MILITARY.
We are not ready to build expensive HA's and will not find good use for swords. So we build spears which are good enough without barracks, so are our axes. The conclusion is that we dont need much hammers to maintain effective defense.

My view on our front and sentry line is on the screenshot below.

Initially it seems that the front must be placed on the hill. But I dont like planting on the only forest. Flat front will work faster (have 3-food tiles to work) and build walls faster if necessary (can be chopped). Not irrigated wheat is not worth to move forward to it and spark conflict with dtay earlier than we need.
And to the south we just put small sentry group and fortify it on the forest hill.

One small but important thing. We need to make WB for exploration. Let's do it in LM. We can land it into one of our sea resourses later, but right now we need better view of the closest islands. May be we find other nations across the sea. We must know everything.

I also reworked the plan for the city on the coast. We chop monument there and spend another chop on the granary. Building library is not smart and we save one chop for CAP.

TECH PLAN
Some obvious considerations:

Mathematics (chops)
Metal Casting (Colossus)
Sailing --> Calendar (+2 happy, some commerce, lighthouses)
Alphabet --> Currency (trade routes, foreign or islands cities, cheap markets)
Polytheism, Priesthood, Monotheism, Monarchy --> Feudalism (civics)
Archery --> Horseback riding
Machinery (windmills --> serform later)
Guilds (Knights)

Turn report:

Our first diplo window. I said no. We can always re-propose, but I don't think we have as much to gain as he does. We have a pretty full view of his lands, while he has no idea of ours - infact, given the order he met us, he probably thinks that we are his immediate neighbour and not dtay. He may have a good map of the North (we know he has met at least one civ other than us or dtay because of his EP spend), but that's not worth the intel he'd gain from us.

I kept the Worker back from the front; we still have time to chop the city-site forest before founding, and this way it will be after we get Maths. Instead I finished the Sheep Pasture, which will allow 54 to grow in 2t once the Settler is finished (and improves the yield by 1c for same foodhammers. With the chop, we could get a unit or put a chunk into either a Granary or Library. I also started a Cottage in the East which can be shared between 54 and the new city.

I like the plan. Need to confirm some specifics:

54: Settler pump w/ units in between. Preserve Forests for Wonder. Needs Granary & Aqueduct.

Samarkand: Units (maybe a Worker?). Needs a Library at some point, but not urgent.

Bodmin: maxed at size4 and slow-building a Library.

Los Millares: own WB, then WBs & units. Needs a Granary, but not urgent.

City #5 (SheepCrabs): 1 chop into Granary; preserve remaining forests, build WB.

When do we plant the city on the Horses, is that next out of the Cap, or is it still on the back-burner? It will get going fast so I'm thinking it's pretty soon?

Power suggests dtay rolled his first Chariot last turn (matching our Spear build). His Copper is still not connected, so we should build Spears not Axes.

Leave portugese names till we find better ones imho.

It is good city, especially if we suceed on building Colossus. We need precise plan with certain turns for each city.

I agree we need like 3 axes for 10 spears. On dtay's place I'd go all HA. This is hard to counter.

Chop diagonal forest marked as "?" into granary. I am not sure. I have checked that all forests are enough for forge and Colossus, but some of them are shared with Cap, so makes it harder for us to build HG. Need some kind of balance. Though Colossus is more important imho and there can be real challenge for it with the one who builds Oracle especially if it is industrial civ.

Barbs are not playing fair; in both cases they chose to not suicide. No problem at Samarkand where we have actual units (1xp for our first Axe), but down South it's causing some shuffling of Workers. On the plus side I guess, one of the dislodged ones has headed to Samarkand, which will need another improved tile when it grows again in 3t (it can borrow from 54, but then so is everyone else...!)

Dolly has spotted another Barb North of Commodore, but it shouldn't hit her and now she's on a forest hill with good views & escape routes, so will stop to heal before pushing on to meet plako.

Samarkand started on a second Spear - I really wanted an Axe for Barb duty, but since we're just seeing Warriors a Spear can do that just as well and we need them vs. dtay.

Question: what improvement do we want here next; we can Farm one of the Silks, or Mine a Plains Hill that is shared with the 54?

Here's Los Millares:

EXP is giving us 4t Workboats at size4 and is probably the best use of the city until the borders pop for the Clams. Since that is happening in 6t, I think we should send the first WB exploring and use the second for the improvement. This does delay hooking the Clams by 1t, but gives us 4t extra exploration.

Question: do we send this WB to look at the islands to the NW, or down to the SE? NW is closer and less likely to be a link (IMO) so it could circle & return, OTOH to the SE we'll be planting some cities soon and it could be useful there even if there's nothing to explore.

We have time to send 1st WB to NW island, but not enough to explore all its surroundings. But still more than nothing. Let's see what it dicsovers.

In all cases I'd like to see spots we are going to plant chopped, that's why I propose to start our chops from them. Send axe to clear southern woods as soon as possible. Barbs coming to Samarkand will serve as exp for the spear. Continue building only spears. We need a lot to defend our borders and fortunately they dont add much power into graphs.

Building mine in the city with granary is bad move. It steals "food" from it. Only farms and chops is a way to go for now.

Why did you change your mind about growing Bodmin to 5? Warrior from Samarkand can come for happy.

I'd grow Bodmin, put citizen on the lake too. We need commerce to get Metal Casting in time too. Bodmin can grow in 5 with 14/90 for library. Then in continue making library for 4 turns and then finally we can chop those forests. So we get library approximately at T76 and get GS at T94.

I'd finish the farm for cap and share another farm we already have with Samarkand. Making more farms is too long for now. Need to start chopping everything. Maths coming.

I wasn't sure how best to get Bodmin to 5 - we want 54 to have the Corn and LM to have the Sheep until the Clams are online, so it's slow growth for a while anyway. I figured that working the 1f/2h forest into the Library was better than the 2f/3c lake at this point.

I was actually thinking about shuffling the MP units around to get one to Bodmin - I was planning Samarkand's to 54 and 54's to Bodmin because that keeps the C1 Warrior nearer the front if needed.

Roger on the farm at Samarkand; I think that adding a Plains Mine between it and 54 will have value mid-term since it can be shared, but I see that Food is more important right now.
