So if you notice that a health bar suddenly shortens, you know that a stronger unit type is out. This is very useful for timing the first axes/spears, then swords/has, then eles etc.
Well that's a new trick for me, thanks for that!

It can be rather useful - here with the power charts I felt this was likely the first appearance of a skirmisher. It's all about quick tricks that you can glance at from when I used to play. In an always war team game, and you accidentally lose your first scout/warrior before scouting their caps land, if you notice the health bars suddenly change and no one on your team has a higher power unit out you know that the other team has hooked copper/horses and have started chucking out units for a quick rush/choke.

I know I have been poor at updating, we have just hit turn 71 which I have played.
I don't want to spoil my posts but a very interesting development has happened.
I have a spear axe combo coming because I was going to settle the island, but as my solider count is the highest I thought I could risk checking if Jowy had a galley to threaten that island, in a hope to settle the island a turn before I could get a spear/axe combo there, given how close it is to him. So I moved my galley into range and saw the interesting warrior sitting there... With the galley having a settler/axe combo in
This is unbelievably tempting.
I am sure he will whip something into there, but there is the off chance he assumes that the galley literally was just dropping the settler off... I may cause him to whip another defender. But a raze of his third city... But I will be sucked into an almost certain perpetual ancient war vs egypt. My game plan does not follow for this.
I then noticed the QotM which I assume is about this game. Whilst I really don't want a war, we are at open borders. I kind of need that for my grand plan, and don't want to open with Bob who seems to be rather hurting economy wise. I seriously hope this 'God' doesn't notice anything awry and I can drop my axe into there next turn to say hello and make him contemplate how I could have ruined his game. Which to be fair would cause him to ruin my game, but still. If only it was always war not AI diplo...
I'm sure he will, but that quote just amused me. I think I am doing well eco wise for the early phracts here. I am thinking a BC date should be easily achievable. Depends on how wise the others are once they twig what is going on.

About the QotM, it isn't about you. Half the fun in posting a quote like that is how terrible it sounds when taken out of context. Click the green arrow link in the quote below if you'd like the context, it isn't a spoiler thread. You may have to read around that post a bit, but it isn't about Jowy sounding like a megalomaniac, unfortunately.

Oh I didn't take anything personal by it, but I thought it was pretty apt as he is doing rather well in this game (although I do think my GNP will seal this for me soon). I have been rather completementary of him in my thread. He is doing a cracking job at expanding, and has gained a very early nice GS which I assume he would have acadamied.
I also didn't truly appreciate how time consuming reporting was until this - gives me a new level of respect, especially for the blowout reporters like commodore.
You may have saved him from unneeded aggression there however

It wasn't my intent to influence you in this game, by all means bludgeon anyone for any reason at all. I just didn't want you thinking he had insulted you -- that kind of a post wouldn't have been rewarded with a top billing.

No I don't think I would have played any different, but seeing that qotm perhaps would have made me mildly more aggressive to him subconsciously. I am really keen to avoid war until my GE is born!
With the way the land has been laid out and the fact he has made a GS and hopefully therefore an academy in his cap he would always be my first target in an attack anyway; thinking about it with rational thought at least.

C'est aller tres bien, mes amie! Seriously it is going well. Luckily secured myself a source of iron which whilst awkward to hook should be fairly safe, and sort out my copper issue. Actually horses are more a problem. Settling for some second ring this turn, and there are some which I will settle for in about 10 turns also. But looking good for having guilds by turn 105-110 I would say. I have enough gold now for a straight run to machinary, taking 7/8 turns. I just need writing and fued on top of that (which I admittedly will go first) before the bulb comes. I also need a detour to HBR after ofc.
Interestingly everyone has taken different tech paths. Jowy has gone down the happy route with calender which he hit a turn or 2 ago. Cornflakes picked up currency a short while ago (very good play there, he has me and Jowy for routes, whereas I only have him). Retep has gone monarchy, which is nice leveraging the happy with spi for the free civic change, and the fact he can skip CoL for cheap cities. He is actually the most expanded now at 8 cities. I will be 7 next turn on par with Jowy and Bob. Flakes is on 6. Mildly amusing the only chap with currency has the least cities. Bob I think has killed his eco being a bit too aggressive with settling for land against me I think. Certainly no calendar/currency. Perhaps he went for early MC and forges plus Colossus? We shall see.

Will your economy hold without currency or some kind of happiness boost ? You need some expansion to get enough production for phracts.
