Quote:Next turn will probably be about 8-9am (GMT) tomorrow (if we don't get any pauses). I've tried to do a Google hangout watching Seven play and my machine (or connection) wasn't up to it - so I doubt it will cope with streaming itself. Is Twitch less processor- or connection-heavy than a hangout?
It is both, depending on the resolution of the game. if you are going to try and stream 1920*1080, you're going to have a very bad time unless you have a 10MB/s upload speed IMO (you also need good upload due to in game lag). I play and stream at 1048*768 though, and I can do that on a line that has little more than a 1MB/s upload, with a 4670 core i5 processor. I can actually play and encode anything up to the full 1080p resolution, I just can't upload it fast enough to not drop frames.

Hey Guys.
I was following, and playing some turns for, another civ in this PB. But I'm at liberty to find another civ to follow. Sorry to say, but it seems you're it.
I've been reading this thread last 3-4 days now, from the start. Good read.
First off I'll say that even though you several times apologize for "boring mirco" in turn updates, or even "discussion about boring micro" I beg to differ - for someone like me who do not immediately understand the best course of action all the time all those posts were useful. And great strategic insight/musings/rants. A must-read for other players after the game.
Secondly I am deeply honored to have given name to your heroic/knightslayer axeman - how is he doing? I guess he didn't survive the recent battles?
And thirdly, why haven't you name a city Lepanto yet?
I think I'd do the same as Mackoti is doing now - get peace with the weakened neighbour and strike strategically against potential rivals overseas. Such strikes can be devastatingly effective in crippling unaware players. There was this PBEM I read that featured....janissaries on boats wrecking havoc....can't remember which....
Anyway, he probably would prefer to remain at peace for 40 turns and roll over you with tanks. So the 40-39 "NAP" is him signalling that he has other things to do...but not to be treated like a full-diplo NAP at all. Counterattack if you see an opening.[/i]

I think this sandbox is a fair representation of the situation (it's probably a bit harsher if anything). Unfortunately it looks like those nine extra spears are going to stop us taking the city this turn (unless I just got harsh RNG luck).
We want to use cats, then knights and Cuirs can kill longbows until the spears start to show up, then we use muskets to kill longbows, then maces, then we use longbows to kill the two catapults, then axes will kill a few of the spears. At that point we don't have a lot of knights left and they only get about 70% against the spears anyway, so might have to wait another turn and finish them off with maces and axes.
Hi Molach, welcome aboard! Who were you lurking before? If memory serves me correct you're still alive, with shock and cover and could come in quite useful attacking Madrid next turn...

Hey where's my bowmen, if I'm in the backline then I feel offended :P after all my family's surname is Zhang which I believe means bowmen.

Hmm, Commodore has PP, surely has Banking, but unlike everyone else with PP does not have RP in "Can Research" section. And he surely has Gunpowder, but there is no Rifling in "Can Research" either. That should mean that he has Rifling or am I missing something?

Yeah, something like this, e.g. a combo of both. We probably need more than 1-turn to get Galleons in position so timeline will be something like this:
T0: Finish Astronomy and complete 0-4 galleons via auto-upgrade
T1-2: Upgrade 0-4 galleys to galleons, load units and place them on staging tiles. Meanwhile stage X Knights/Cuirs behind Nürenburg (not too early, just in case Ichabod has spies wandering)
T3: Take SB, SG & Eyes, Unload X Knights at Eyes and move them in position to attack 4th City (plains hill 2E of the city).
T4: Take one more city (whatever the name was)
T5-15: Try to take final island city from Ichabod, control waters with few frigates and possibly try to get peace.
I'm sure if OH gets excited he will at some point provide an illustration of this.

I was premier of the Dhalphirian civilization early october.
And my promotions would have been more fitting if they were duck and cover...

Oops! That makes him much more dangerous than I thought then. Especially for William, Pindicooter and Dtay...

Wish->Command.
Yellow is T3, Orange is T4, Red is T5. The stuff up north is probably a fantasy.
Razing the capital would knock him out of the game, possibly allowing William to clean up the rest of his cities. So I think we want to land a strike force to make that threat and ask for peace in return for the island cities we can't take on T3... Burning as many coastal cities as possible is vital if we're going to control the water between us. I'd really like to get a foothold on that continent, but Ichabod has too big a stack for that to be plausible...

Ah, you may discover I was a little uncomplimentary about the worker micro, but he did a decent job of holding off Plako for a while (which is all that any of us can really hope for with Plako...)
On your read through if you spot anything that should be linked to in the index let me know... (We've got a bit behind with that - been busy getting killed.)

Pindicooter et al have held up the turn, but hopefully it'll be ready for this evening. Probably about 8-10 GMT. I've got a twitch feed set up but I've no idea if it'll work... http://www.twitch.tv/old_harry

And now it looks like it'll have to be tomorrow morning 8-9am for the turn (sorry THH). I'll attempt a silent twitch stream, but will probably need someone who has used it before to make it work properly (I've got it recording .flv files on my C: drive, what is the best way to embed them here?)
