Druid of the flame was largely ignored but it's proving to be a pretty good card, the 2/5 form is a good anti-rush and token cleanup card, and the 5/2 trades surprisingly well in the late game.

Anti-aggro ramp druid list:

So I see that Hearthstone is available on Android Phones now, so I might give it a whirl.

Is this game still worth playing if I'm not up for spending any money on card packs? If it's fun than whee but I don't wanna empty out my wallet to play either.

I'm not sure, you'll be at a significant disadvantage until you get a lot of cards unlocked which could take a year or so of playing every day. The cards you start with are simple to use but usually lack the basic stats to compete with better cards or don't have the additional effects the better and rarer cards have. Personally I don't think I could get into Hearthstone if I started now since there are days where you can't win a game because you're stuck playing against people with full or mostly full card collections which cannot be matched by a new player.

This game really needs some way to separate new players from experienced ones, I think if you want to play you should get into playing Arena mode which is about luck and skill rather than how complete your card collection is.

I've got all the cards I need without paying. That said, I started playing in closed beta in 2013, so I've had a lot of time to earn cards. It might be tough to start playing Heartstone as F2P when you start behind the curve.

How well is Emperor working in this deck? I feel like this deck would be running low on cards fairly regularly and reducing the card's benefit.

Honestly, if you start playing now, I'm not sure you'll ever have an adequate collection for Constructed without spending money. In a year's time, there are likely to be 2-3 more expansions, and you'll still be behind. I think the only option for F2P is Arena. Many people prefer Arena to Constructed anyway, so if you like that playstyle, it's not a problem. Your starting quests should give you enough gold to fund several Arena runs, and your winnings plus daily quests will keep you going.

True to a certain extent, however you'll have to disenchant most of the cards you unlock to make one good deck that fast. If you're ok with playing one or two particular *cheap* decks all the time then you could do that.

There are plenty of bad cards, disenchanting only the bad cards is enough. And, yes, early F2P is all about focusing on one or two or three decks.

I seldom run out of cards with that druid deck because of the high mana curve. I am happy with the performance of Emp so far, because he makes it significantly easier to play two cards in one turn to take/keep the initiative, and is excellent removal/silence bait. He also ramps out 8 drops which is particularly nice when they used their removal on Emp.

I built my collection without spending by being good at Arena mode too, but if I was starting now and wanted to play Constructed sooner rather than later I'd consider buying the adventures (not card packs) since you get some guaranteed quality cards.
