Don't be demoralized by bad draws or meeting 'perfect' killer decks in the arena. RNG evens out, and the skilled still win.

Watch a streamer play a round or two to get the idea.

I did okay without doing all this...but my starter mistakes were
1. use 1-mana drops. Apart from class-specific minions (northshire cleric, fire imp and such) the only good 1-mana minion is worgen infiltrator
2. Too glad for taunt - I'd draft silverback patriarch (3 mana 1/4 taunt) and mogadishu warrior (4 mana 1/7) but they are quite bad cards.
3. Use weapons inefficiently. Weapons are 90% of the time to help clear away enemy minions so your own minions survive. I was afraid of life loss (on warriors, typically) but clearing board and removing opponents cards is far better.
4. Have sources of card draw. Stuff that can draw you cards is prime value. Also make smart trades, trade up, trade 2-for-1. Don't put all your minions on the board if a mage will have 7 mana next turn, that sort of stuff.

You should also build your own decks ASAP for each class. The default ones are really bad so it's unlikely for you to do worse plus you can think about which basics are good and bad and possible interactions/combos with each class.

- Getting all heroes up to level 10
- Saving as much gold as possible for Arena runs
- Complete quests as they come in
- Beat the expert AI at every class for 100 gold
- Cancel any 40 gold quest (from the quest screen) for a chance to get a 60 or 100 gold quest

Good one Jowy.

I was thinking just the same, unleash the hounds should work against murlock aggro decks. Serves them right.

Abusive Sarge, Lightwarden (when priest), and Argent Squire are pretty decent 1-drops. Not the best in arena, but better than say..Dalaran Mage.
