Just wanted out of the game after it was clear shady and dsp would kill me anyway. The game was rather disappointing - I tackled it from an MP perspective and that was totally wrong. If anything PitBoss MP is totally different than the normal MP I'm used to, and with that map and civ placement my pick was absolutely useless. And I didn't play really well on top of that.
The reason why I didn't answer your mails often was that they simply annoyed me - I didn't want to read lenghty, carefully crafted messages and ponder about what they might mean . Another failure of mine in that game, I'm just not used to diplomacy in MP at all. You played the diplo game much, much better. The game ended for me when the tech alliances formed - in retrospect the game would have had to be with No Tech Trading at all to be enjoyable for me...

Thanks for the comments Imhotep. There were a few lurkers that suggested the same thing about my diplo messages to you.
As for the carefully crafted part, that's not really that accurate - what you got is just how I write. For the most part I did not edit or make drafts of messages. The most I did would be occasionally I would think of things that I would want to say and then write a message that said those things.
Maybe I should have tried a different tack in diplo with you but I don't know that it would have mattered much - had I written short, terse messages would it have made any difference?
I agree that your civ / leader choice just turned out to flop on this map. Had this been the RBP2 map, or if you had started not next to Agg Rome, things might have been a lot different...

Email back from the Lins
Quote:Well, we have less Rifles, less Cannons, are working on our MGs, but do have a nice pile of Cavalry on our side. Our force is gathering in Tortilla.
The tile 2SW of KK is still under our control (though just 51/48), but we have no way of building Railways at the moment....
KK currently is occupied by: 7Rifles, 3Muskets, 2War Elephants.

Was going to post this in the email / IT thread but decided to just stay out of it

dsp declared war on T181 at the start of the turn and razed a city at the very start of the turn.
So if Imhotep had agreed to a turn order, dsp would go first, and Imho 2nd.
So fast forwarding to the previous turn (T186), dsp would have moved in the first half, Imho 2nd half, and then on T187, dsp would have been able to raze the city because Exploit would not have been allowed to move in and gift troops till the 2nd half (maybe not by letter of law but certainly by spirit, at least IMO)

Okay we actually played a turn and everyone ended turn so the turn flipped 2h early!!!
It is now T188 (1280 AD). While in the real world we were stumbling along in the dark ages, in Civ-land, we are building Railroads, learning about Physics and perfecting the Assembly Line. Of course we're also planning on pounding Exploit back to the dark ages
I had a chance to log in very briefly. Communism due in 2t. I founded the city of Fairfax to get corn and sheep. Expenses are at like -335gpt and making about +645 bpt.
Some big news - sunrise found out that you can still upgrade knights to conquistadors, which is nice because Conqs are 2 movers that get defensive bonuses. So I am gifting him my 5 knights and 1 Num Cav, and he will gift me 6 cavs.
Forces still piling up for the attack, which is going to happen on T191. We have enough worker power to railroad all the way to Killing Knife. I may spend some worker turns railroading some in sunrise's lands so all his new MGs can get to the front in game. (His workers are RRing in Lin lands - Lins don't have coal and there aren't any to give him till I hook up my 3rd at Camp Dennison)
Some intre

You know, that didn't make NEARLY enough sense w/o any context when I got the email notification. But I'm with you now!
Doesn't help that I mis-typed - it's supposed to be inter... not intre...
..esting things going on.
And as a bonus, here's this map as a tentative plan of what we're doing - cooked up by Gen. Sunrise
that's an 11tile move though, so I think instead we'll RR the tile SW of "rego stack t190" rather than the tiles S and S-SW.
Basically the idea is to feint at Lin Lost, and then swing all the way around to Killing Knife, where we can arrive next to the city with no warning with a stack of around 100+rifles and supporting cannon, machine guns, conquistadors and cavalry.
Note that the 5-6 tiles that Exploit has visibility on we don't RR until we make the attack on T191.

Sorry if that last pic scrolls - it's sunrise's fault
Email from sunrise to me and Dreylin
Quote:Can I have some of your workers, so I can RR? At least 1 is needed to
keep to the timetable, but the more the better.
Also, do you have any knights left? If so, can I have all of them? I
learned I can upgrade knights, war elephants, and HAs to
Conquistadors, which is very gold-efficient. We can figure out if we
want to do elephant upgrades or HA upgrades in a bit, but I'd like to
upgrade every knight first. I can give you rifles and make it an even
hammer trade.
Your army should be in position with movement points between Tortilla
and Spicy Taco on T191. We've got to assume Explot has spies about, so
I'd prefer units to be in Tortilla for a small amount of misdirection.

The sign says "rego stack 1 south end t190". Nice 10-tile move; I think I'd be surprised if I was on the receiving end of it.

Right - sunrise pointed that out to me and said it was because he couldn't put 2 signs on 1 tile.
We shall see how Exploit reacts. I wonder if he has any inkling of what he's about to get. I know that he's got to expect SOMETHING - just not sure if he's ready for ALL this.
