[spoilers] The what goes where?

I'm back. Thanks mh for covering.

I did some digging and found this name (John Winthrop). Not great ... but it will do.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Turn 22 - 3120BC:

Moved Paul (Scout) to the red circle tile (see above) and revealed the following ...

Another crab. It seems like it is crab or mutton for dinner. Each. And. Every. Night.

That information will probably result in Newton moving 1 tile west. Myabe more once I move Paul a further tile west.

All other aspects of The Plan remain on track.

Whats the appeal of Newton? Ok, it can work the 2nd capital crab straight away, but after that?
Would it not be better to settle towards your known neighbours in a non-iceball location?

EDIT: If Newton is indeed your plan for a 2nd city.

Newton probably won't be my second city. I (as you say) will probably settle towards Q. Current thinking is Cambridge as #2. I would prefer a city that shares some tiles with the capital to support growing the cottages ... but moving it off the river would hurt.

Here is a pic from earlier in the thread ...

T11-T20 summary

This set of 10 turns started off well with Paul (Scout) surviving a mauling from a lion as well as the 2nd religion falling.

We also discovered some offshore stone (single tile island) that looks appealing. A map from a hut revealed Q and led to some interesting speculation about close capitals separated by canals.

We popped two huts in a single turn for 83g (combined) ... one of those being on Q's border smile.

Peter Pond (RIP) then ran into a lion and was turned into dinner while Paul returned to Boston to recover from his earlier mauling. As such ... the balance of the 10 turns were log in, monitor performance against plan, end turn. So ... some time was spent looking at the opponents ...
  • Nakor of Borg
  • dtay of the Patriots (this will clash with my Boston theme)
  • Jowy of Cloud Kingdom
  • BGN of National Parks Service
  • Cyneheard of Atriedes (he must be in a very dry location)

Turn 23 - 3080BC:

Paul was attacked out of the fog at the end of last turn. A wolf came from one of the red dots and tried to chew on Paul. Paul dispatched the wolf with no pain. 2XP on his way to 5XP (hopefully).

Worker B moved from the grassland (after putting in 1t of farming) to the plains hill forest (see red line below). Bronze Working finishes (207/207 smile) at the end of this turn so he will start mining the hill. Our completed warrior started the journey to Green dot to protect our first settler on his way to Cambridge (due EOT T33 ie ages from now) .

Paul moved into the forest that I thought was a dead end ... to find ... that it wasn't. Next turn he moves to that hill 2 south of his current location.

And here is the first demo screen from me this game. We are #8 in GNP (#7 really) working 2 x Crabs for extra commerce.

Hmm - maybe on the flat tile west of the hill is better ... that will allow me to see 2 tiles (over water) while on the hill will only show me the 1 water tile.

Turn 24 - 3040BC:

Paul moved to flat land 1E of hill and found ...

Next move for him is to the southern hill 1E of the deer. He also has a promotion due him. I am saving that for the future (healing, survive tight spot, other). I am going to have to dot map my land some time in the future.

Q's capital grew to size 2. He has 2 food sources in play. I think his start was 4h per turn until finished the WB, then a 10t worker who pastured the sheep.

BW finished, Myst selected. All aspects of The Plan still on track. My copper ...

1000 years down. 4000 go to. This game will be over some time next month at this pace.

Paul moved to the hill and found ...

Note the goodie hut in the red circle. Also ... is that ice in the white box?

All aspects of The Plan on track.

Here is one of the benefits of living in a great city. Tonight my wife and I got to spend 90 minutes at Carnegie Hall in NYC listening to a bunch of people with musical instruments, a 270 strong chior and some world famous singers.

They were playing various songs from 'Calling All Dawns' and the World Premiere of 'The Drop that Contained the Sea' ... both by Christopher Tin. More details here.

The lead song? Baba Yetu. Fantastic! My wife had to wipe her eyes at the end of the performance.

The new music ('The Drop that Contained the Sea') is similar but more mature. Its been about 10 yrs since Calling All Dawns was released so you would expect that.

Pre-release music is available ...
