Oxy changes his naming scheme to Community... and inexplicably doesn't get cancelled

Seems too risky as of right now because it's possible to move from the fog straight onto a jungle tile for cover and if we chop the forest tile we're vulernable to mounted units, especially with our player being significantly lower than their's.

Wow, these turns are really boring now that we're in a cold war--at least I'm posting my pictures in a timely fashion (here for T156) even if I'm not writing a report every single turn--it appears a lot of players aren't even doing that as much.

Of course, this turn (technically the second half of last turn) doesn't need me to be making news: xenu actually took back all three cities that plako didn't burn, keeping them all! Even more shocking, xenu did so many whips that his score still went down this turn! eek
Of course, plako still has a big power lead over xenu (and likely most of the field to be honest, based on how large the margin is), so the question is how this could happen? I feel like some questions will be answered once plako plays the turn, as I assume that he'll retake some of the cities at least. I'm assuming xenu's Cats and two-movers must have gone over to the western side to fight plako, but I don't know how far that is exactly from the main front.
(Edit: plako retook two of the cities according to the tracker, and appears to have kept one and burned one (though that's a rough estimate obviously without logging in))

Other than the constant question of when to found the new city (which probably won't be for a while now), the other two things I'm not sure about are what to do with my two Great Generals, as well as the Great Person coming out of Pierce in about five turns (about 50% chance it's a Merchant, 30% chance Engineer, 17% Scientist, 3% Artist). I'm also wondering if xenu will come running to us asking for peace, especially considering we started those negotiations a couple turns ago--what should we take if anything?

Is there anything the lurkers want to see? I take a bunch of pictures every turn, and want to give people want they want (and I want more lurker interaction than "you're working a jungle over a rice tile"--though that's certainly helpful too smile )

Looking at the power it looks like we'll be swallowed right after Plako finishes with Xenu. I think we should settle our GG's in our likely HE city.

*sigh* I really want to make a turn report for this turn, but I'm a bit under the weather at the moment, and thus don't want to invest that much effort frown

Until then, the pictures are here, but I still want some input BaII--I'm thinking I might move up on SS next turn. I have a bunch of units ready (if you're looking at the pictures, I have two more Knights in Britta I moved up after the screenshots), and based on plako's power losses I'm assuming the Cat/Mounted stack is involved in those skirmishes. Is there any reason why I shouldn't move the stack up?

One more thing--my old Zulu civ was finally overtaken (by Krill/novice)--shed a tear frown
(and I was about to make a minor comeback too frown )

If their are still units left over that do not have a 2nd promotion you should have the GG grant them an extra promotion. Although I don't think moving up on SS would be great, with the biggest thing happening is either leave xenu in sacking the city or decimating our stack. As long as we keep Plako knowing that we are still fighting and that should incentivize him to keep on attacking and we'll eventually take some cities from xenu as he's already burned through so much of his pop.

Uh...I'm a bit confused by your last statement BaII--you don't think we should move up on SS, but we want plako to know we're still fighting. Is there an easy way to do so without trying to actively attack, or is just staying at war with xenu enough?

Since the turn rolled early (and appears to be rolling in the evening for the near future--at least until another pause happens wink ), I got the pre-turn pictures here, so you can look at them if you get a chance, since I'm hoping you'll clarify your statement a bit?

As I mentioned in the thread, civs are really dropping like flies now. If we ignore the lurker civ, there are 27 civs left alive--and they actually fit pretty nicely into tiers. For fun, I'll go through them (and hopefully get a report done soon, maybe even right after--the military picture is ready, so it should be relatively easy to write):

How are they still alive? (4 civs):
* johns 338
* BRickAstley + Mardoc 252
* Caledorn 244
* Azza 180

In general, these civs are dead, and just waiting to be put out of their misery (and are even in wars as we speak in some cases)--special consideration goes to Azza (his score is lower than mine was, and my previous life's knowledge backs up that claim) and johns (who could be in the next tier, but the whole "retire to AI" situation puts a damper on the civ's chances wink )

On a significant downturn (5 civs):
* spacetyrantxenu 456
* yuris125 422
* Bacchus 413
* HitAnyKey 391
* Qgqqqqq / LexiSilva 362
These civs are/were on the losing end of wars, but aren't completely out of it (though their chances certainly don't look good). Q's the special case here (Q and Dhal could be a new tier, but I don't want too many tiers tongue )

