As the thread title suggests, I'm keeping Mao/Ethiopia. If I didn't reroll Agg/Phi/Germany, you think I'm turning down BTS Exp + extras? A ton of start bonuses (+35% worker/workboat, +100% granary), good starting techs as well, and then a good selection of cheap midgame buildings? I think this is a solidly 55-65th percentile assignment.

Also, idk how significant Oromo warriors will be, but given how my last game involved a horde of drafted muskets I'm not going to say they count for nothing. Given Pro's (mostly useless) free CG1's, my Oromo's are going to have quite the eclectic upgrades.

The UB sucks though. I guess helps in a few culture wars? At least better than my accidentally-even-worse-than-BTS Germany UB from PB13.

I think Phi and Cre are by far the worst 2 traits right now, and I have neither of them. Given lower variance of RBmod traits, I think the most important thing is avoiding those two, so rerolling is just risking disaster.

Incidentally, I think Agg is top tier in RBMod. It's like baby-Cre, baby-Org, old-Agg all rolled into one. A nice poor mans "everything" trait. Agg/Fin, Agg/Org, Agg/Spi, Agg/Exp, really Agg/<not-Cre or Phi> would be my favorite pairings.

Next important step is figuring out a theme.

Hmm. What to do. PBEM53 is Firefly, maybe same concept but the Ender-verse?

Yes! plenty of material... cities named for charactwrs or players?

I'm planning planets and/or other orbital bodies (Eros, Battle School).

When I run out of those... well luckily Enderverse is nominally our verse so I can just use real planets lol

I really really don't want to do an opponent analysis. So many people. I'll say I view Krill/Novice and Plako as the clear frontrunners out of the gate at least.

Nothing much important to say but...

WHAT THE HELL Q REROLLED RAGNAR!?!?!?

Ragner is arguably the best RBMod leader!!!

I mean there are other contenders, but he's definitely top 5.

Oh wait and OF FRANCE. Ragnar OF FRANCE.

where would you rank France as an RBmod civ?

Top tier. RBMod in general made a lot fewer changes to civs, mostly just nerfing the really OP ones. Which is basically all of the ones significantly better than France. I think France was the epitome of "good but balanced" in base-BTS. And now that the OP civs are nerfed (India, Inca, Vikings) there's no one left to keep it down.

There are definitely equivalents though. India and Inca, despite nerfs, are probably just as good (maybe even slightly better still). China is good. Sumeria, another "good but balanced" civ IMO in base-BTS is good. Zulu are top tier now that hunting is worthwhile.

I think the civs are pretty balanced now actually. There are a few stinkers left though. Cough-Germany-cough.

France was given an indirect buff though b/c of the nerf to drafting rifles AND how much dang longer it takes to research Ren+ techs. The age of drafted muskets is longer now. And by longer I mean exists. So drafted musketeers can dominate for a longer period of time.

And in Q's case, AGGRESSIVE drafted musketeers. Aggressive musketeers that now come part and parcel with mini-Org and mini-Inca-UB.
