Assuming unwoody scout survived the fights to pop the hut, of course.

If only lol

The no map trading is going to make this game weird. Scouting becomes valued more and for longer. Forget finding everyone (a challenge on its own), it's going to be nearly impossible to keep up to date on where everyone is placing cities! Once the empire is reasonably up and running (>t100) it's probably going to be worth creating a "mapping team" of caravels and explorers to just keep up to date on everything. If only for curiosity's sake.

Both workers move to forest's, will chop them out into a settler, then start roading to the spot for city 3 (SE-SE-SE of the capital)

Scout sees a lion, runs (to forest NW of himself) (forgot to get a picture of that, there wasnt anything super exciting, more forests to the west so I'll follow the wooded road so to speak).

Chop Chop Chop

Brady working the plains forest for 1t. 2h overflow + 28 (2t foodhammers) + 40 (chopping) = 70h in settler, -> whip

Guarding the city site.

Scout is playing dodge the animals. A bear popped up to my north, so I went south. Ended up next to the lion from earlier, so I had to go back the way I came.

I then saw a warrior from CH (from atop a hill). Going to head the way the warrior came from, probably where CH capital is.

CH settled new city, and looks like I'm hitting the coast.

Whipped settler, move next turn, found city t38. I think I'm going to get my 3rd before a few people get their 2nd.

Demos are pretty good (pre whip)

For viewing pleasure, the high level map of my local area (continent? There could be another civ to the east perhaps)

Looks like you should be able to secure a nice little corner for yourself here.
Really like the reports and read them regularly.

With that many players and the large map it is really nice to have the overview shot. Even when you lurk globally it's hard to grasp who is where on the map, so any help is appreciated!

Founded 3rd city, Gronk!

Player Profile: Robert Gronkowski. Tight End, #87

That time he landed on his neck for the touchdown:

The other contender for 2nd or 3rd best player on the Patriots roster, Gronk has been held back in recent years by season ending or multiple-game-missing injuries. None of them to the same place, some incredible freak accidents. It's been quite frustrating, because when hes healthy he's almost certainly the best all around tight end in the game. He's way too fast for most linebackers to cover, and way too big and tall for most cornerbacks to cover or... tackle. Speaking of tackle, here's my favorite gronk play:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIoNTSmxP7E

I saw best all-around tight end, because someone like Jimmy Graham is roughly on par with Gronk in terms of his catching ability / coverage mismatch. What Graham can't do is block. Graham is a glorified wide receiver (in fact, his agent tried to claim he was a wide receiver so he'd get more money from the Saint's franchise tag next year). Gronk on the other hand, is a top tier blocker as well as top tier pass catcher.

This is why the pats no-huddle offense is so much more effective with Gronk than without. With Gronk on the field, it's very hard for the other team to properly sub in defensive players to guard both the run and the pass, since Gronk can both block for the run like the best while being a top tier receiver. And since the defense doesn't get substitutes if the offense doesn't sub and plays quickly enough, teams get stuck in perennial mismatches.

I guess I do have to write about civ as well...

Got to 3 cities before Krovice got to 2

Kind of weird. It doesn't look like they're rushing me either given power graph

Krovice founds a city in my direction

What everything's up to:

Next turn (1t ahead of my sandbox cause of the event) Brady and Gronk will switch to a granary. Brady will whip it after putting 1t of hammers into it, Gronk will just be slowbuilding (No way am I whipping off that gold tile once I grow)Brady will then focus on growth onto newly-made cottage tiles whilst pumping out warriors.

Granary switches:

Wilfork will finish worker, who will start roading towards city site 4. Then it will switch to settler, using overflow from the chop + 1 more chop to finish in time to settle on t49.

This is vaguely threatening, but I have 2 warriors in the area so should be fine.

Great demos (tops in food and mfg). Too early to matter, but at least I'm certainly outexpanding everyone so far.
