REM, you shouldn't be giving Pindicator tactical advice like that if you're globally spoiled.

Oh I thought it was ok as I waited for him to settle? I didn't say beforehand as I didn't want to influence his settle decision. I was just commentating on why I thought it was good... Do you think I should take it down?

Yeah, you probably should, but you can repost it here. I mean, think about how you'd feel if, after PBEM61, as you're reading your opponents threads for the first time, you see someone gave tactical advice to one of an opponent of yours, who responded like "oh wow, you're right, I didn't even think of that before." And it turns out that was the surprise tactic they used to kill you? Wouldn't you be pretty peeved?

I would honestly be more peeved at myself for allowing myself to be killed in a surprise tactic. Being outproduced and teched I can take, but a cheeky instant war win... As I'm used to units getting the drop on you with easy double moves if I die to that I should be shot! But I can understand some people might be annoyed at me. I would delete it if I thought it would help, although as Pin has quoted me there is limited use to that now.
I just didn't think it changed anything which was why I posted it. He had settled there already, although thinking about it further now he may never have noticed the instant attack potential (although that is unlikely). I will not post like that in the future. Sorry.

I don't think that, in this particular case, it matters. But it's a bad habit to get into.
I've got no problems with saying "nice move!"
and, btw, I think it was a very nice move by pindicator - taking advantage of his early cottage to snake poly out from under the other guy going for it and countering a tough, in your face plant. That's a great city site for pindicator - 2 food, copper, several hills and even fur. Lot of things he could do there - Heroic Epic, National Epic or just bulld a bunch of wonders there.
Completed: PBEM 34g (W), 36 , 35 , 5o, 34s, 5p, 42, 48 and PB 9, 18, 27, 57
Current: PB 52. Boudicca of Maya

It was meant as that type of post, he has done really well there. I completely agree it is a cracking location and very easy to defend, and easy to attack out of. I just felt a bit bad for him with the way things had gone in the game so far and thought he would appreciate some praise...
Oh and in answer to your question, culture is applied after science so you get culture from a religion founding that turn, and on quick = instant border pop. Unless choose religions is on.

To be fair, attacking a city with 2 movers by controlling the diagonal is hardly a novel tactic, Pin would certainly have thought of that himself. And it'd be pretty impossible for him not to notice the vision from the mountain. In general, you do have to be careful though.

I think commodore's plan has a hole in it, no? he's planning on roading a forest SE of his city and then hitting an axe 3 tiles from where he is - the problem is, he doesn't have construction, so the road doesn't help him going in, i don't think.
in other words, I think he crosses the river and stops.

You're right, I was thinking that too. But then I assumed that he meant he was going to move south, then east, then southeast. But that does need both of those tiles to be roaded.
Edit - doesn't look like he has roaded the tile south of the city ready for next turn actually, so I think he may have overlooked the river... I guess he would have to move onto that tile with a unit to protect the workers from the axe, so either he shows pin the chariot or spooks pin with a road built it seems...

Man, poor Pin. I wonder if THH will be next- doesn't look like he has any real military, and Dazed could have War Chariots flanking his cities within a few turns. Ichabod seriously lucked out with the neighbors here- his development is really impressive too.
