oh im not going to stop fighting these two guys
i've whipped a city every turn that it is physically possible to do so. I have three cities at size one this turn. The fuckers will have to kill every longbow that I can drag from the corpse of my civilization. But I am looking forward to being done with this so I can read the lurker threads. mackoti Wrote:SO GAVAGAI WINNED ALOT BUT HE DIDNT HAD ANY PROBLEM?
So, I logged in to see this.
![]() That's plako's big stack, and he's finished bombarding Antioch. Well, he easily has enough units for my stack given that Antioch is not on a hill. With the defenses bombarded down he will be able to slaughter my longbows - he'll have a better than 60% chance with each knight against a full health longbow, and he has 2-3 units per longbow. So I did this. ![]() The way I figure, I've bought all the time I can with Antioch. Sacrificing a big chunk of longbows like that won't gain me much. If all those longbows die, I have nothing else to defend Char with, which means Plako won't have to stop and bombard Char. If I retreat, he can take Antioch easily, but then still has to bombard Char, which buys me three extra turns when that battle happens. And I'll do the same thing to Char. The other reason. ![]() I still have a lot of longbows! The more I can keep alive for the final two or three cities, the less chance Bacchus has of getting any more of my cities, since his armies are not that significant. Plus, I think it will be funny to see Bacchus have the two cities in the north but none in the main part of the jungle, meaning his lands will be divided by Plako with my cities. mackoti Wrote:SO GAVAGAI WINNED ALOT BUT HE DIDNT HAD ANY PROBLEM?
It would be a lot of fun to play some Starcraft 2 with some of these Civ vets because then I could be the alpha male for a change.

Well if I ever stopped playing league then u wouldn't be the only alpha in here :P.

Turns out that I'm a complete idiot and don't know anything about Civ. When Plako captured Antioch, the tile 1N of the city fell out of my culture. I thought it would still be within Char's borders and thus keep my stack safe, but it wasn't, so he was able to benefit from the road on it and kill my stack.
Oh well. It really doesn't make much difference at this point. mackoti Wrote:SO GAVAGAI WINNED ALOT BUT HE DIDNT HAD ANY PROBLEM?
Oh yeah and I offered Bacchus Chau Sara for peace.
Chau Sara is the city on the far left in this screenshot. It remains one of three cities still alive in the north. ![]() It is well protected and Bacchus has no chance of having it by himself. However, if I give it to him for peace, I can concentrate all of my remaining forces against Plako either in Redstone III, or, if I'm quick enough, in Char. This will basically put Plako's invasion at a standstill, because I will be able to concentrate 20 some longbows in one city. He's going to have to bring up more forces, or accept huge casualties to finish me off. And if he does finish me off, I will have created a hilarious geopolitical situation by giving Bacchus three strong cities that he has absolutely no hope of defending ever. And I think that's a fun legacy to leave. mackoti Wrote:SO GAVAGAI WINNED ALOT BUT HE DIDNT HAD ANY PROBLEM?
Well, this is it. Char gone, Chau Sara given away for peace with Bacchus. I abandoned Redstone III to concentrate all remaining forces in Mar Sara, which is on a hill.
I haven't been as effective on defense as I had hoped, but getting Feudalism on the turn that the war started really wasn't how it should have gone. I should have realised that Plako would attack me at Knights and gone for Feudalism as a priority. If I'd had half a dozen longbows in my frontline cities I would have stalled Plako's invasion long ago. Unfortunately, as it went, I never actually managed to decisively hurt any of his stacks. mackoti Wrote:SO GAVAGAI WINNED ALOT BUT HE DIDNT HAD ANY PROBLEM? |
