Gah, I was under the impression that the one you posted on the forum was the an update of our previous versions but it is a new one altogether. Next time you need to say that you have updated it since I thought we were still using the old one. I guess I better start looking at forum attachments then. banghead

I will see if I can improve my sandbox but, in the meantime, a new turn is up. Someone else can move the warrior now (we really should rename it).

I'd be inclined to leave it, but if anyone thinks it's a major problem, then I'm happy with a reload too.

Does it reveal any extra tiles? If so, then perhaps we need to take it? I've been a bit wary about making moves with my laptop mousepad too, maybe I'll start using a mouse also smile

Quote:WK, can you have another look at the spreadsheet. I've managed to find a way to get both the settler out on turn 35 and BW on turn 36 , it involves working a riverside grassland (not mine) at size3. This is better than both your Settler4 option (same timing on settler, BW on 37) and Pegasus' Settler4 (Settler on turn35, same timing on BW). I assume there's no reason to look at options that have been bettered. This reduces the options to be considered to 2.

do you mean riverside forest grassland, we don't have any riverside grasslands, i think the sandbox is wrong

misclick revealed desert hill, plain and grassland.

yep no more laptap for me, sticking to PC from now on

IMO, we shouldn't ask for a reload. The more reloads we have to do, the more annoyed the other teams are going to be. Best to spare their wrath until later, where mistakes are more likely.lol

Besides it shouldn't be a major problem. Instead we can next go NE then SE to minimize the lost turns scouting. Changes our plan but what can we do?

BTW, i have a laptop mouse and no mistakes yet.wink

Nice catch but yes Sockboy meant riverside forest grassland.

Actually I originally looked at maybe farming that square, so I'm glad none of those options made it through, that would have been a major headache banghead

I think there's a slight error in the spreadsheet, the settler4 option needs 2 turns at size four on a grassforesthill and two turns on a rivergrasshill before the 2nd mine completes. This threads the needle of enough production for settler (and overflow for workers) and enough commerce for BW. It errs on the side of extra commerce for BW, since I'm not sure if contact with the AIs in the testgame could affect that (I doubt it, but best to be sure). It also means if we plant the city and it reduces our research we should still be ok to finish BW on the next turn.

Sorry bout that, I thought it was perfectly clear when writing, but upon rereading realised it's never mentioned. Guess that's what happens when you are too focussed on something, you think everyone else is on the same page.

Well our renamed warrior is checking out the terrain. Conan the Barbarian is busy exploring the desolate wastelands of the north.

I think NE then SE is the way to go, but we're starting to get a bit far from home for my liking, hopefully there's a way through the mountains and it's not a cul de sac. Oh well, the die has been cast.

Actually, I did a run through with the settler4 option and I have to say I like it. I didn't meet any AI's so no worry about not making the tech by then. We are not going to be able to plant a city the turn we get the settler so there is also no reason to worry about BW being delayed. Right now I prefer the settler4 option due to settler and BW appearing at about the same time. I also like that you got us to 3 workers 2 turns after the settler.thumbsup

I'm starting to think that this is more like a normal map than I originally thought. We can make out desert through the fog and we are clearly in the south end of the map. The only 2 things which say otherwise are the jungle silver (which is obviously edited in) and that everyone else is inland. Maybe it's a standard map with no ocean or no-one actually started on the coast and is a continents map or something similar.

i like the growing to 4 and then settler, i'd also like to get four warriors out rather than invest in a barracks. that can come later in my view.

i wonder if we go two settlers straight off rather that build workers, quick calcs and we could have three cities by turn 43
