1. The control of that sea channel will be massive! The theme of this map is that the usual logic that you settle away from coast and backfill it later because it's easy can be turned on its head. All of these coastal resources could be contested by another player who's counting on owning them like we are. The whales are a very key resource in particular.
Really liking WilliamLP's thread. He and Darrell are sharing their continent with MYKI, who is wrestling with himself about an overseas invasion of "Barry"...heh. HRE and Mongols should do well.

2. That's a beautiful second city spot, why couldn't you give me something so nice. frown

What's wrong with shared wheat, sheep, copper, clam, fur?! (Note, settling 1N of copper gets a *different* clam if he doesn't want the 3h city center on copper.)

I think tbs is right, he doesnt have a spot that good, and setling on cooper how is to soposed to get clam? And since you can compare irigated corn with plains sheep? And saying he can have whest too is wrong cause that belongs to capitol.

What can i say for what i seen till now some people realy got like 3-4 very stron cities to expand and other didnt get even a second which can comapre with that, and i think TBs is one of those , I am realy courious if he can overcame to this situation.

For example for very strong: Scooter, Dtay(oh boy for cities wiith 1-2 graet foos in first ring and cooper ),Boldly, even hak and others beeing realy bad as Tbs it is.

This is insane, I'm going to lurk this, meaning this thread maybe 1-2 player threads and Sulllas observer reports.

Er, I haven't even read all of the lurker thread yet but I've got some questions already

1. What is the Gasium tier list players seem to be referring to, I couldn't find it via Google - yeah, that doesn't happen too often.
2. I don't know all these players, and if I know them I know them from EitB - where TBS is looking really strong. Have any of the players written up a more detailed enemy analysis? Thanks Commodore
3. I haven't played Civ a lot, has any of the players written up a comprehensible "what has changed in this mod" thing?
4. Who are the really good report-style players here, I was looking for pocketbeetle but he doesn't play in this

It's in their thread in PB16, Krill also has a rival ranking system, of which I know not wot of.

Well, it turns out I may want to be a bad neighbor to Cyneheard after all. (And possibly become very irritated at the mapmaker.)

theres going to be lots of irritated people when the lay of the land is revealed. but Pin, if it wasnt an island you'd have people on five sides with no safe borders at all! I fully support the islands decision, it effectively creates a safer and more roomy ancient era expansion phase. yes it will create an unbalanced field, but we learned in pb13 that the neighbor lottery trumps all...

also, the tech thread OP has the change log.

So Catwalk and Jowy wanted tight civ spacing. So Commodore, in his wisdom, game them a duel. Then Catwalk quit, like he do, and HitAnyKey took over. Here is the saga of HAK and Jowy:

First order of business: I'm keeping Saladin of Mali. It seems pretty decent, I get fast granaries, no anarchy and super skirmishers. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to leverage Spiritual, but at the very least it saves me a turn early on and if I feel crazy enough to go for an early religion (I very likely am crazy enough) then I get that conversion for free as well. With fast granaries and CG/Drill Skirmishers I should be able to hold expansions very easily, that's going to matter quite a bit on a (hopefully) cramped map.

So basically my comments being...yeah, I don't got a clue.

(March 24th, 2014, 21:50)HitAnyKey Wrote: And I've now met my first neighbor. I don't really have any time tonight to look into details about his Civ (not that I'm any good at that type of speculation anyway), but I'll take a look at things a bit later.

(March 28th, 2014, 08:10)Jowy Wrote: Found his capital, and it's even closer than I expected. Seven tiles between his capital and where I was "supposed" to settle.

Okay, let's talk about the grand plan. Yes, I have one! First, look at the lands. Looks like an island to me. It's PB16 duel league all over again. Kill the other guy, and you've got your own world where you can play a builder game in peace. Just one problem: I've got protective skirmishers standing in my way.
...
What does irk me is that I'm basically screwed if my opponent decides to choke me with his protective skirmishers, which is a real possibility considering how close we are. Though it might be refreshing to lose a game due to bad luck rather than self-sabotage for once.

(April 29th, 2014, 18:32)HitAnyKey Wrote: So last turn Jowy revolted to Slavery, so that means he's gotten his Bronze Working and knows where his Copper is. I'll likely send a unit over that way (probably my Axeman) to keep an eye out for when he goes to settle it. Or even better...maybe have my axe over there to cause him grief such that he can't settle easily...if I can get the axe over there in time, which is doubtful.

(April 4th, 2014, 10:18)Jowy Wrote: I recalled Commodore talking about the map in the organization thread and went to check back on his posts. Found this gem:

Okay, looks like we're in a current equilibrium a bit low of 34, but that's fine; I'm going to make me map, make it for 30-33+one Shang-ra-la-peaky-city-full-of-settled merchants working spies. Sullla gets Darius of India, that's then only civ I'm "assigning".

...that being said, I am going to slide the scales a bit, and you will find variable density upon this map based on preferences. There will be lusher equatorial spots with tighter spacing and more realistic temperate zones with north of 220 tiles per person, and I'll roll each person in their preferred "band". Now these are not OCC tightness spaces anywhere, OCC chanters like Brick are best served teaming with reasonable more normal folks like Mardoc; we're not cramming anything, and the variance should be lower than the de facto variance of PB13. BUT, please do not pull a retep people, going wandering will earn you mapmaker bile.

This gives a little more info on the map. Apparently I was thrown in this duel because I wanted the map to be small. It's not the same fucking thing. I wanted everyone to have less land, not for me to have less land and others to have more! It's like voting for a wonder to be banned or not, with the result being that those who voted for it to be banned can't build it, while the rest can. rolleye

Fair point, Jowy

(April 25th, 2014, 23:36)HitAnyKey Wrote: Busy week, so only just getting to doing an update.
So I had settled Asylum last turn and started on my Gems mine. That city is making a Work Boat first, and most likely a second work boat right after that to go exploring. And probably a Barracks after that both to be ready for making military and also to get culture since I just noticed/remembered that I get +1 culture from Barracks. So my quandary for a bit of trying to decide when to research Mysticism to get Monuments for expanding the borders of Asylum is no longer as much a concern.

I also noticed that Jowy has a couple warriors outside his borders, sorta heading my way. So I whipped out the Axe I was working on (was going to switch to Worker since I was a Pop 4) to have him out immediately just in case he decides to try something.

[quote='Jowy' pid='476177' dateline='1398975235']
This is what I get for trying to be nice.

Axe by T37. Either he's rushing me or he's even greener than I am.

This is going to be a controversial move: I'm not going to react. My copper is too far away, and chariots require The Wheel, Hunting, the tile to be connected, and the actual chariot to be built. If he rushes me, I'm just dead due to moving my settler away from the copper. I will always defend that decision because although the initial SIP location turned out to be good in hindsight, at the time it was highly inferior to where I moved. And it's not like I went crazy and took a long trek to find a perfect spot.. I settled on T1. There was also no way to know that I would be placed on a very small island with 7 tiles between it's two inhabitants.

Kudos to HAK.

Galley is coming south to let the scout run wild. Fifth or sixth city goes to the south island.

hmm, ao nested quotes arent working for me.

also, jowy has horse adjacent to his capital tile, he should swap to hunting, improve while learning wheel, and get aome chars out. that would break the choke... doesnt seem too likely now though. HAK hasnt indicated he wants to pair up the attacking axe with anything, so it could still happen.

And I read Gaspars thread for another 10 pages... where is this damned list?
