I'm having issues playing early as well. I keep pulling 11+ hour shifts.

Maybe we should consider extending the timer a few hours? Setting it to 22 usually works out to about 24 in real time.

I would have no problems with that.

It looks like the turn timer right now is about 22 hours of real time. I'd be OK with changing it, but I think it's also fine to just leave it as it is and pause for a few hours every so often.

If you're going to pause when the timer runs low anyway, isn't that just the same thing as a longer timer? And a longer timer averts the problems with people getting stuck on the diplo screen while paused.

That would be a big help for me. I usually have a set window I can play in every 24 hours so when the timer is less than that eventually I'll end up missing or delaying turns. So 22 hour timer would be a noticeable improvement once the turn order settles to where everyone is playing around their preferred time of day (if any).

Could someone pause me? I can't get to the game for another few hours.

Disregard that last message.

I don't know how soon I'll be able to get to the game, so if anyone notices that I haven't logged in with half an hour left on the clock, could someone graciously pause until I can get there? Thanks smile

Alright, so this turn I'll actually not be able to make it online in time to play my turn, especially since neither Munro nor Broker have played. I have back to back exams during the time that the turn should turn over, so I'll definitely need a pause until I'm back.

Sorry for the delay again.

Since no-one objected to Elkad's suggestion that we increase the turn timer, should we go ahead and do it? We can always change it back again if there are silent objectors that haven't had a chance to weigh in yet.

As T-hawk points out, we're not letting anyone miss their turns anyway (which is a good thing in my view; there's no fun in playing an inert opponent, or having turn order reversals and double moves mess up the game mechanics). A longer timer would give us more predictability and stop us having to mess around with pauses etc.

Come to think of it, why not just make it 44 hours? Since we're never letting the timer run out anyway wouldn't that just make life easier for everyone? smile