Struggling, but still winnable (5 civs):
* Molach 545
* Cheater Hater 540
* wetbandit 520
* Nakor 507
* Ruff_Hi 501
These civs all have obvious flaws, but also a reason to be hopeful (decent number of cities, large amount of pop, a wonder)--also, why does the tracker only list me, and not me and BaII? tongue

Average, but average is winning in this game (4 civs):
* plako 694
* Cyneheard 639
* dazedroyalty 624
* AutomatedTeller 589
This tier is the most surprising--someone like plako can be dominating in many aspects, but still only in the middle of the surviving civs. I guess that shows just how far ahead the leaders are...

Very good, but this game has some runaways (5 civs):
* pindicator 889
* GermanJoey 828
* The Black Sword 827
* Zanth\Gagavai 784
* WilliamLP 782
Here's where you start to get to the winners of some wars, as the tracker can tell--for example pindicator was the main recipient of Barry's lands. In fact, pindicator is a border case, and could be in either this category or the next one...

The runaway leaders (4 civs):
* dtay 1119
* Boldly Going Nowhere 1036
* Old Harry + Fintourist 946
* Krill + Novice 940
These categories are the union of war winners (multiple wars in some cases), along with some wonders to push things along. Using just what I can remember off the top of my head (3 of these civs were near me even) that can be confirmed by the tracker/tech screen/top cities:
  • dtay has won multiple wars--he swallowed about half of Whosit, as well as all of my former civ--and also has multiple wonders (though I can't remember which off the top of head--I think he has Great Lighthouse among others?)
  • BGN I know least about--I think the tracker showed him demolishing Furungy, and he has a wonder or two?
  • FinHarry took the majority of Azza's territory (but didn't finish him for some reason?), and now is tearing through Mardoc
  • Krill/novice got the early Pyramids, and got some of Whosit's territory

Anyway, I hope the lurkers enjoyed that--the T158 should come tomorrow smile

f9 wonder list might clarify some of your border cases. How many civs have you met?

I mean I think we should move up with extreme caution because I'm sure Xenu could easily wipe a stack if Plako doesn't have another stack preoccupied over by his front.

Come on--has that been 3 consecutive turns with an elimination? And none of them were Azza? tongue
T158 Report/T159 Preturn:
To start with, last turn's military picture--SS has the same units at the beginning of this turn, and my forces are the same I think, with the exception of a new Knight in Britta (that stays there this turn, but can hit SS next turn)

Xenu's troops:
1 Longbow
1 Knight
4 WE
3 Pikes
1 Axe
4 Archers

My troops:
14 Knights
10 Maces
4 Pikes
22 Cats

Overall, not counting my Cats, I have a 2-to-1 unit advantage on xenu, but again, we don't know where that stack is (and xenu still leads us in power). What I really need to do sim this attack--I mean, we almost certainly will win, but I need to know how bad the losses would be (as well as what the bombard/suicide mix of the cats should be).

There's more C&D type stuff, but I don't care about that right now--I'll just update the rankings with new info tongue

Right now I know 20 civs (counting the lurker civ), which means there are only 6 civs left. Of course, the problem with this is that I can't make the interconnections between player->civ/leader->in-game civ name for most of the civs, simply because there are so many tongue

I also got the wonder list (sitting in the pre-turn folder, along with everything else here), and the important differentiations for the top tier are:
  • dtay has Oracle and Colossus (not Great Lighthouse, I was close tongue ), along with a shrine
  • BGN (he's National Park Service right?) has the Great Library and Taj, as well as the relatively minor Statue of Zeus, Angkor Wat, and Parthenon
  • plako has the Great Lighthouse
  • Ruff has Stonehenge
  • Krill/novice have the Pyramids

As to BaII's latest post (since I was really slow in writing this post tongue ), when do you think we should strike? The main reason I want to strike sooner rather than later is that xenu's about to get Gunpowder, and I'm worried that will be a tipping point.

Also BaII, what tech should we go for next? I currently having us 1-turning Aesthetics at 50% science (to proceed along the Curraissiers plan), but could be persuaded to change that if you wish--maybe to a Printing Press line to recover our GNP?

On that note, a humorous note before I go--this is what the tech scaling/known tech bonuses do to the "choose a tech" screen tongue
