Took a few more of Furungy's cities, he's only got 2 left.
Brief domestic overview:
The mainland, now working every land tile that I have the food for:
Eastern island:
Western island:
Northern island (former Chinese):
Building lots of Wealth to get to Assembly Line asap, going to start a Golden Age in 4 turns. Draft a round of infantry then swap to Representation, Bureaucracy and Free Religion. I will keep these civic until the end of the game with the exception of Bureaucracy: I'm still debating between Vassalage and Nationhood. During the GA, factories and coal plants will go up everywhere.
Demos:
A tech comparison because why not? (Furungy omitted because he doesn't matter enough and he doesn't fit into the screenshot)
I will be used as the reference point when I'm talking about whether someone's up or down a certain tech.

Tough question, I would say that Gavagai is probably favourite to win now since Donovan seemingly put up zero resistance against Gavagai. He's going to have a huge continent to himself very soon.
Currently I think it's me and Joey ties for 2nd place but his prospects are probably better than mine since he could absorb REM's land very soon.

I feel a few players in this game has gotten pretty lucky when it comes to neighbours/map. If I have an opportunity, I want to take them down a notch. Just need a huge army first...
Furungy started pillaging his own tiles instead of defending his capital, Joey will now get the city for free.
Very frustrating, since Furungy probably could have held the city since Joey brought so few units and I would have swooped in and taken the city once my units healed.
Started the Golden Age, building a bunch of factories. Nothing else important happening.
Signed peace with Furungy, I have no plans to fight him anymore, so would be nice to get out of this turn split.
First factory was completed this turn and more are completing:
GermanJoey was teching Physics 2 turns ago but weirdly changed it to Steam Power. Now he might not get the Physics Scientist that's still up for grabs. Both Dtay and Gavagai completed Scientific Method this turn going for Communism and Physics first to bonuses respectively. I'm starting to tech SM this turn, thanks for the known tech bonus guys!
- I border both Gavagai and GermanJoey, two of the most aggressive players at this site. War between us is inevitable, one guy will attack another and the other will pile on. I suspect Gavagai is already planning something: he's now teching Military Tradition for cavalries. Luckily for me, I don't see Gavagai building any galleons.
- I currently have the lowest power among the 7 surviving civs (I didn't count the Living Deads). This is fine for now, neither Gavagai nor GermanJoey have enough troops on my border.
- I will swap to Vassalage at the end of my golden age, the cost saving is almost equivalent to the no civic cost of Nationhood. I don't plan on drafting: not enough food. The exp will valuable. I will also try to build the Pentagon.
- I seriously considered teching Fascism for Police State, but ultimately decided against it. The 25% bonus to military units only translate to a 12.5% bonus once a forge, a factory and a coal plant is built within a city. I do feel that I need the Rep beakers to help me tech. On top of that, there are other tech priorities...
- SM is in and teching Physics for airships, then it's Railroad->Combustion->Artillery for destroyers. Should be done in less than 20 turns. My oil appeared at an awkward spot, it's the city that I planned to build the Pentagon in, building a Well over an workshop will lose me 2 base hammers. I got other sources else where, but they are not as safe.
- Industrialization is still in progress. Health is becoming a serious problem. Luckily Plako offered me wines for my silver that I recently conquered from Furungy. Now that I have all 4 Grocer health resources(3 traded and 1 conquered from Dtay), I will build a few for the health.
- Plako is starting to invest EP into me. Looking at the EP graph, I suspect he's starting to build some Jails. I'm putting a lot of my EP against him so he doesn't steal techs or anything like that from me. He's known to do that in the past IIRC.
- I have too many cities so I'm running out of names for my new cities. Had to settled a filler city named "Ulundi" this turn.
Started to settle some filler cities. These cities makes me 17 commerce a turn, cost around 10 gold per turn in maintenance. I just need to work a workshop/mine to build a courthouse then build wealth. Pure profit after around 10 turns. This is what I plan to do to make use of the land that I conquered:
Golden age is over, industrialization progress after 8 turns:

Not sure what I'm supposed to do from now on. Long term, I won't have enough land to compete with Gavagai, and there's no easy/safe way for me to get more land.
