INTRODUCTION-
You look with intense skepticism at the imposing man at the podium.
You are not quite sure why he has called this assembly in the town
hall, but it is your duty as a respected citizen of Kingsport to
attend anyway.
He begins to speak. “My fellow citizens, I have summoned you all here
today because I have stumbled upon the root cause of these most
distressing events in our fair town. The dreams, the murders, the
uncanny signs...these are all the work of some monstrous horrors that
pass among us in the guise of our fellow citizens. In fact, some few
of our number here today are these very horrors! I am not sure who it
is yet, but I, Dr. Innocence Goodchild, am in fact a seer of some
power as well as town mayor, jailor, and a crack vigilante shot. So do
not fear! While we have the majority, we can easily resist these
horrors and save our fair town, nay, our world, from their dreadful
depredations.”
You stare at the good doctor with caution. An angelic voice within
your head as clear as conscience confirms that Innocence Goodchild is
indeed on the side of Kingsport and the waking world. And yet...
“That was a scummy statement if I've ever heard one. Let's lynch him!”
The voice came from somewhere in the mass of citizens.
“What? How on Earth?” The noble doctor looks pained. “Come now, my
fellows, you know me well, I have performed as a life-saving surgeon
here for years! Look into yourselves, you know me to be an innocent
citizen townsman!”
Another voice, tinged with hostility. “That's just the wine in front
of us talking!”
“What does that even mean?” Alarmed now, Goodchild looks
around. You find yourself drifting closer with everyone else.
“I mean, we all heard that angelic voice of authority confirming his
alignment, but that would be just like our bastard GM.” You nod along
with everyone else.
Your mayor looks sad now. “How could you all be this paranoid?”
“I vote we lynch him!” “Yeah, let's hang him high!” “Death to
Innocence Goodchild!”
You and the rest of the mob all place ballots in the box. In red, most
of you have written Innocence Goodchild. The majority must
rule, and so up from the rafters hangs the doctor. He struggles,
clawing at the noose around his neck, but suddenly a look of peace
comes over his face.
“Cit...izens...I just...received...a...vision.” The doctor gags and
coughs, swinging, but he rallies for one last time. “The
horrors...did...not...vote for me. Check...who...voted...*hrk*”
You watch with interest and satisfaction as he dies. But upon his
death nothing happens. His mortal form remains human. Huh. Dr.
Innocence Goodchild was innocent after all.
You open the ballot box. The votes are all unsigned. That's inconvenient.
“Wait! Didn't the police out of Boston come out here once to consult a
local calligraphy expert? Who was that?”
“Er. I think it was Dr. Goodchild.” You glance up at the dead man
hanging from the ceiling.
“Huh. Well, I definitely think we should make our votes publicly, then...”
After lynching the townsman who made that suggestion (also
human, turns out), you all finally agree to his public vote idea.
Standard RB Werewolf Rules:
Werewolf 36 Notes:
This is a low-role-power, majority-vanilla game. The intent is to avoid a game primarily about role interaction meta, so several notes:
-There are more vanillas (Sleepers in the Bed) than not.
-Roles might be repeated; don't expect you are the only ___ (Role of Roleness).
-Alignment and roles are separated, so scum might have a more village role and vice versa.
-Assignment was done by number before signups occured, so Novice might not be a survivor.
Alignment PMs:
Citizen- You are a fine, upstanding citizen of the fair town of
Kingsport. Maybe. Well, you have a few hiccups from time to time. And
your family tree hides a few slightly knotty branches. And your dreams
have been strange and yet somehow more real of late. But you
definitely are on the side of living, breathing, and your preferred
geometries are strictly Euclidean. Something is up in your town,
something dark and weird, and you are fairly certain those responsible
lurk among you in the town hall. You win when all of the monsters are
dead. And by win, we mean you might be driven to the brink of
gibbering insanity, but you are reasonably certain that once the
monsters are all dead the entire world won't hurtle in the void this
month.
Horror-You are a monstrous horror, absolutely dedicated along with
your fellows to awakening the Great One Who Lurks Beyond The
Threshold. To the blind and grasping citizens of this town, you appear
human and whole in the light of day. In the dark of night, your
howling coven can slay one of the citizens as a gift to Who Lurks
Beyond. You win when you kill all the citizens or you and your fellow
horrors equal them in number. And by win, we mean you can at last
leave this weak and cringing human mask behind and blossom into your
true hideous form as you exult in orgiastic terror seeing Who Lurks
Beyond burst through into this world and consumes it in glorious
annihilation.
You make speak with your fellow horrors day and night in the following QT:

Standard RB Werewolf Rules:
- Days are 48 hours long. Nights are 24 hours long.
- Days and nights end at 1400 CST / 2000 UTC. The forum clock is used as the official clock. Votes and actions posted at xx:59 count, votes and actions posted at xx:00 do not.
- Posting is not allowed after the day and night deadlines until the GM has posted a phase resolution.
- In the event of extended forum downtime or downtime that occurs in close proximity of the deadline or some other event that disrupts the game, the day may be extended 24 hours at the GM's discretion.
- During the day each player may cast one vote for someone to be lynched. Players may also vote for "no lynch" and if "no lynch" receives a plurality there won't be a lynch.
- Votes must be posted in red text or they will not count. Votes with spelling errors of names do count so long as it's unambiguous in the GM's opinion whom is being voted for. Votes embedded in quotes do not count.
- The player with most lynch votes at the end of the day is lynched and eliminated from the game. Normally, in the event that two or more players are tied for the most votes, the tied player that reached their current vote total first is lynched. (A gets to 4 votes first, B gets to 4 votes later in the day, A is lynched).
- Night actions have been preassigned a priority order.
- Anyone failing to vote for 2 consecutive game days or 3 days total will be mod killed and removed from the game with a loss.
- Dead players may make one posthumous post that doesn't contribute to discussion.
- Forum profile camping is not allowed.
- To prevent confusion that may arise in the case of cross posting, posts may not be edited for any reason.
- Players may not communicate with other players about the game outside the thread via PM, email, chat, quicktopics etc. unless told otherwise.
- Players must check their PMs and make sure they're alive each game day before posting.
- If all players are simultaneously eliminated, or the game reaches a stalemate situation, the game is a draw.
- The main scum faction (Horrors in this game) will win in a tie situation (like 3 scum 3 villager).
- Directly quoting role PMs or other communication from the GM isn't allowed unless otherwise specified.
- Breaking rules will result in penalties ranging from warnings to loss of abilities to being mod killed, depending on the severity of the infraction and the GM's discretion.
