[Spoilers] PBEM 62 - Ichabod's Thread, feat. Mardoc and retep

Well to be fair my plan do works. The second one(the one in paint) no the first one.

The difference is that I finish the cottage 1SW of PMM before roading while you start imporving the deer 1turn sooner.

I'm a bit confused about the tech path. I think that now Are you researching hunting before masonry-Mono?

The workers that would finisht the cottage 1NE of LS, what are they doing ater that? You could split then, one to improve tiles over GT and to improve around the capital...

We need more military yes but at the same time it feel like we don't, is strange, since the other 4 players are fighting each other there are less likely to start a war against you but better to be prepare nevertheless.

Sorry, I thought the plans were the same (the first and the one in the picture). Yeah, the one in the picture works. Well, it doesn't make that much of a difference. By the way, I hadn't even realize before you said that we could get the city settled on turn 41, I didn't consider roading the pigs. duh

I'm teching hunting because we need it for the deer on the 5th city. We don't have time to finish Masonry + Mono by the time we want to start improving the deer, so I decided to make this little detour. Hopefully, we won't lose judaism because of that. Seeing that Commodore has a religion, Pindi had a religion, dazed has Stonehenge, only THH would maybe head there, but I'd expect him to go more towards the conventional Mathematics.

I was using both the workers near LS to improve the tiles between LS and GT. You are right that the Capital needs some love with workers. My plan was to use the one we get after overflowing the settler into a worker and the one mining 2S of PPM to improve EG. Since EG will be whipped down to size 3, I think those 2 are enough.

I think I'll scout a bit more with the scout and use him to have vision on that land to the East of EG. So, we'd be warned if Commodore wanted to attack us. We'll have more military near THH and I don't think he'll want to bring units towards us considering that there's a lot of land between us, he's at war and there're barbs in the map. But better to be safe than sorry, something like 2 Spears, 1 axe in each of the border cities could be a good idea (not right now, but in the near future).

THH has writing, he can do open borders. So, yeah, the only way we lose Judaism is if Pindicator goes for it (likely as a troll move) or if Dazed wants a religion on top of Stonehenge.

Hunting is okay and that make more sense to upgrade the warrior to the spearman (that is what I meant with the timming)

I think is okay delaying the religion as you said there isn't any real competition for it.
Also where do you think is Daded?

Seeing THH's thread title, I'm assuming he lost a city to Dazed. That likely means a War Chariot attack by Dazed. If there was a real attack, Dazed is probably N of THH, since we explored to his south.

So...

Do you think we take the risk of planting the sheep city with only an axe on defense? It's fairly close to where Dazeds chariots are likely to be. One different plan could be to settle marble city with the settler from PPM and whip a spear in GT to have a decent defense there. Is suboptimal, but safer.

But we can also risk it. I don't think Dazed would go on a killing spree across the map...

Gotta go, continue soon.

If Dazed is attacking THH, he needs to keep a good garrisson in the cities he took and there's no way he can magick so much production to get Stonehenge, attack THH and still attack us, the nation he does not know.

I still favor the sheep city, but I'm a bit afraid. There's a window we could be hit before we can stabilize and that's worrisome. I need to see how fast we can grow the sheep city to size 2 and have it connected to our trade routes. After that, we could whip a spear if needed, which would make things safer.

Plains sheep is 4fpt, so I want sheep city to have sheep improved atleast on the second turn, to grow on 4 turns (2 + 4*3 = 14). It seems doable. And if we have a road connection to 5th city, I think sheep city will also be connected, due to sea inside the borders.

Interesting times ahead.

I think you might be reading to much into his title.

First as I understabd pbem, the events should have gon like this.
Dazed is first in turn order, so in his turn he declare war to THH.
Then the save get to you, when I check THH has his 3 cities.
Then the save get to THH.

From this I asume he hasn't lost any city but he could have lost a settler or a worker which would also set him back quite a bit.
This could also be a scout going through his land or a wandering WC takng oportunistic shoots.

Also THH has 3 cities, one we can see the borders, his capital, and one more north of his capital (since you have explore south of his capital and there is not city there)
I think Dazed should be at the other side of that lake, so the city should be relative safe.
It is 3 tiles apart to the fifth city so just puts some hammers in a spear over there and in the worse case scenario you make an emergency whip.

Well there is also the posibility I'm being to optimistic, but I think things will be fine.

You are right, there's no way THH could have lost a city last turn, because he was still at three. Only if Dazed raze the city that THH settled the previous turn, so we never saw it on the trading screen. Perhaps we will see him losing one next turn...

With all this warring going on, perhaps we will be able to get the Pyramids without significant investments. That'd be nice! Dazed has the best incentive to go there, I think, since he's PHI, but who knows.

What do you think of a monument in the Gems city? To get Stone in border fast and the crab too, which would be shared with the sheep city. Might be a good idea after the granary. We chop the granary at size 2 (pretty sure we can time this right) and we whip the city when it reaches size 3 for the monument (perhaps a good move anyway, if we don't have improved tiles to work). After that, we grow on a Work boat. Sounds good?

The holy city will fall randomly, but the better chances are on the city with more pop. So I'll try to time that so that it doesn't fall on a city with a monument.

That could be posible but then the city autoraze so he couldn't have keep th city like you said first neenerneener

Yes I know the mids are great but lets no try to take things one step at the time.

About the monument, what is the eta for Mono? I was thinking maybe 9-10t?
For the fifth city to grow to size 3 it would need 10t? I may be worth it, although I'd kind of suck if we get an immediate spread over there.

Actually what worries me more is that in fact Dazed is attacking/putting presure in THH from his north then he is more likely to try to expand in your direction.
