[spoilers] Going Dutch: The Commodore Files

Is that image from Homeworld: Cataclysm? I never played the game, but it looks like that style.

Yeah that'd be the Beast.

I'm sorry it's been such a drought here in Dutchland, report-wise, but we've not had much news locally. Dtay got burned a bit and peaced, Plako burned a city then peaced, and now both might dogpile soon but at least we're a turn off of Steel. The real news of the game, the really interesting stuff, is Gavagai's inevitable victory being disrupted by a massive dogpile from Gawdzak and GermanJoey. It's not a death knell for the English, but he will be dropped back into the pack now.

Plako with his artillery, now, might be the death knell for us.

As an aside, it has at least been an eventful few turns!

Should not have taken the academy, I doubt I'll be researching ever again.

I feel like events are on some kind of new "high frequency" mode in this game...

Well, I've been wrong before, but I really truly believe this is the end. Looking for opportunities to cost Dtay and Plako (oh, trust me, Plako is piling on), might evacuate to a final citadel. But this Dtay punch I could only barely stop, depending on the rolls...those cannon and machine guns are hard to collateral around with catapults.

It's been fun, kids. I'll let you know when I can score some heavy hits, but this is probably the end of the Dutch.

Kind of glad, actually...curious to see how the 3G race goes, and if Plako/Dtay can get back in it with my lands.

Wow, that world map in the military adviser is pretty revealing for those big 3. Anyway, it's been a fun ride. Give them your best parting shot!

Man, I am really looking forward to reading those three threads. More interestingness has happened; Gavagai peaced out with both his dogpilers, but not before losing his moai city, his capital, and half a dozen other nice core cities. I think he's fairly back in the pack, so now while he can't pile on Joey and Gawdzak might try to settle things, or it might quiet down to another footrace...Gavagai won't take it personally.

That's the plan! Might be able to kick Plako out of at least one city; our eastern fleet got caught out of position so here goes nothing.

Man those machine guns suck to chew through.

Revengence! Formosa here burns candle bright and Plako knows fear, I am sure. It's not much, but it is better than nothing at all.

FYI: Rifles hate attacking into infantry and machine guns. Ow.

I'm not sure how much more damage we can actually realistically do. There is a huge cost to conquer Dutchland, but Plako and Dtay paid it up front in the last twenty turns, mobilizing a staggering number of infantry, machine guns, cannon, artillery, and modern warships. Not a ton we can do against that, just force them to be slow and bleed any advance cavalry forces to keep the doomstacks stacked. Alas, dear empire, you deserved better.

Survival works right up until it doesn't.

I think the event RNG is just mocking me at this point, by the way. Yes, that is another uber unit-buffing event. No, it won't make a lick of difference.

'tis better to roll easy neighbors than all the great events in the world. YOU CANNOT DISPUTE THIS.

I have never seen that cannon promotion event before. Definitely an awesome event, too bad it won't do you much good. So, I know that being wedged between Plako and Dtay didn't do much for your odds. Do you think geography played a role in the outcome beyond who your neighbors were? If you 3 were neighbors somewhere on the western continent, do you think things would have played out any differently?
