This is really great, Ref bow

If only we could get Magister Cultrum in here, I'm sure he'd give us plenty of content smile

Edit:

Deruptus Brewing House
Quote:Everyone knows that a person named Deruptus made the first Brewing House in history, but no one actually knows who Deruptus really was. Many historians, along with all the dwarves in Erebus, claim that Deruptus was actually a dwarf who was tired of water and wanted something stronger, but there were several inconsistencies with the fact. Nevertheless, Deruptus made the first ale and thus had the honor of having all future brewing houses named after him.

Although ale makes a population happy, and provides more jobs to the empire, a ruler must live with the knowledge that too much ale will make the citizens weak. After the heavily-defended city of Dion was destroyed by Doviello invaders due to the intoxication of the military, all other empires have learned the wisdom of not having too much ale.

Nowadays, cities in an empire fight for having the honor of providing the empire's brewing house, as it provides many jobs, as well as ensuring that ale flows freely in the city. However, only cities situated on a river have the privilege to do so, as the brewing house requires flowing water to ensure that the machinery in it never stops. Depending on the technology level, the jobs in the brewing house is done by man or machine, but all brewing houses come with their trademarks, a red shiny roof and 2 huge ale barrels to the right of it.

3 years too late, but done all the same!

Everything else is written in. Thanks guys! Although I can't seem to find where the diplo text links from and to...

I actually have a copy of MMM lying around, so I can probably pilfer it if I can be bothered.

Why do Beastmasters cost 3,000 beakers to unlock whilst High Priests cost 10,000? (Cost of Tech + Immediate and semi-useful pre-req)

I know it leads to to Divine Essence, but sheesh.

Celestial Compass
Quote:“You said you had a proposal, Mr Merkwurdigliebe?”
“Y-yes, yes I did. It's a project we've been working on over at White Mesa. I'm sure you're familiar with that.”
“White Mesa? Tya Kiri's esoteric and frankly dangerous research facility? Yes, I am familiar with that. What's you're proposal?”
“It concerns spellcasting. It's the sort of thing you guys are interested in, being Amurites and all. In particular, it concerns large rituals.”
“How large?”
“Very large. The sort that get classified as 'rituals'.”
“And what is your proposal?”
“You know those 'rituals' I mentioned? We've discovered that the effectiveness of them is dependent on the relative position of the celestial sphere, by which I mean that at certain times of astral prominence the efficacy of ritual casting is improved. We have developed a device to aid in this matter.”
“What is this device then? Show it to me.”
Merkwurdigliebe showed Dain the device. “I call it a Celestial Compass, as it aids in celestial positioning. The constellation prominent in one part of the celestial sphere will not be so in another part, and this device allows us to calibrate the direction that the ritual is cast in. By using this device, we will be able to triangulate the correct position and direction required for a ritual to be cast at maximum efficacy, therefore saving large amounts of effort and magic on the part of the mages. This is a scaled-down version of it; the full model will be much larger.”
Dain pondered this for a while. “As interesting as your proposed 'Celestial Compass' is Merkwurdigliebe, I am unable to anticipate any situations where we would gain from the deployment of this device. Go back to White Mesa and tell Tya Kiri that we will not be buying this.”
“I shall go then Dain. But I warn you that if you don't buy this somebody else will. Somebody who needs it a lot more than you. Somebody who''l be needing to cast a lot of rituals.
“Somebody like Auric Ulvin.”
Merkwurdigliebe left.

Feel free to change Merkwurdigliebe's name. And yes, the explanation for why the Celestial Compass makes rituals cheaper is complete bull, but I haven't got much to work with. It's hardly as if the way rituals work is given.

Thanks, TheIanOakley. I may edit that slightly when I put it in.

Anyway, we've gotten a little sidetracked with the civilopedia update (I know I have!), but returning to the main mod:

Implemented:
Building Change: Planar Gate Spawn rates changed to the following: Increased to Roughly a Third of the AC, number of units changed to as bracketed [] (5% 0->9 [2], 10% 10->29 [4], 13% 30->39 [8], 17% 40->49 [10], 20% 50->59 [12], 23% 60->69 [14], 27% 70->79 [16], 30% 80->89 [18], 33% 90-99 [20], 40% 100 [25])

Any objections to the following:

Summoner recieves +4bpt

Sweet! I hope you don't mind if I remain distracted, writing a few more 'pedia entries, instead of commenting on e.g. appropriate ways to improve Summoner, as I don't think I'm sufficiently familiar with the mod to speak very intelligently about balance.

Also:

Quote:Although I can't seem to find where the diplo text links from and to...

I think I found it! (Assuming this is what you're takling about...) \Assets\XML\Gameinfo\CIV4DiplomacyInfos.xml links to the various diplo texts in \Assets\XML\Text\CIV4GameText_FFH2.xml and thus allows them to appear in-game. If it would help (since it's a lot of lines to search through and selectively replace and I know SP diplo has little to do with the heart of the mod) I can post (or send you) modified copies of both files with just the changes (from EitB) needed to add Volanna's lines.

Are you able to pull the tip from launchpad?

Hmm? What tip?

Thanks for the offer, RefSteel, but I edit GameText too often for it to be worth you making your own copy. I'll see what I can do.

Right, I should have realized that. On the other hand, the diplo text for the various leaders in various situations is all grouped together one after the other in there, so I can just post/send text to be copy/pasted over that section if that would make it easier.
