[Spoilers] REM and AdrienIer's thread of football, spamming and blaming it on the mod

Well obviously I was hoping for some Bale magic, but a draw against the team we are essentially competing with for a place in the euros I will take. That is on the assumption that we do get the 3 points from Cyprus at home Monday mind! We are also missing a few of our big premier league names so all in all I'm pretty happy.

Haha that is quite funny. Guess he wanted the hattrick!

Played the next turn. Whipped the settler. Third road will be built next turn. kept the warriors still again, no need to move either. Only thing I have realised is that we should keep Ronaldo in the cap for the next 2 turns. No one is gonna steal that hut and he has limited use after. However we will hit needing to pay gold to have units out of borders with the 2 scouts, 2 wars and worker/settler combo, so might as well wait until the city is settled before he moves.

Poly still is free.

I have done some simming with the next worker, I think he should put a turn of mining into the SE hill, a turn of chopping onto the new forest road and then can help road to the new city. The new City will be settled will have a road connection in 3 turns rather than 4 then. We can then grow the cap on a warrior/workboat and get another settler at size 4, possibly with a whip again. I am open to other suggestions but cannot think of a better plan than this.

Ok for the worker plan. What do you think of teching hunting after we're done with the religion thing ? It'll mean less beakers for AH and it's a prerequisite to archery. Of course it delays AH slightly but maybe we can live with that ? I'm not completely sure it's worth it.

I renamed the second warrior Zlatan Ibrahimovic, because seing his name next to (warrior) seemed fitting. You can chose the next name (we can also let lurkers decide after that).

Definitely need hunting before animal husbandry. No point in having animal husbandry without having hunting unless it would change where we would settle as we can't use it until having hunting!

Which of our many lurkers were you thinking of naming our mext unit? tongue

What do you think for the build to grow on? I think a war for mp is best as we will want those 2 to cover the far reaching third city.

I'm not sure... Once again we come across the problem of not knowing if we can get hindu, because if we can't get culture for the clams a WB is useless. How long before we have to make the decision ? (so how long till the worker is out ?)
Also do you think the second city should be named Melbourne Cricket Ground or Camp Nou ? The MCG is bigger and has hosted an olympic final in 56, but I don't mind skipping it, especially since it's not a football stadium originally.

Workboat would be a spare either ready for city 3 or 4. The one for 2 I envisage chopping at the city. With 1 chop we can get a workboat out from scratch in a single turn. It is basically just something useful to grow on.

As I said my preference was warrior over workboat. The worker is built in 3 turns after the settler. I think that is a couple of turns before snagging poly.

I'm easy with the naming. I think sticking to the list is probably better though.

Ok we'll go with Melbourne Cricket Ground (I'm skipping the stadiums that have never been used for important football matches). With 2 workers at MCG and practically nothing to do chopping a workboat is probably a good idea, although if we miss on hindu that chop should probably go on a monument.

Oh I expect one to head back to help chop out the next settler to speed it along, whilst the other chops then roads.

Turn rolled, half played. Roaded and moved the warrior/settler. Nothing to threaten the worker there. However the bear has showed itself, in an awkward position. (don't have a mouse atm so cannot zoom)

Now Webb isn't the issue. If he moves to any of the squares west of there then he could hit the settler next turn. Whilst we would have odds moving Webb there they would only be around 30-40% I think (it would be 1.96*1.75 vs 3) I do not think we should take that risk... What do you think?

We have 3 options,
1) either move to the hill and hope for the best and see if the bear does move towards us.
2) use Webb as bait to keep the bear away (we would have negative odds on the forest sadly)
3) use the scout to move to the forest tile where the worker is and allow him to cover the city with Webb also (so if we do lose the odds then we don't at least lose the settler) This does cost us and extra 1gpt though... Pfft

(or I suppose we could delay the settle - not the best Idea in my mind)

I think 3 is best. I do not want to kill our chances risking the settler, and I think 1gold is worth the piece of mind. If you agree move the scout onto the square with the warrior and settler. If the bear did not move towards the hill we can move him back towards the cap the next turn. Also if so we should move webb to the hill we intend to settle to cover the settler also.

Next turnI think the worker should go to that forest tile and start roading, the quicker we connect the cities the quicker the free trade commerce smile

I just tested and there's a 20% bonus when attacking animals, do you know if it's the same on defense ? It changes things slightly as we then have far better chances if we were to go for 1) or 2). Don't have time to sim it now (France-Portugal's second half is starting in like 2mn). Risking the settler (even at like 10% odds) is probably a bad idea, but then option 2 is definitely a possibility depending on odds.

What difficulty are you simming on? Bare in mind it is monarch so I didn't think there was one. (It is same on offence and defence) It's no rush, a while before we need to decide. I disliked 2 as there is a small chance the bear doesn't take the bait and then we are in a huge pickle and unable to settle...

Whereas with 3 we will have good odds to kill the hear if he moves towards us, and definitely will have no risk settling.

I'll have to watch the game highlights on the roundup show later - good luck! smile

I just looked at the odds for attacking the bear ingame and there was a +20% against animals. You're right that the bear can ignore Webb altogether, I think that left to myself I'd just move Webb on the hill and reconsider my options if the bear does move west. But I wouldn't mind your option.
