Heh, yeah, that deck looks really good. I would enjoy seeing a pick by pick if you have that info.

If my (great) experience with paladin is any indication, off the cuff I would suggest opening more Aldor Peacekeepers and I guess getting worse opponents. And maybe value the less-amazing 4s a bit lower? (Hammer of Wrath, Ancient Brewmaster)

I am not a Paladin pro by any means, but IMHO the thing that comes to mind is that your deck has almost no late game, you have a total of 4 cards that cost 5+ mana.

I am not saying this is necessarily bad, but at the same time you have no cards that help you draw additional cards to keep up the pressure. The only cards that will lead to a card advantage are the weapons, but I could imagine that around 6 mana this deck loses quite a lot of power and once you lose board control at this stage of the game and start to fall behind on card economy, you are done.

Of course that's easy to say in hindsight, sometimes you just pick the early 2-mana minion and get 5+ more later in the draft, but in the instances you skip it you can be sure no more cheap minions are going to show up... lol

Pick-by-Pick Paladin breakdown here for Seven. (Would you believe I had matches where I didn't draw but 2 of my 6 Consecration/Hammer or that I was offered a FOURTH Consecration?)

Selections in bold.

1. Twilight Drake - Young Priestess - Worgen Infiltrator

2. Leper Gnome - Flesheating Ghoul - Acidic Swamp Ooze

3. Wild Pyromancer - Mana Wraith - Holy Wrath

4. Boulderfist Ogre - Blessing of Kings - River Crocolisk

5. Bluegill Warrior - Worgen Infiltrator - Hammer of Wrath

6. Consecration - Bloodsail Raider - Harvest Golem

7. Razorfen Hunter - Reckless Rocketeer - Blessing of Might

I'm not a big fan of BoM without having some one drops and Razorfen is only a bit below average as a three.

8. Murloc Tidehunter - Venture Co. Mercenary - Silver Hand Knight

9. Spiteful Smith - Blessing of Might - Jungle Panther

Probably should have taken the Smith in retrospect, but I only value the Smith more if I end up with about 2 more weapons. I ended up with 3, but you can't really predict that.

10. Sword of Justice - Mountain Giant - Lay on Hands

Honestly wish I had used Lay on Hands here.

11. Repentance - Blessing of Kings - Shieldbearer

12. Ancient Brewmaster - Silverback Patriarch - Hand of Protection

This pick made me sad because usually I wouldn't take Ancient Brewmaster in this spot, but the other two just weren't very good.

13. Consecration - Bluegill Warrior - Shattered Sun Cleric

I was really tempted to take the Cleric here, but felt that the odds of a 2nd Consecration weren't good enough to risk it. If only I knew!

14. Silverback Patriarch - Youthful Brewmaster - Eye for an Eye

15. Hammer of Wrath - Darkscale Healer - Spellbreaker

16. Hammer of Wrath - Light's Justice - Archmage

Was tempted to Archmage here, but felt it was too weak and I could get better late game.

17. Chillwind Yeti - Oasis Snapjaw - Frostwolf Warlord

In retrospect I probably should have taken the Yeti, but there wasn't any games I played where the Warlord over Yeti would have mattered anyway.

18. Oasis Snapjaw - Stonetusk Boar - Argent Squire

Ick.

19. Noble Sacrifice - Guardian of Kings - Silverback Patriarch

20. Secretkeeper - Blessed Champion - Sunfury Protector

21. Scarlet Crusader - Blessing of Wisdom - Flesheating Ghoul

22. Argent Protector - Ancient Brewmaster - Shattered Sun Cleric

Protector or Cleric is probably down to each person's preference.

23. Worgen Infiltrator - Consecration - Light's Justice

24. Elven Archer - Noble Sacrifice - Holy Light

25. Truesilver Champion - Dark Iron Dwarf - Noble Sacrifice

26. Core Hound - Earthen Ring Farseer - Thrallmar Farseer

Maybe Core Hound was actually the right call here? But I only ended up with 5 3s...

