The idea was to 3-pop whip the settler and overflow into a 1t worker. But there's really not much thought behind, other than we only lose 2t building the settler and 1t on the worker.

But if you start building the settler 2 turns early (size 4) wouldn't be the same?

I'll check the save and the sandbox to compare. But the big thing when settling new cities is that each city inflates the number of city maintenance on the others, so the tenth city itself may cost only 5g, but in total, it can add up to something like 14g (5g + 1 for each of the other cities).

Either that or I messed up the sandbox. lol

Perhaps. I need to test it. That's one of my big weaknesses in Civ - I find a plan I like and I start polishing it, but I never try other alternatives. And most of the time, the first plan wasn't that well reasoned either.

Do you plan on whipping the settler that you start at size 4?

I know that but I was asuming this was like pbem61 which aparently is not. Definitely exp looks stronger now.

I don't know I think that maybe you are making to many workers, what is exactly the plan for the ivory btw?

So, I tried some simulations.

By growing to size 6 (size 5 is pretty similar to growing to 6, it comes down to details, as far as I can see) and whipping thr settler for 3-pop, I can settle the third city on turn 31. I can finish Poly at eot 33. The microplan also flows better afterwards, with a 1-turn worker with the settler overflow and how the city grows afterwards.

Whipping the settler for 2 at size 4 gets the third city on turn 30. That's a turn flat out better. But that's the main advantage. It needs 2 turns to finish a worker with overflow and EG has to stay at size 2 for this; so, as far as EG is concerned, growing to size 6 is better. If I want a turn 33 Poly, I can't get that worker with overflow and third city can't get a granary in 4 turns.

The third city with the size 4 plan is the big plus. It's faster. But I need to waste some worker turns to keep that advantage (that means, finishing the same micro plan as the city settled 1 turn later, with a 4 turn granary), due to inneficience.

My instict says growing to 6 is better, because it's more fluid afterwards. But I bet a more cutthroat player could make the size 4 idea work...

Super fast comments.
Size 5 and 6 should be pretty much the same.

I was thinking making the worker at size 4, it takes 3 turns but you get it ealry which means more worker turns to time things better.
I'm not sure how you wasted worker turns

I'm asumming you are growing in an axe right? What is the second city doing? A warrior?

Is a shame there isn't food in the west. One time that looks suspicious is the islands in the lakes. This probably means one island is yours and the other from an opponent. If tihs is true that is pretty close.

Also I see THH second city has two food rant

You should be first on food now you could at least post the demos to brag!

Maybe you can post some pictures of eot from this turn so I can try some simming tonight mischief

I didn't want to hold up the save, so I went for the grow to 6 plan. I promise to post the detailed micro today.

I'm growing EG on an axe, yes. LS grows on a warrior and, right now, I'm thinking of a settler at size 4.

THH second city has three food. Irrigated corn, wheat and deer. Plus a river. And none of the resources are shared with his Capital. THH's second city is not only way better than my second city, it's better than my Capital. We need to expand crazy fast to get that big river valley for ourselves. The rest of the land is very bad, no food, no rivers... The place with food needs Calendar to hook it... THH already has a very settleable stone, we need that marble then...

It's important that we explore the water where our Capital is... I don't want to have a boatable Capital, especially since my opponents Capitals are likely inland, for the most part.

I like the idea of getting religion, even if we go for Judaism, since I want OR too. We need the ability to get missionaries...

So much for that update mischief

Just joking I know we all busy alright
I did check the latest save! Why did you move the worker into the forest and not to the hill.
Also, you almost cirumnavegate map, so you probably are going to met your neigbors in the remaining fog!
