[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Hey, assuming we get a reasonable peace deal, there are two options to consider:

1) Pile on TBS and opportunistically take two cities N of Jamestown (you probably have seen my signs)
2) Try to eliminate suttree: Note that there are different invansion routes, again we need to use spies to detect his cat stack. If it is in Madrid, there is a possibility that an attack along the southern coast could make sense (pretty much the same logic as with the previous attack, but even more risky for Hastings & Jamestown) tongue Suttree is not going to get Engineering in this game so his cats won't get a chance to strike if we move smartly.

EDIT: Ichabod's peace is of course bad news. Hopefully he is so checked out that he does not bother attacking our island cities. crazyeye

Agreed. I think the cats are in Madrid, so I was wondering if we had enough 2-movers could we just run them over. But that requires a lot of them. And those longbows are still there.

I'm not going to have much time to play tonight so if you have time to log in after Mack and leave your thoughts on whether we should attack I'd appreciate it... otherwise I could ask for a pause until the morning.

I'll be away from home the most of the day, but should be able to log in in the evening. In the current situation it's not too bad if we need couple of hours pause though.

Turn 171

Mackoti doesn't want white peace. frown

He killed our galley, and I assume will pillage our clams next.

Our spy moved towards Plainfood to check if there is a stack, while our sentry Chariot investigates the east. We didn't uncover anything this turn, but we're paranoid that Mack has a stack of catapults poised to shred our knights, so we won't move in until next turn. Cowards.

Our begging ways resume... We can probably get Nationalism next turn without this cash, but we'll be able to cancel wealth builds if someone steps up.

I offered happy deals to Dhal and retep too, maybe they'll like the extra whipping ability more than the cash.

Wow! We love you Dhalphir! Nationhood comes in at the end of the turn.

The really bad news is that we lost our spy near Plainfood, so we can't check for a defensive stack frown - so do we want to risk our knights? I'll put our sentry chariot on a hill to see what he can see...

Arse. There's no way we can hit Plainfood safely. I guess we just turtle, wait for cannons to turn up and then panic. Interestingly if he'd placed the stack a tile or two south we'd have lost the sentry chariot or perhaps the whole stack, but we could have attacked Ur with cats...

At sea Mack is blockading Cannae and Om with Frigates. frown

Still got most of the turn left to play, I'll get to it a bit later. Any thoughts?

Hmm, let's pressure Eridu or Gerard? Neither Mack nor us can protect all his cities at the same time.. And try to get white peace? Or peace for a nominal cost, 100 gold?

Looks like the brilliant report I wrote at 2am didn't take for some reason, these are the pictures:

What did William have that put Ichabod off? This stack is huge...

This is Mack's blockade. I don't get it - I thought blockades kicked in after a turn stationary? These boats only just got here...

And I moved our knights to A, so they can be on tile B next turn if needed. Unfortunately our sentry chariot is on tile C so he can't give us advanced warning of what awaits in Eridu. However we know that Mack can put ten knights in there. Hmmmm.

I'm sorry to say it, but I don't think any more attacks are going to be possible at this time - except maybe if we stage an unexpectedly large catapult stack 1N of the Hooray peak or 1NW of Barcelona. But not with present forces. Perhaps best to focus on defence - and we'll need the catapults either way. (Also mack's power is rising at a rate alarmingly disproportionate to ours - I hope you finish those universities soon and get on to military builds.)

Heh, random, likely unfeasible thought - settle city 1NE of Eridu's corn; if that gave us first-ring borders right away against his culture, we could hit Eridu without the one-turn delay in his territory that lets him bring knights up. Although he would still see us staging, so it depends what his trigger for moving the knights up is.

I think you're right. Although I'm pretty sure your unfeasible thought is unfeasible. frown Mack logged in quickly so I thought I'd check if he accepted our peace for 100 gold offer. He didn't.

Ichabod is asking for his 150 gold back by the way. Do we want to pay him back now that we have Nationalism, or do we antagonise our top-power neighbour?

Edit: And do we switch to Nationhood/Caste/Pacifism to get our next golden age in place quicker?

Pay him back. Or maybe offer it as gpt as a bit of padding against a DoW.