27. Noble Sacrifice - Voodoo Doctor - River Crocolisk

28. Stormpike Commando - Consecration - Core Hound

29. Truesilver Champion - Noble Sacrifice - Blessing of Might

30. Sunfury Protector - Emperor Cobra - Equality

Can't really argue with your picks there. Things I might have done differently, but can't claim my choice would be better:
27. Noble Sacrifice over River Crocolisk. (Since you have the hero ability and River Croc is mediocre anyway. But I haven't played NS much so I don't know.)
28. Consecration over Stormpike Commando. (I like being able to disperse mass removal like candy. smile)

When you took the sword of justice it looked like you were heavy on lategame (ogre + venture co out of 9 cards, not to mention twilight drake and hammer of wrath). So I can agree with taking that over lay on hands.

With regard to Gustaran's point, I think the hammers of wrath are some pseudo-lategame, and I think you may have had a pretty good deck there that just got unlucky. I think my times I've gotten less than 3 wins have been more about unlucky games (opponent curving out, you flopping) than anything else.

Oh, something else occurs to me. I can't claim to know what is good mulligan strategy but I could easily see you being tempted to keep 4-cost cards in hand with this deck when you shouldn't because you'll be getting plenty.

I never kept my 4 costs, in fact first game Ih ad 2 Consecration 1 Hammer of Wrath hand and sent them all back.

Then I only got 1 of either (A Consecration) until I lost. frown

I definitely feel I got unlucky, didn't draw a ton of the power cards, but even when I did they were dissapointing. I've found a large amount of Aldor Peacekeeper, Argent Protector and Guardian of Kings are much better than Consecration, Truesilver Champion and Hammer of Wrath. (Sword of Justice is tricky)

I went with Commando over Consecration because I felt I needed some kind of late game guy at that point, Noble Sacrifice I think is underrated but I wanted to go with the Croc to help my Rogue/Druid/Mage matchup.

That's fair. Well, at least going 2-3 is relatively quick. alright

The good thing is I didn't get dust from it and got 40 gold, so I can probably do another run tonight.

Wow, that deck looks just like the one that usually beats me and ends my arena runs so who knows. Maybe you just got unlucky? The matchmaker seems to love trying to give 2 losses early by pairing against extremely good decks and then easing up a little until 5 wins or so. So maybe you just got a bad draw in the crucial third loss.

What was beating you? Getting swarmed in the early game by stuff too big to consecrate, or were you losing late game draw-outs?

I also went 2-3 with Paladin in arena today, but I unfortunately ended up with the dust. frown I deserved it though since during my fourth game during this draft, I was at like 10 - 12 health and my Paladin opponent had like 19 health left and had an amadi berserker, an argent commander, 2 or 3 1/1 tokens, and a Redemption on the board. I ended up drawing Deathwing (yes, I drafted my first Deathwing devil) a turn or two earlier and I got so excited about it that I ended up playing him and forgot to attack with my minions first. My amadi survives with redemption and during my opponent's next turn used his consecration and was unsuccessful to taking out my Deathwing except by getting a Emperor Cobra out and planning on killing my Deathwing next turn. Managed to get him to 7 health and I lost that game because of that horrible misplay. If I played it properly, I would've put him on lethal before I attacked with my Deathwing on that turn. banghead

On my last game of the draft, during my Shaman opponent's turn 3, he played his Mana Tide Totem while I have my healthy Raging Worgen on the board. Had a Bluegill Warrior and a Mad Bomber in my hand on my turn 4 and was thinking maybe if I play my Mad Bomber, he could throw one bomb at the Totem and one at my Worgen and I would be able to do a bunch of damage to my opponent and use my Bluegill Warrior and kill the totem. However, ALL 3 bombs hit and killed my worgen! cry So yeah, sometimes I wonder why the heck do I ever draft Mad Bomber in arena? hmm Sorry I forgot to take a snapshot of my arena deck because I was bummed by that Deathwing misplay.

Meanwhile, in a Druid constructed game, I managed to make some Murlocs and that poor Raid Leader see stars. And I mean A LOT of stars: biggrin

If we're talking bad plays, today I had a situation where I needed to do 6 damage to an enemy minion, and had a four attack minion active on the board and a stormpike commando in my hand. Turns out the best play isn't to drop the commando first and then click my active minion thinking I had dropped a dark iron dwarf smile
