Any reasonable way to pick up that ivory, or will you just wait for capital 3rd ring? Ivory and Gems looks to be the only sources of happiness for a while, and it doesn't look like the gems can be got to before IW. How much of a priority will Hereditary Rule be?

Well, 3rd ring is what, T38? That's really not terribly long to wait. Even if there's food to the south to justify a city, it might not be possible by then.

But also, I'm sure it depends a lot on what's in the fog yet. Maybe there's three wet corn on a river!

(100 culture needed, 2/turn until 1000years have passed, which is T25, then 4/turn for 13 more turns to cross the line)

Palace culture doesn't double, alas. I hope to be able to entirely bypass the question by finding some food for an ivory city, because otherwise I will be waiting until turn 50...the happy is only worth something in terms of "more citizens", and settling a foodless ivory/grass farms filler city won't make up the citizen gap, better to settle instead for a city with actual food* and grow it faster, while using the city at cap to make more workers. It's not like turn 50 is all that far away; the fourth city will only be settled about that time anyway.

Um. So this is definitely one of them good news/bad news kinds of turns. Hut, two more decent food sources, fog showing flood plains. That's all pretty solid, for all that this is definitely second ring city spot(s)...

...on the other hand. This.

Don't worry, plako is always a really nice neighbor, right up until he decides it's time to kill you.

PB18 spoiler (sorry Whosit):
You can try to deter him with deity warmonger AI levels of units. As long as he has someone else to kill you may live longer and die later that way. Maybe even long enough to enjoy your game before reaching the almost inevitable gruesome death plako's neighbors usually experience. nod
Nice guy, terrible, terrible neighbor. cry

Are you accusing me of and providing documentary evidence for me not remembering something I wrote only a few weeks ago? For shame, sir, for shame. How is anyone supposed to remember these things, AND be consistently on message? lol

It's ok, Xenu, you're busy enough oppressing those Thetans. whip

I'm just glad that we're finally finding FOOOD! It's starting to look like we can keep expanding while we research IW, instead of having to do something odd and unpleasant.

Heh heh heh, bets on dtay being the next player you meet? Plako even has the high score already, if that means anything (popped techs?). At least plako appears to be across some water. He can't get to you... yet. (Looks like a navy might become important.)

Looking forward to what the scout uncovers over the next few turns, as I am unsure how those food resources would be best distributed right now. Think it's still worthwhile to settle that coastal city to grab a clam off the capital?
