So, you know how it goes. If you are one of the other players playing in this game, you should not be reading this.

First, let me welcome you Dreylin. Glad to have you on board.
And let me introduce myself with few words. I played in quite a few sites and different rules Civ4. Now I am trying to adapt to the way civ is played over here. Had played few pitbosses here already with mixed feelings and success. I live in Eastern Europe, so my timezone is GMT +2.
For reference, here are some basic stuff like players, bans, settings. (Last time I ended building TGLH in PB17 only to cause reload and to lose the hammers as it was banned LOL)
Players:
1. Mackoti
2. HitAnyKey/Cornflakes
3. TrulyDiabolicalCupcake/AdrienIer
4. Plako
5. 2metraninja
6. Furungy
7. Gawdzak
8. Dtay
9. GermanJojo/Borsche
10. Gavagai
11. Commodore
Settings:
Mod: RBmod's latest version. Minor tweaks are cooked up in the RBmod thread so please check things from there.
Leaders/civs: Snake Pick
Difficulty: Monarch
Speed: Normal
Vassals: off
TT: off
Huts: on
Events: on
Barbs: on
Espionage: on
Diplo: AI-diplo
Rules:
Double moves: Don't be a jerk. Peace time or when you're not planning to start war play as soon as it is possible and most times no need to be taking into account potential double moves. During war preparation turn and war times double moves are not allowed.
Other:
* No city gifting or trading
* No using trade window to communicate (e.g. using letters or numbers in a way that could be interpreted something else than a real trade offer)

OK, I will have to find a better solution for posting pics, which do not disturb forum borders.

I think there is a "screenshot" tag which automatically resizes to the reduced width and then expands on click.
Re: the start, I imagine everyone has been given a sugar to settle on, and we should /probably/ do the same to start the snowball on equal terms - plus that's prolly what the mapmaker intended.

So what are your thoughts one picks? Not sure how much help I'll be since I've not done this for a while (I'll devote the next post to my bio) and haven't played with the mod yet.
We ideally want Hunting (Sheep) or Agri to start and give us research flexibility. Do we want to try for a Religion and pair with Myst? (Might have to have a Civs list available to look what the pairings lead to... Or do we pull Leader first? Fin has been neutered somewhat in the mod, but is still v. good and easy to play - pair with an early advantage like EXP maybe? Lose a turn and settle a plains hill?
Looking again, I'm tempted by a move 1NW which gets the same resources but loses the extra city food - probably not with it - and gains what looks like an FP in the fog to West. (BTW, Scout to West looks good too).

OK, so Dreylin's bio; those who've been around a while may remember me - I came over in the early days of Civ IV via the Spanish Isolationists at CFC. I wrote some reports and then took part in the first few RB Multiplayer games - check out PBEM1 for my greatest moment. Then a combo of greater job responsibilities and starting a family caused me to leave ... that was ~3yrs ago.
My current job is a bit more relaxed and I'm getting used to the family (we now have 3) and I ended up getting the bug again after reading Sullla's AI March Madness.
So here I am.
Two caveats:
1) I'm about to go on holiday for 3wks - should be able to check in regularly, but not guaranteed.
2) my current CIV laptop is aging and has heating and wireless problems. At the moment I can probably cobble access to play a turn if needed, but not reliably (& not until after holiday). A replacement machine is probably a medium-term prospect.
Oh, and I'm in Houston, so GMT -6 and my play hours are evenings only: 8-11pm local time. Depending on workload I'm usually around during the day (8am-5pm) on the forum.

Picks so far:
China (I gather this is widely considered the best civ - Agri & Mining and a great UU)
Boudica (CHM & AGG; fingers crossed we don't start too close to them, as that combo is going to eat someone...)
Korea (Good UU & UB, Mining & Myst to start - straight to BW, or maybe try for a Religion?)
So one more pick until it gets here.
My current feeling would be to grab a good leader - Pacal, Darius, Hannibal...??? (personally leaning on the Fin crutch of easy to play) - and then see what Civs come back around to us. Although that's probably because I don't have a strong call toward anything in particular on the civs list and see lots of options.
Oh, and I forgot to say earlier, thanks for inviting me onboard!

Actually, looking at the mod changelogs I'm seeing more options in the other traits, particularly Aggressive's cheap Barracks since they now generate culture. And there's a city maintenance reduction....

plako takes Sumeria (early, cheap courthouse; souped-up Axe, Wheel & Agri)
Guess we're up...
