Continuing on tech - email to Dreylin
Quote:Some good work yesterday! I was wondering what your research capabilities are. I assume that you are funding Broker, at least in part, but I wasn't sure at what level and so didn't know if you had any ability to research above and beyond that.
If you are able to, I was thinking it might make sense for you to slow-research towards Military Science. It is true that Grenadiers are already obsolete and Ships of the Line soon will be, but with more and more GGs getting born (2 for you last turn!) the ability to do a Military Academy could be useful.

How big a dent have you put in Exploit's army now? Did you just annoy the giant or cripple it?
I have to run.

Stay tuned here a bit for more exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure we crippled it.

Email from sunrise
Quote:1) Healthy stack moves 1N next to EE
2) Cats, my rifles, 3 MG, and other healthy units in the wounded stack move 1NE
3) Wounded units, 3 MGs, medic unit all heal in place
4) Unwounded mounted units catch up to the EE stack (wounded mounted
will catch up to LL stack)
5) EE and LL should fall before Infantry come into serious play
6) After EE and LL die we can discuss hitting DD and PP. If we do we
will want to send reinforcements via RR to the empty culture where EE
and LL were. I have 4 workers in the healthy stack to assist, and have
asked regoarrarr to keep at least 2 fast workers as well in case we
need to RR and hill or forest.

Okay so you remember Communism? That Great Spy? Okay so it took me a few turns longer than I'd have liked, due to the vagaries of railroad movement and Great Spy lack of road using promotions, but I was finally able to infiltrate.
I had time just for a quick glancethrough and sent off this email to sunrise/dreylin
Quote:Okay so I used the Great Spy to infiltrate Exploit, which a) has taken away his ability to see my cities and b) given me city visibility on just about all his cities (haven't checked all of them so maybe it is all of them)
Almost all his cities are building research. He'll have Assembly Line next turn.
City stacks:
Pirates Pad: 2 rifles, 1 cat, Cannon in 1.
Lin Lost: 3 rifles, Cannon in 3.
Evil Eye: 2 rifles
Demon Dirt: 2 rifles, 1 xbow
Fatuous Flab: 2 rifles and a galleon.
Intricate Ivy: 1 rifle
Garden Genius: 1 xbow
Zulu front:
Western Nexus: Rifle, 2 muskets, 2 cavs, chariot, archer and Cav in 2.
Iron Fish: empty!
Zulu checkpoint: 2 rifles
Regosass: 1 impi
Shaft Rego: empty, rifle in 12.
Rego Demise: empty
Dreylin if you could get a galleon full or rifles, you could probably amphibiously raze FF, GG or II.

Still trying to figure out the whole spy bomb thing - @Ruff_Hi - if you're around do you have any comments? If not I will have to check his thread. A few things I noticed.
I have city visibility and investigate city on all his cities, but only the ones that I have defogged. So I'll definitely need to do that on his remaining cities. Airships will be useful here.
There apparently is a total EPs spent globally factor in the cost of passive missions. For instance, I can now see shadyforce's research, even though our EPs for / against are 96/100. The levels to see anyone's research have dropped significantly. Also, I can now see the graphs of everyone but Broker.
I thought also that I would be able to see anything that any cities could see. So like units on the surrounding tiles and such, but I don't see any of that.
I will try and do a complete soldier count analysis later today, but I'd say with 85% certainty that he has no more than 5-10 units in any city, and most have 0-2, and no mega-stacks in the fog (at least on our side of the world)

On the other front, the barbs saved me a settler!
And even managed to get it right on the dot map! So it's T193, assuming it's working the 2/1/0 grass forest or deer, should grow on T204.
There's an exploit cannon moving north to the NE of Defiance (the ruins of which are right under that sheep tile in the pic). My guess is that it is reinforcing an empty city.
I have 99% odds with a cav, but only have 2 cavs that can hit that tile. I probably will take a shot at it later this turn.

Email sent to the anti-Exploit force
Quote:A few things -
1) I used the Great Spy to infiltrate Exploit this turn and have city visibility on his cities now. I will try and do a detailed soldier count analysis on his civ later on today. I didn't get a chance to play around with it too much after I did it (no time just now) but I could definitely see inside any cities that I have unfogged of his. I was not sure if I can see cities that I haven't unfogged or units that are not in cities. Daniel / Brian / munro - if you could send me a listing of any of his units that you can see and their position, that will help. Once I do the full analysis I will send it back out.
2) Daniel - I have requested Physics in-game. If you could log in sometime before the turn ends and accept that, that would be great. I'd like to start some Airships this turn. I haven't used them much except in one SGOTM where we started with Physics - they're great for recon, as well as aerial bombardment of units (a la fighters)
3) I'll have a coal for the Lins in 2t. Broker - I could use your stone for Oxford starting next turn if you can spare it.

Okay I did a quick check of Exploit's power. First of all, his power has taken a MASSIVE hit.
And remember graphs are a turn behind (and are locked in at the beginning of the turn), so I believe that is even before he lost 60 units in the Battle of Killing Knife.
Sunrise is reporting that he (sunrise) is now 5th in power, and the Lins are 4th. Sunrise reports his current soldier count is 1.03M. (Broker is 2nd or 3rd and is not on my graphs)
So now that I can see into Exploit's cities, I can add things up.
First - add up the pop for all his cities. I have visibility into 27 cities, with a total pop of 217. Using the population conversion numbers, that adds up to 17504000, compared to the #1 population number from the Demogs screen of 17510000, is 6000 off meaning I am missing one size 2 Exploit city, so he should be at 219, or 109K power.
The techs he has accounts for 122K power.
He has 16 barracks, 14 forges, 4 stables, HE and Moai, which is another 102K.
In his cities, he has 7 quechuas, 18 rifles, 2 xbows, 2 galleons, 1 cannon, 11 muskets, 3 cats, 1 impi, 1 chariot, 1 pike and 1 archer.
So add that all up and you get 762K.
As a comparison, this is what we killed at Killing Knife
25 Rifles (+GG)
11 Muskets
12 WE
4 Cavalry
11 Catapults
1 Cannon
which is 672K in soldier count!, plus 5K in pop and probably 5K in buildings for 682K. Plus I killed a musket and another city so make that 692K.
So if you add that to his current numbers, you get 1,454,000 as an estimate for what he had at the beginning of last turn, and that jives pretty well with the graph, since he looks to be about equidistant between me (1.79M) and sunrise (1.05M).
So I feel about 95% confident that he has no massive stack in the fog.

Email to shady
Quote:I saw your cav to the NE of ex-Puddle Jumper (west of Iron Fish). My cav Oingo just waved hi to him. I believe the only Incan city that I have in the fog is 2N, so either of those units can attack the city next turn.
My guess is that it is empty - Oingo killed a cannon on his current tile (1W of your cav) this turn that looked to be heading that way.
Do you want to keep it? I don't want it but I dont' mind razing and pillaging, though if you're going to keep it I won't pillage its tiles :-)
Let me know
