I gotta get behind commodore's plant idea - that's really the only reason to be protective, is to make plants like that and get all the best spots. What's the point of protective if you dont' have something to, you know... protect?

In this case, the point of protective is fast workers. In BTS, otherwise there is really never a point. I like the pink dot plan because it would be entertaining, but I'll also feel kinda bad for Pindicator if Commodore goes forward with it. Basically, Pindicator is on a huge losing streak in recent games with neighbor luck, he can't catch a break.

I agree with AT, Protective is a feeble trait, but it is still a trait- I've seen people talk about it as though it were nonexistent or somehow even a net minus. It would be silly to completely write it off when one of the rare situations shows itself where it could actually be reasonably useful. Protective Archers with appropriate defensive bonuses should be able to cost-effectively tank anything pre-Catapults, plenty of time to get that "pink dot" established.

I gotta agree. Seeing protective archer in a city on a hill is such a demoralizing sight to the other player that I think the trait is does work just on a psychological-terrorism-level alone. Add in a single-pop whip walls... I think Commodore will be able to hold that site at a small fraction of the cost of a leader of any other trait. Whether that's actually a good thing or not, we'll find out!

Oh god, I hope Commodore doesn't go through with his pink dot plan. He will have horses nearby but not in the capital BFC. If he does this, then pindicator may be forced to expand in the other direction, which is bad, bad, bad.

Close. It's something else related to Greek Mythology...

Oh man, now you really piqued my interest!! A kraken perhaps? (Barb subs in the sea of tears?) Perhaps a set of Augean stables? (jungled horses to complement the forested copper?)
... Queen Hippolyta's girdle..?
