Glum Goes Abroad

Hey guys! Some of you may have seen this already in the Civ section, but the Werewolf community is my first family at RB so I wanted to let you know too. Ms Gazglum and myself are heading out on a 9 month backpacking trip around Europe, seeing basically everything and indulging my love of history. I'm pretty excited. Hopefully Russia and the EU don't go to war.

I won't be able to play any werewolf for a while, though I'll think of all you lycanthropes as I pass through the Black Forest. I could do a game in June, probably, if it was going then. Looking forward to lurking whatever happens though.

Also, I know that y'all are a well traveled lot, so if you have any advice about fascinating and peculiar corners of Europe for an eager Australian to see, let me know! We have a general plan in mind for our route, but we can always take detours.

Make sure you enjoy the delights of Britain at some point - the North is the friendliest and the cheapest.

Also, Prague & Rome are beautiful cities so if you get to stop there you are in for a treat!

Well depends a lot in what you and Ms Glum are interested in. I started to list all must sees but that would really break the forum because there is so much to see smile

As a general advise if you aren't looking for a beach-holiday then visit the south (spain,Italy, Greece) in spring (till say mid(end of may). Scandinavia in summer wink.

But a lot really depends what you find interesting and what you are willing to endure. ( for example if you hate ships then travelling via Hurtig-boats from say Bergen (or any other station but Bergen is well worth a visit) to Nordkap is a big nono else something I would recommend).

If you're in Ireland keep away from the tourist traps, especially West Britain. West Cork, the Dingle peninsula and the Burren (all in Munster) are all beautiful places to visit. And you must sample the national sports if you can.

Drop me a line if you're around. I could show you a few lesser known beauty spots, if I've time.

I recommend the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux near Amiens, France.

Camino de Santiago! Though you probably don't have time for the whole thing!

If you want to travel along the Norwegian coast with Hurtigruta, you could combine it with a visit to the Chess Olympiad in Tromsø in august. smile
If you know what I mean.

I recommend the city of Bruges in West Flanders, in Belgium. It's absolutely beautiful, and you and mrs glum should definitely take one of the horse carriage rides around the city.
