By the way, I say fourth but it could easily be 5th or 6th. Normally, "only food being 2nd ring fish" would be a pure backfill city, but here the only reasons it is acceptable to settle that spot early are: a.) I'm gonna want that silver early, b.) working first-ring silver while waiting for a border pop isn't terrible, and c.) the capital can easily supply the workboat.

Well well well, what do we have here but Donovan and my old pal AdrienIer. Will we see another warrior rush from these guys this game? ![]() ![]() Found a marble up northwest after I moved my scout, and found a stone just across the bay from my capital: ![]() Alas, Industrious... at least I can get a Moai rolling early this game, maybe try for the HG or something. Decided to go with Mardi Gras Indians naming theme on account of those folks being cool as fuck and, like, it totally fits in with the Zulu. I mean, hell, look at the Impi, he's practically a Mardi Gras Indian already! ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQhbz5ZSS7Y Grabbin my names from here, will probably mix in some other stuff as there's only so many names that will fit in a Civ4 city name box... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mardi_Gras_Indians

Hmmm, we're next to Elkad too... my impression of this guy from the PB24 and PB25 setup threads, as well as his picks both games, is that he has no idea what he's doing... gonna switch my EP to him. ![]() And there's my third forge resource. ![]() ![]() Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

![]() Finally, something to do! I found Donovan... I think I'll try to get capital-vision on him next turn, before circling back towards my start to evaluate the land between us. ![]()

This game is still happening, and we're still scouting, and that's still boring. ![]() I found Elkad's borders; I wardecced to get capital-sight, moving 1SE into his borders on T13, and sent him a cease fire immediately: ![]() Next turn, I found that my scout popped out the other side, as I had hoped. ![]() ![]() I get graphs on the Dutch next turn, so we'll try to figure out what he's been up to then. Our worker pastured a pig; before the pasture was done, I put a turn into a settler. We grow to size 2 in the same number of turns but now get our settler a bit faster. At size 2, we'll start on the settler for real! ![]()

Hmmmm! Nice spot there right where the scout is standing! Perhaps third city on the scout, second city 1NE of the sheep, instead of 1E, so that it can share the ivory 2nd ring and eventually get that jungle rice? I'm liking this land. I totally forgot that I had Elkad's graphs this turn! Gonna log back in and get those... ![]()
Looks like Elkad went Hunting -> Mining as his first two techs, based on the power chart. Why improve the sheep as your first food, do I have a 6 yield tile but he does not? That's kinda unfair... in that case, I also wonder why he didn't start with a Hunting/Mining civ.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() forget that sheep spot, clear the table - maybe I should just settle for wherever I can find copper for my 2nd city...? Elkad ain't gettin copper hooked till T39 at the earliest, and that's only if its adjacent to his capital and he's got a worker ready on the spot... |
