Bob either needs to work on his scouting or reading the trade screen, or he's having some fun and wants to watch the world burn. He just screwed someone by giving iron back to Byzantium right after Jowy made a great preemptive strike to disconnect it and prevent phract building. Does REM border Bob? I think Jowy was going to be the target but it would be hilarious if Bob provided the iron that REM needed, only to get himself phracted for his generosity.

I'd do it in Bob's situation, actually, figuring Jowy was REM's clear and present danger/threat.
Still just don't see enough build queues for REM's swarm, particularly given his confusing lack of prebuilding (unless he's using chariots? That works fine then).

Bob has 3 iron, 2 connected. If he gives REM iron I'm going to kill him.
This is Jowy he's done it to though; what are the chances he turns and throws his forces at Bob and lets REM ride over his rear?

This looks like an interesting game that I ought to pay attention to. Which thread is the best place to start?

Jowy's thread has been solid, with the caveats that his mindset is a bit too defensive. REM's been doing good work for his first game, and Bob is funny as ever. Cornflakes is spotty and retep is his usual cipher-self.

The good news for picking this game up so far into it is that the turn pace is slow enough you can take your time catching up.
Lots of good reads, for the reasons Commodore said. Read everything.
And it's hard to criticize Jowy's defensive play. I'm sure he has reads lurker comments about his previous games. Over time various people have killed him about his hair trigger and aggressive to a fault play style. He's showing restraint in this game, that's how I read it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, etc.

Just digging up REM's warplan, but maybe he'll feel he owes Bob with the iron trade and change his plans ?

Well, that sucks. Jowy's easily in the best position to win this right now too.
