RB Pitboss #1 SPOILER - Hatshepsut / India

And a little update from emails

dsp
Quote:There is a single Cannon defending the city of Zulu North. Either rego or shady should be able to take it this turn with a Cavalry.
EDIT - shady took the city

Broker
Quote:Dlers first city auto razed already forgot the name of it wink

He lost 6 rifles and 3 cannon that were in the city and I killed 2 more rifles he had moving in for support. One of those at 26% odds smile GG got his 26th xp also.

I lost 3 cats and 2 Rifles at 50% odds.

Army is moving forward still trying to draw his stack back.

He told me he did a big update with lots of pictures so I'm sure you guys already know this then

Random kinda off-topic question: Do you get the impression we've (as a community) upset Exploit? His post for a replacement on CFC was hardly complimentary and he hasn't even made a thread for rbpb3 as far as i can see?

Whilst, dilplomatically in this game, i take your side, perhaps someone should try speaking to him? Even if it's just a basic 'chin up' style post?

Well, considering that at one point, he said to another player in this game that he didn't really care about the matter at hand but just wanted to "trash [rego's] reputation", I'm not going to shed that many tears on the matter.

Dreylin and I got bored waiting for Sunrise this evening, so we went ahead and took out Evil Eye

There were 3 rifles in the city

3 accuracy cannon bombarded the city to 0%
C1 Rifle beats rifle @ 65% FLAWLESS!
CR2 Cannon retreats vs. rifle @ 82%
C1Pinch Cav beats rifle @ 84%
Cav beats heavily wounded rifle @ 99.9% and we keep the city

Has the Taoist shrine so since Exploit is pretty gassed, we decided to keep it - Dreylin took it. 40 Taoist cities so that cost Exploit about 80gpt

I was pillaging some farms / mines in ex-Zulu lands that were not in the BFCs of any of shady's captured cities.

But apparently he is going to put a filler city up there so he asked me to stop lol

Got a few gold out of it though. The eastern mini stack doesn't really have a whole lot to do, though I am going to try and get some galleons up there and sail it to Exploit's core and burn it.

Okay after a bit of planning, I carried out my attack on the island city of Wild Wonders.

It went about according to plan (see link for pre-plan), except I forgot to hit with my airship before the attack smoke

C1 pinch rifle vs. rifle @20.9 - dies taking rifle to 9.2/14.

Now the wounded rifle defends vs. my cav, but muskets defend vs. rifles.

Send in C1 rifle @ 25%, dies taking the pinch musket to 0.9/9

C1 pinch rifle vs.CG musket @ 65% - wins going to 8.7/14 and more importantly gets 3XP to get to a 3rd promo

I figure that that rifle is always going to defend against the cav, so might as well do it now - Cav wins @ 62.5% - 5.1/15 and 4XP - also a 3rd promo

All the rifles now are just C1, so I send one in at 30.1% and get a win! To 8.1/14 and 4XP for a 2nd promo.

Next rifle dies at 33.4%, but then there are just 2 wounded muskets left.

Win at 70.7% and then win @ 99.9% and take the city.

I tried to take a screenshot but it said Screenshot Failed. I've been getting that periodically - anyone know why that happens?

Then I had a few extra rifles on boats, so I grabbed 2 workers. He only has muskets nearby and the cities are too small to draft, so the rifle / workers should be safe. If he wants to burn the 2 muskets on defense in Point Defense killing my rifle, then I will just burn his city down next turn.

Of course, I may do that anyways devil lol though I'd prefer to sail on into his core

Turn rolled and I got Combustion - on to Flight, due in 11 turns. I am up to 697 nominal beakers per turn.

I am attempting to build infrastructure now. My take on the global diplomatic structure is that Exploit and DLer are on their way out, and the forces that we (at least I) have will be sufficient.

And I also suspect (fear?) that a new military engagement will be starting in the not so distant future, and I want to make sure that my civ has the infrastructure in place to wage that war. A few notes:

Green Twp just finished its levee, will grow to size 20 next turn and is up to 50 base beakers per turn. It has Hindu Mandir, Market and Factory in the queue. It has one unhappy citizen right now which will go away with the Mandir (also +2 hammers and +2 beakers), but it also needs the Market to cope with me swapping to Bureaucracy for 5t next turn (and losing the 2 happies from the barracks). I did finally hook up my first corn of the game this turn and got 2 health in most citeis

Cincinnati just finished its levee (my only other city on a river frown ) and is working on Oxford University. Due in 8 now, should be 6 once I swap to Bureau.

Mason and Montgomery both finished settlers and started work on factories.

I have 3 settlers on the road that will settle in the next few turns. Another settler built in 2t.

Operation "Steal all Exploit's workers" (needs a catchy name, I know) is going well. I took 2 last turn, both survived inter-turn, AND it forced Exploit to waste money upgrading a musket to infantry. I took 4 more this turn (3 on one tile). Some interesting logistics on my galleys / galleons up there.

Not a whole lot interesting going on - but I'm here for you guys! Even though this is the redheaded stepchild game and all the "cool kids" are in PB2 and PB3, I will continue to update!!!!

Well, right now I find this game a lot more interesting than both RBPB2 & 3.

There's a lot of industrial age warfare going on here, something I have little experience with personally, so that's fun to watch. dsplaisted updated with some news from his fronts as well, that was nice. Broker and others also update once in a while so it's still possible to follow the action.

Doesn't Exploit learn from his mistakes? Not very impressive on his part that you're still able to steal his workers. Not to take anything away from your brilliant play, of course. smile
I have to run.

Well to give Exploit the benefit of the doubt, it's possible that he has forgotten (or as a replacement player never knew) that my galleons have an extra movement due to my having circumnavigated.

I'm not sure that would have made a difference or not, but it's a possibliity.

Seconded only to my brilliant play, of course, of course...

I'm a bit worried about this one - I had to attack out with a wounded C2 pinch rifle (11/14 or so). It is in a forest, but it can be hit by his CG infantry. I'm betting that he will keep it in the city but it is certainly possible I will lose the workers and my rifle.

I mean at this point, he has to be feeling pretty low about his chances to turn the diplomatic tide, and if that's so, then he is pretty much doomed. And if he is doomed, it certainly makes sense that he wouldn't want to spend that much time on the game....

The sunrise-thread-updating service strikes again!

Quote:I wanted to touch base on one thing real quick. I'm extremely please about the progress everyone has made against the Incans. I think that continuing to press them is good for several reasons: they're still in the top half of city count, they're a destabilizing influence on the game diplomatically, and their public postings in the forum tend to be mean and unpleasant. Plus, I am enjoying getting some very belated revenge for my stolen first worker.

However, as a smaller secondary power in the game I'm not benefiting as much directly from the conquest of Incan cities as some of you. I have captured the one Incan city I hoped to acquire, and may take one more. Beyond that, while I'm enjoying the war I'm also not materially helping my strategic position.

All that to say, I'd like a clarification on the "10 turn cool down" period that some civs have with others. I'm not sure if we agreed such a clause was automatically in play between all of us during the Incan war, but if it's not I would hope you would be willing to sign one with me. If we can come to such a deal it would allow me to continue waging war on the Incans with all of my resources without always being concerned with the larger meta-game environment every turn.

Thanks for reading!
