RBP3 [SPOILERS] Hannibal of Byzantium (Bobchillingworth, ManiaMuse & SleepingMoogle)

Okay, I logged in and ended our turn.

Some interesting demo numbers; most teams haven't settled yet, and already someone is working a 3-food tile, someone has 2 more commerce than us, and someone has 2 more production than us. I'm guessing that maybe the extra production is an expansive player working a plains hill and building a worker or something, but who knows. The extra commerce hopefully is just the creative trait. The food is either because someone moved a square and got their rice equivalent, or they had theirs closer to them.

Our border expansion will reveal a nice amount of tiles to our NW, as well as the desert tile we currently don't have visibility on yet. Moving our Warrior onto one of those grassland hills to our south seems to be the better option here, since that covers both directions that seem the most interesting to expand into right now.

As long as he doesn't stray too far I'm happy witht the warrior going south.

Agreed. Getting onto those hills should provide a good view of the land to our south, no need to go further than that for now. We could start circling the capital after that.

Edit: nm, Exploit has picked up his civ and played. So far 5 teams have decided to end their turns without settling. Kalin still hasn't ended turn or settled as well.

Okay, please move south at your discretion if you haven't done so already.

Well we're still waiting on 4 teams to end turn for the turn to roll over. Hopefully the next 10 turns or so will go pretty quickly as no one will have much to do apart from a single warrior/scout move.

Think we're agree SW then SE onto the hill (then maybe W onto the other hill for good measure).

The tiles directly south of those hills all look to be grassland. If there's a food resource or two down there, it could potentially make for a nice commerce city. Anyway, in light of earth-shaking decisions, should we send the warrior clockwise or counterclockwise around the city afterwards? smile

I think anticlockwise if we want to step onto that other hill to the S as well. After that I think we want to explore where the river heads to in the NW and S. With 2 desert tiles to the W and one to the NE the rivers may lead to floodplains which would be nice being financial.

Tech path ag -> ah I think we're fairly agreed out. Then unless anything comes up mining -> BW to help out with chopping out workers and settlers. Personally, although we want to get cottages out pretty soon it might be safer putting hunting and archery in before pottery. We don't have uber food resources so might be good to work the grass hills when mined at size 4 or 5 to get workers and settlers out reasonably quickly.

What do you guys think? Suppose we could go hunting (after BW so we will be able to counter a chariot rush as long as we have a copper city) -> pottery -> archery.

Any thoughts? Maybe I'm just being paranoid already, I really don't want to get wiped off the map straight away!

Yeah I say counter-clockwise. I think whether we go for archery or not depends on whether we have horses and/or bronze- if we can get either by the time we could realistically have a few archers out, then we should skip archery, possibly for fairly long time since I think we can get by with a chariot / spear / axe defense just fine. If we have no strategic resources in close proximity visible after BW then we will probably want to go for archery- but it's a 2-tech diversion, with no hunting resources and only defensive potential (and we've probably already lost if we're turtling with archers anyway).
