Turn 166

We have Astronomy, and dtay attacked Pindicator - anyone know what a WW of 51 means?

The two front cities went this turn, then the shrine will go next turn. Also at the top of the picture you can see Caladan which Dreylin/Cyneheard took back too.

I whipped Galleons in Butterscotch and Englebert, then spent ages agonising over whipping the Galleon in Gertie to speed up the university build. In the end I left it because you just don't whip a size 20 city. Right? We're building and overflowing into a bunch of Triremes to be whipped the turn we get Chemistry for Frigate upgrades. I don't know if that'll be t167 or 168 - we'll have to see.

For Oxford - the Universities in C, F, V, W and Y are all now whippable, B and G will overflow from Galleons and should be a four turn build, which might mean that Alfie has to work a wealth build for a turn to preserve overflow.

It looks like dtay isn't an idiot after all. If we hadn't already put the beakers into the techs I'd vote for heading to Democracy and SoL, but what's done is done, and we might yet snag the wonder with a golden age coming up in 15 turns.

Although as long as Avendale and Ryan remain empty the plan is still going to be worth something. Now that we've forced dtay and BGN to head for Astronomy we really need to get Chemistry too to enable Frigates. Blockading the channel between his mainland and island holdings is almost required.

This looks promising, but they'll need a lot more force to cut dtay off from CH-land. With Steel though it could be doable...

Demos and power. Um, we may be starting a war against someone with 1.5 times our power? smoke

What's The Black Sword doing with all that power?

He's eating Dazed. I dunno if he got the MoM yet, but I presume its only a matter of time. It also looks like Molach took some cities off William, but I doubt he'll get too far against him...

Turn 167

Pindicator is folding... the eight C2 Cav and two Cuirs 2E1N of Strand should make short work of this lot. Why the Choko didn't attack out baffles me though. In other news Krovice are keeping a close eye on what's going on and have just revolted to war civics. Finally dtay is saving cash and won't get Astro straight away, but it shouldn't take him long. Perhaps t170? He doesn't have Chemistry either yet, so we have a short window of naval dominance. If we don't make it count though things could turn nasty...

Krovice have 16 Knights, 7 HA, 9 Wellys, a stack of Cats and two great artists on their border with dtay. I know optimism is a bad thing, but I'm starting to feel just the slightest stirrings of the stuff... Their Galley is watching our southern military build-up, so they know that a dogpile is possible. please

We don't quite have enough cash left to 1-turn Chemistry, and we've got about 10-15 Knights to upgrade for our attack (at 50 gold each), so we're saving cash for a turn and will complete Chemistry eot168. That means we're not going to have Frigates between dtay's landmasses until t172. I put us on 10% research to disguise our max cash rate for anyone without tech visibility. I also re-learnt (smoke) a valuable lesson about when you can upgrade units on boats (only when they are in a city - or perhaps a fort - and have movement points left) but I don't think that will cause us any delays. One small change of plan is that dtay keeps adding units to his coastal cities. So it looks like we can only take one city from Hazelnut, so I won't build the second Galleon there, and will get another Cuir instead. I haven't seen any Caravels in the water yet, but they could yet blow our plan. (I have a feeling that dtay probably knows something is going on already though.)

Gertie borrowed the pig from Daisy to make the University a 4 turn build and to grow in three. Daisy will get near to starving, but just about manage.

Demos and power. Our export/import ratio is looking pretty good now. In fact everything except our soldier numbers is pleasing here. Remind me why we aren't just carrying on with buildering? cry

Back in business, hectic life...

I should be able to log in in the evening, so not early enough for comments reg this turn, but hopefully still early enough to contribute to coming turns.

Based on the last report I'm not quite sure whether you're in hammer or cry mood...?

I'm starting to wonder if we should hold off attacking until we can generate a new great general and get Mil Sci to commando the Jewish Shrine. But I'm sure I'll be in full hammer mode by t170...

How long would that take? If it's a matter of a couple turns, that might be worth it. But action producing a coalition with Krovice would probably be more valuable, so if a delay would jeopardize that, I'd guess it would not be worth it.

The trouble with the GG plan is that we can't generate a new General just on Azza's city and I don't think there is anyone else we can farm for XP, so I'm really just day-dreaming. Perhaps we can surprise Mr tay later in the war. You're right, delay might cause more problems.
