Fine... the chop-chop-chop forget-about-food start also exists. Details. mischief

Almost certainly inferior, but yeah, it probably meets the threshold of logical.

Shot after capital border pop

NW near the pigs is looking like a potentially good 2nd city site

Haven't really revealed any new tiles of interest, so no screenshots.

Sims currently have tech path as

ag->hunting->AH->bronze

settler produced eot28, with 1 worker extant.

Don't like the late pottery, but I think it's what I have to sacrifice of AH, Bronze, or Pottery.

After that base set of techs, I'll think about religion or wonder beelines. Religion, Oracle, Pyramids, and TGL are the ones in mind. Stonehenge is also always there I suppose, but I care about that one less.

The fact that I;m getting a reasonably-fast opening out without chopping will help with those wonders since I'll have more forests left. Silver linings to the late Bronze working.

Nothing much interesting happening. Farmed the wheat finally. Scout got injured so is healing.

Still need to devote some simming time to this game over PB18. I took it out to city#2 but no farther. I need to see when I can manage to sandbox-land various wonders by.

Nothing exciting at all, moved a space and roaded. Will move to deer next turn then begin camp.

Astute observers will note I haven't really been reporting this game, I'm finding in general the most I feel the energy for reporting+simming is 2 games, so a lot of this game has a lot looser planning that 13 or 18. Exams will be done in a few days so then I think I'll devote a few hours to figuring out what the midterm plan is here.

I'll post screenshots probably tomorrow. I'm not a huge fan of the starting-micro I've done. It's mediocre at best. Bleh.

Other thing of note is the harassing warrior up near Gaspar/Lew. Situation was totally incidental, I've been scouting with a scout + warrior, and the scout ran into Gaspar/Lew's territory. The warrior at that point in time had run into peaks, and had basically nowhere left to explore except turning around and backtracking or heading towards Gaspar/Lew (thorugh un-discovered territory, about 5t off). So I decided to do that and go along with light harassment as well. I doubt I'll actually hit anything ever, probably won't even ever be the attacker, the idea is just to throw off their micro and force them to build a few more warriors than they otherwise would.

It's made the turn-rolls somewhat more difficult though, since I've gotten intot he pattern of being last-first, last-first, etc (I should break this). So far I've been doing that as normal and then just logging back in to move the warrior after Gaspar/Lew end their turn. Though this turn I accidentally hit enter on the "first" part b/c I was having the warrior just sit in place, so it might look like a double move from an end-turn perspective. Just noting here that the warrior has always been moving correctly in relation to Gaspar/Lew (don't want to clear this up in the tech thread b/c it reveals there is a turn split going on).

Lot of text, pictures tomorrow/tonight.

Where we're at:

Not a great start. Inefficient micro to get here, and I had a slow leader to begin with.

Going for The Great Lighthouse. FDR kind of begs one too, and the water on this map is such that large quantities of my cities will be coastal. The other early wonder play would be oracle -> Metal Casting -> Collosus, but my teching is so slow that I just don't think I can afford the detour to religious techs. And the oracle is cheap enough that Ind isn't really an advantage, teching will be more important. So While I think the payoff for that one is higher cause of my cheap mints, I'm taking the safer but still good play of TGL.

That's why Mario is weirdly off where it is. Except, as I'll repeat, re: bad micro decisions, it's probably a ton easier to get TGL by founding a city 2N of the capital deer and just chopping all my capital forests into it. So while Mario is a good city, I didn't need it this soon.

Refocusing to try and revive this game starts Tuesday. Though it's not helped by how blistering fast this game pace is. I was last to play again, except by last to play I mean I played my turn with 18 hours left on the timer lol.

Bunch of barbarians (5 to be exact) all suddenly appeared right outside my borders in the last 2 turns. This is not going to be pretty. Next log in I'll give pictures, but I had to chop and whip out additional defenders in places where I wasn't planning. More to add onto a mediocre start argh.
