How many open spots remain?
Here's an unusual suggestion. I know we're five turns in with plenty of random results and all, but given the prospect of the game imploding completely I don't think any options are really off the table at this point. Given that, how about taking the open civ slots and letting new players sign up and do their own mini snake pick to fill out the rest of the slots? So if there's two civs to pick, go A, B, B, A, and restart the game. If it's three civs go A, B, C, C, B, A, and restart the game. Would any existing players find any kind of disadvantage to yourselves? You would have got both of your picks in before the new players. Assuming new players can be found. Just an idea.
