Hey thats good fightin'. It took this long to get HE unlocked? Surprising...
Will you still be in "make him pay" mode if will takes the peace? "Evil empire", lol.

Due to Public relations needs, any empire at war with mine automatically become 'evil'. WilLP has more cities than me as well, so 'Evil empire'
Yeah barbarians dried out fast, my short war with AT gave me little exp, the war against Zanth/Gavagai ended with him vacating my city after I mustered EEEEEEEVERYONE. So yeah, I needed some real fighting to get it done.
I'll take peace with Will if I can. I'd rather like to send two carracks off exploring, see the world, meet new exciting people....and kill them. And my mainland is pretty weak with my army Island-hopping.
EDIT: Logged in (Will has "looked") but it appears he did not take the deal ! Wow. 50 free gold. I'll be. Hm. Oh well.

Give peace a chance.
WilLP rejected my 50 gold, and offered me 1 gold for peace.
Again, I'm puzzled.
Perhaps he thought my offer was a faux-diplo message "don't attack me for 50 turns?"
So by offering 1 gold he is basically saying "Dream on about 50 turns of peace, muahahahaaa. ha."
Well, I just offered what I had at the time. Tribute. Who wants 50 turns of forced peace with a weaker neighbour? Besides these deals can't be binding, just claim you misunderstood it. I don't need to claim anything, I do not understand most of what I'm offered.
Or perhaps he felt threatened by my two carracks, who were in range of his size 14 city on "battle" island. City had 3 units in it, with 4 knights I might have threatened it. I'll let the record reflect that my carracks were empty, though.
My "battle"-island cities will continue building pikes/longbows, I'll put out a few more in 10 turns. My cities will pay for themselves with trade routes, no worry about that. The cost in lost horseflesh and catapult timbers they will not fully recuperate, but on the upside the +boost to my RB reputation made it totally worth it.
I founded a new filler city in the north, it has a crab tile that was going unused. It gave me +3 income right off the bat with trade routes. (At 100% gold, it read +305 before, +308 after founding it)
Gonna spend some peaceful turns sailing the world now, see how big this map is.
And down south, AT has a valuable island, lots of cottaged flood plains, two cities with around 10 pop each....within carrack range...guarded by a single axeman each. If not for these last two wars I'm somewhat sure I'd have taken a shot at naval-surprise attack thing.

I've got a boatload of knights.
Ho-Ho-Ho.
(AT is warring with Yuri to his west, but I've not had time to make preparations for total war vs. him. I can take one of the cities on this isle, but require luck to take both. Not decided yet what to do here. Next turn will probably be the ultra-long christmas turn, so I got some time to think it over)
And a merry yuletid to all!

Lets do a quick overview of the last 50 turns.
A lot of civs have ceased to be.
I have one player below me in score - which probably means I'm next-but-one on someone's kill list.
Thing is, I am surrounded by WillLP and AT now, and they aren't too high up on the scoreboard to really hurt me. Both have also made peace-ouvertures, had a defensive pact with AT. Mabye I have it still? Must check.
I see Old Fine Harrytourist researching computers now while I'm thinking about science and its methods, so the end will come. Question is, at what time will the leaders decide to go for space and stop bullying the small fry?
BGN traded me coal for ...10-15 GPT or so, he had 2-3 surplus sources but thanks. Helps my ironworks, and I've been able to lay railroads across my lands...4 turns more or so and I'll have complete inter-land mobility. At that point I don't have to worry so much about the disposition of my army - just keep all guns and horses in a central, unnassailable inland city and stuff a deterring amount of hot bodies in border cities.
Fun thing: Dreylin offered me 500 gold in trade...probably gift because I didn't pile on when WillLP attacked him. Thanks!
Fun thing is that I was still able to receive the gold after Dreylin was eliminated..his last city was taken earlier in the turn. So gold from the ghost of a player past. Used it to upgrade some knights to cavalry. Should rename them "ghost rider" in the sky or something.
Next turn I'll see if I have oil.

Hey Molach - nice game.
I have to say, I screwed up my attack on you early on - i did it because I kind of felt you were settling into me - your 3rd city was kind of beyond your 2nd ring. That's an ok thing to do, of course, but I saw an opportunity to punish you for it.
Unfortunately, I forgot that your units were just better than mine and, in a straight up fight, I'd lose I should probably have just razed your city - the little war was far too expensive for both of us - a simple raze would have been much less expensive - you might have given peace earlier and we wouldn't have put so many hammers into units instead of expansion....

First, that was December? Wow, this game has been going on a long time!
And fwiw I was just saying "good job, you got the better of me in those skirmishes".
I haven't read your thread yet but I still feel a bit sorry for sniping you off the island in the early game... love and war I guess, right? It could have gone differently with the dice.

AT : Yeah a raze would be better. Loss of city was bad, but you having it was game over, so'had to' put 100% in.
Island was again too weakly defended for such aggressive plant.
I think I need to reconsider my 'Meek while I can but go ballistic ehen provoked' -style of playing if I wanna do better in these things.

Neat, glad my ghost dropped that off on the way out. Mostly it was for the Carrack-loads of seafood you were shipping over after William tore up all the nets ... HRE needed its Sushi!
