The Prejudice Post
I've collected my thoughts/worries/irrational fears into one easy post so that we can then go back and laugh at me and lurkers/other players can beat me over the head with my stupidity when the game is over
I'm going to say right off the bat that in-game actions are 100x more important to me than these small pre-conceptions. I'd compare them to starting attitude in Master of Orion although less extreme than that.
Anyway, part of the point is to put these in writing to act as a counter-balance in my own head. I'll initially be handling the diplomacy so D+I, your thoughts on what you'd add/change would be much appreciated.
1) Prejudice: None, Skill: N/A
*Sandover + scooter
*SleepingMoogle + Bobchillingsworth + ManiaMuse
*Cyneheard + haphazard1 + antisocialmunky
*Lobo.Thibron
*Mr. Nice Guy + Shoot the Moon
*Sockboy + ad hoc + WarriorKnight + Pegasus
*Morgan
I don't know much about these teams - I'll go into dealings with them with zero preconceptions
2) Prejudice: Strong +ve Skill: Very High
*Krill
He's straight-forward and easy to deal with, in the sense that you know where you stand with him. he makes rational decisions based on self-interest so if you're able to offer something of value in return, he can make a strong ally. Or a dangerous enemy - but at least it's easy to know which.
3) Prejudice: Strong +ve Skill: High
*Cull + RefSteel + Maniac Marshall
I don't know Cull but MM + Ref are MASTERFUL strategists. They are not Civ players which is why i've only rated them "highly" skilled. Also i believe Cull is the main man and i don't know how much influence the other 2 will have. they like variant play + might not chase victory as hard as other teams as long as they have fun. Ref + maniac are honourable players and would make steadfast allies - if conditions are right.
4) Prejudice: Neutral Skill: High
*Broker33 + dsplaisted + Swiss Pauli
*Exploit
Strong players, who made good civ choices and will be threats to win. Not sure what to make of them from a diplomatic perspective, that will come with the game, but i have a healthy amount of respect for their civ skills.
5) Prejudice: Neutral Skill: Above Average
*Ruff_Hi
Not much to add - solid player. a bit worried he'll buddy up to other veteran RBers but no evidence, just an irrational fear for now.
6) Prejudice: Neutral Skill: Average
*Dantski + Mukha
I'm going off a very limited sample size (RBP2) but i don't think Dantski has played particularly well up to now. Won't add more to avoid spoilers, but there can be many reasons for his "meh" play so I won't read too much into it.
7) Prejudice: Slight -ve Skill: Above Average
*Kyan + Twinkletoes89 + Whosit
*athlete4life10 + Jowy + Kalin + Nakor
It's fair to say i'll be a bit wary in my initial dealings with these 2 teams based on what i've seen on RBP2. whosit is a skilled players, no doubt - but is a bit erratic in his decision-making. i'll need to see evidence to convince me that was just a one-off. i don't know kyan or twinkletoes but there's a strong chance that with 3 people running the team, knee-jerk impulsive reactions will be rare. let's see how diplo goes with them.
AK/Jowy. Honestly it's mostly jowy here. he's hilarious but not someone i trust much (i know D+I agree). his diplo doesn't match his actions. i found some of the diplo in RBP2 - not referring specifically to jowy now - somewhat distasteful. it could really go either way with this team but i'll be a bit wary to begin with. i know it's a thin argument but it's hard to explain myself without spoilers
8) Prejudice: Strong -ve Skill: Very High
*darrelljs + regoarrarr + sunrise089 + sooooo
yeah, here i can use all the spoilers i want. i'm hoping RBP2 has taught them a lesson, but it might just spur them to make sure their next ultra, ultra-aggressive settlement is better defended. i don't care for regoarrarr's diplomacy style, not saying it's not effective, just that it doesn't jive with the more straightforward approach i like to adopt. i think sooooo won't take us seriously, i have my reasons for believing it and will leave it at that

add to this the fact this is undeniably a very skilled team - i have a great amount of respect for their civ play - and you have a very dangerous opponent. hehe i've just re-read the above and yeah, it does seem like "strong -ve" is appropriate. while past events are a good indicator of future behaviour, i'll again point out that the way they'll act in the game is 100x more important to me than how they've acted in the past.
9) Prejudice: So +ve i want to have their babies Skill:

*Dazedroyalty + Ilios + Meatbalz
i know, i know, there's already been some serious

posted in our thread, mostly by me, but that's just to lull people into a false sense of security. we fly like a butterfly, bite like an angry leprechaun. can the plucky MP noobs pull off the upset? the only thing that's certain is the RBP3 "best legs" award sitting on DIM's mantlepiece
