Thoughts and details to follow. But please, if you are a player from a different thread, please stay away until we have conquered your nation, mmmkay? lol

Okay so now it's time to figure out firewall issues. I think? I have my firewall set up properly. Well, it was good enough to connect to the game, after a half hour of trying. Thank goodness time is not yet of the essence. I now understand why the e-mail/tech issues thread is so important. Anyway, testing screenshots:

... Kind of exciting to see that splash screen for my first ever MP game. And the starting screen shot:

What do you think?

By the way, Shoot the Moon: I set up a photobucket account with username TeamNiceShot, same password as our game and e-mail password.

Regarding the starting location... do we move 2S and settle on the plains hill? Benefits:
*4 hammers/turn right away should give us the opportunity for fastest worker right out of the gate
*Hilltop capital is easier to defend

On the other hand, the silver in the capital is attractive. BUT that silver is covered by jungle (thanks Sullla!) so it could make a great resource for a future city.

I'm pretty convinced that the plains hill is the place to settle. Where do I move the warrior? If it was SP, I would go NE to make sure that I am not missing anything by settling south. Is that a wise move? I look forward to input.

Worker plan/city plan:

Lakewood: Warren, after finishing that cottage for the capital, moves 1N and chops that forest. That chop will come in on t71, and give us 31 hammers overflow. I think we should also single-pop whip that turn, to let us overflow 60 hammers into another worker, which would complete on t73. We should lose only 1 hammer to the overflow bug (*Remind me to check that we won't be losing more hammers that turn*), which seems worth it to me for getting that worker out a turn sooner than waiting to put the whip into that second worker on t73.

The first worker to be produced by lakewood should road the rice. The second therefore should be able to move to pasture the sheep at St. Paul in 2t (I believe). Make sure on t73 to finish the road before moving the second worker.

Boring: Obviously, the two workers move East and farm. On t68, I have Bill moving onto the forest-hill to chop it. On t69 (camps take 5 worker-turns, right?) Lawrence moves onto the marble and roads (roading towards the copper so that when the borders pop, we can immediately hook it up.) On t71, Bill's chop comes in, at which point we 2-pop whip the library. This gives us a 25 hammer overflow, which we can apply to a chariot.

Moved NE. Revealed a small three tile lake. Lots of hills in the area, plenty of forests too. I don't see any reason not to settle 2S at this point. We could still use the silver on the red dot if there turns out to be some food there. Any objections to settler going 2S?

I will take any suggestions for city/unit naming conventions.

The good news is at least two other teams (Kyan and Morgan) have ended turn without planting their capitals. I would have felt silly moving if we were the only ones.

By the way, paint in Windows 7 is pretty cool... I can already see it will be fun to use it for this game. And another random note... I've followed all of the other RB MP games very closely. It's become habit to click right into the Lurker thread first thing. That's going to have to stop very quickly, I almost found myself accidentally viewing the RBP3 lurker thread... uh oh! banghead

2S looks like the right move to me. At this point, the sheep is the only food resource we have, so I don't feel comfortable moving away from it (as the red dot would).

Good news.. the capital has great production and commerce potential, and lots of forests for early chopping. Bad news... that sheep is the only food resource, so it will be a slow growing city.

That previous red dot could make a good 2nd/3rd/4th/10th city if there is food near it. If there is food anywhere else in the map. Hmm, we start with fishing/mining? Yikes! /krill

Really, though, I'm very excited in spite of the lack of food at the capital.

6 riverside grasslands isn't bad for a capital wink I'd say move the warrior SE next turn and then settle in place.

I think the obvious choice for tech is BW while building an Expansive boosted worker, wouldn't you?

Exactly what I was thinking. BW-Agriculture more or less, depending on what is out there in the fog? What scares me is that we could be stuck with our only food resources (please resources and not resource) requiring AH, and then we would be stuck for an eternity without any improved food tiles.

Much will be revealed next turn.

Having our only food resource be AH scares me too, but I don't see us as having much of a choice at this point. I'm going to feel really stupid if there winds up being another one at the capital site though duh

By the way, is anyone lurking this thread? I suspect with 17 teams the lurkers might be somewhat divided, and am curious if anyone is.
