Thoughts onothers:
Ruff is going to play a typical Japan game here I think - everything in the planning thread would suggest this - expect him to be a pain in the arse! Don't really want to have to deal with him early on. A bit of distance would be much appreciated! Fortunatley - Longbows with +lots xp from totem pole and barracks will negate samurais.
Dreylin, I hope, will want to war with Ruff! They have been chums over in RBPEM 1. I expect he will push settlers (IMP) and make a charge for the religons... Perhaps - seeing is he has a head start on the religon side of things, he may push oracle - metal casting for colosus and triremes - one of the IND civs may be planning this though... I know I was before 2 Ind civs pitched up! Early triremes and GE points from a forge can help a lot on this map! Obviously the cataphract is nails.
Yaz - Not sure here... Immortal is ok - a stack of them might be a pain, but with all the promo's i'm hoping to accumulate on defenders, i'm not too worried!
Krill - I expect a quiet-ish start but a real headache down the line... The musketeer could be a pain as it adds options and comes when my Longbows are becoming out-dated.
Darrell - No the best early traits but could be more powerful later on. Could potentially ally or attack here... hmm...
So much to wait for before making decisions!
My initial plan was to take the ocacle to Metal Casting, whipping a forge and then GE the pyramids for REP to lever my PHI trait, all the while using crazy archers and dog soldiers for defence... 2 Ind civs are going to make that difficult. I'm currently trying to come up with a plan B. Time is on my side with a PBEM though!

Not the best image size... I'll do better next time!
So Lords founded on the spot. It has double clam, pigs and a sugar resource.
NO FRESH WATER!
Having said that, we have two health and lots of forests. There are 3! junk ocean tiles but, TBH, these won't ever be worked. Sitting Bull is PHI, and so with all that food available specialists will be hired.
More to follow once I've had a run down of all the other players.

Another post...
I've been thinking about getting Metal Casting via bulbing. All i'd need is currency and then the run two specialists for not too long...
Bulb list:
Great Merchant:
Currency
Banking
Economics
Corporation
Metal Casting
Code of Laws
Mining
Constitution
The Wheel
Alphabet (BTS)
etc...
I like this idea because it enable triremes and the forge for GE points for the pyramids.
The one drawback that I am always concious of is that I'm still playing SP!!! I'll get over it in time!

4th post in a row - bouncing around in here all by myself...
Ok - so we decided on communications all the time so Darrell has dropped me an email:
Darrelljs Wrote:All high the wise and powerful leader of The Native Americans. As a representative of the non-native Americans, I want to assure you that any history we might have together is not reflective of what I'd like to see in this game :-).
I'm sending out notes to certain leaders in the game. I feel as an MP noob I need to start early on finding strong partners to work with. I know we haven't met in game, nor will we for a while, but I at least want to get an idea on where your head is at now. If we can lay the groundwork for some kind of cooperation (I'm game for anything from a round of tech trading all the way up to a full alliance) now, if and when game circumstances favor the formal acceptance of an agreement we'll be able to execute quickly.
While in general I don't mind if you talk about thsi with other leaders, since I'm not sending a note to everyone (just yet at least), pleas ask me first so that I can afford an early awkward diplomatic situation :-).
Darrell
That's nice isn't it? I replied with:
Square Leg Wrote:Hi Darrell,
Sitting Bull would like to offer you a peace pipe as soon as we meet in game and would like to confirm that any history we have is deleted and ready to be re-written!
I feel quite honoured to have been selected for a message! I am too a noob to MP. I would welcome any form of co-operation we can work out - to be honest - I made a list of everyone in my spoilers thread and against your name I have: "Darrell - No the best early traits but could be more powerful later on. Could potentially ally here"
How about we see what happens in the game and perhaps negotiate some sort of initial tech trade once we know where we are going? I have a plan (obviously I'm not letting on yet! ) but perhaps we could work something out so we don't end up duplicating too much?
I trust you are happy with your start?
All the best,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
PS: I don't think I'll be discussing our emails with others. There doesn't seem to be anything to gain.
I am going to persue an honesty is the best policy with this game. No mind tricks or anything. I like the fact that he has contacted me and so I hope that our nations can work together.
I only slightly edited what I said in my earlier post about his nation! Perhaps something will work down the line but for now - there isn't really a great deal to discuss. I hope we can work together to make contact in game more easily - describing nearby features etc...

...ahem - all I can do is thank the map maker for a better resource!
More correspondence:
Darrelljs Wrote:Initial tech trading sounds good. It has not escaped my attention that you have bar none the worst trait in the game, but you have a nice economic trait to go with it. Once I hear back from the others I've contacted, I plan on forming an early block (or at least trying to), and frankly I want you in it. TBH I haven't figured out the best way to organize this thing yet, I'm just laying some early ground work now.
Darrell
and my reply:
Square Leg Wrote:Hi Darrell,
Well, once we meet in game we can certainly line something up. I'd definitly be interested in forming a solid ally.
Glad to hear that you think the Native Americans have something to offer you and I hope that our actions in the game will only go on the cement this co-operation down the years.
Good luck in the game and feel free to drop me an email whenever you like.
SL
By the way - I have no idea why, but I often type "the" instead of "to"
I am hoping to work well with America and would actually like to be close to them on the map. This will mean we can protect one another waters, so to speak...
I also received an email from Persia:
Yaz Wrote:Hey,
Diplomacy has already kicked off so figure I better get in the game as well. I wanted to see if you'd be interested in the same deal somebody else proposed to me earlier, 20t NAP basically so there's no rushing into somebody's unprotected capitol or steals your first worker. Also no settling too close to the other person's capitol. Pretty basic but helps keep the early paranoia down I guess. Let me know what you think. I signed on when it was proposed to me but it's bit of a gamble still if others aren't asked
Best Regards,
Persia
and my reply:
Square Leg Wrote:Hey,
Yeah - I must admit, I forgot we could contact one another pre meeting in game!
We found you message floating in a coconut. The Native Americans would like to offer you a peace pipe and a fish as a gift of acceptance to your proposal of a 20t NAP in the first instance however, if you would be willing, we would like to be so bold as to suggest a slight amendment? The NAP shall commence from when we meet in game?
I hope this will be acceptable to the great Persian nation and we hope we can work together down the line. Perhaps once the game gets a few turns in we can discuss some potential tech trades to avoid duplication of resources?
All the best,
Sitting Bull aka SL
Another nation hey? I reckon it will have been Darrell but i'm not going ot speculate. Doesn't really matter. Again - I wouldn't mind be friendly with Persia - lets see how the game goes. I see the biggest threats coming from Krill, Ruff and Dreylin so maybe sticking together with the other 2 will help...

I'd just like to post something for the lurkers really:
I have seen various comments in the Pitboss threads regarding how much advice and help has been given out by lurkers. I would like to state here how I would like lurkers to behave in my thread.
By all means please come along and lurk my thread! I am planning on posting turn by turn updates, hopefully with a picture per update, so there will be plenty to see. I will, undoubtedly ask for help at times - game mechanics etc... Please help me out in these situations!
However, please be careful not to ask leading questions or try to point out potential mistakes.
For example, if I am at war and you think I should move my stack ina particular way, don't suggest it, wait until I have moved my way first and then say - "I'd have done this"
That way I will learn from my mistakes and become a better player whilst not leaving the playing up to you guys!
Anyhoo, response from Yaz:
Yaz Wrote:Hi,
Your change to the deal sounds good and probably makes more sense, so on that note Persia accepts
We're certainly open to the idea of trading techs later.
Thank you for the fish, we'll be sure to send out a nice carpet as soon as we find your address.
Cheers,
Persia
