Sorry, having fun. This was a great game, and particularly good resilience from adrien. also norway just sucked.

Go Australia! Good performance. I'll send you a vote from Norway.
Austria is on...
If you know what I mean.
I was surprised to see Cleopatra representing Latvia, and Britney Spears representing Spain. Australia and UK are my favorites so far.
If you know what I mean.
I am entirely OK with 5th. Going to have one of the better average results, at least
Kinda sucks for the hosts to get nil points. Also Germany. -- Don’t forget.

As we don't belong to a voting block we always have the risk to get 0 points if we sent an mediocre act (No cheap 1 -5 points from friends for us. Not to mention no 12 points ala Scandinavia ). IMO our act would have deserved somewhere around place 20. I don't think that Sweden deserved the win. the lightshow was great but the song not so much. OTOH one has to be happy that next years ESC isn't happening in a totalitarian land that ignores both human-rights and borders of its neighbours so thanks Sweden.
Yeah, it's not the first time I find myself cheering for Sweden as the "lesser evil".
If you know what I mean.
I think Italy would have been a better winner. In general I would say the quality of this year's songs was quite low, even by ESC standards.
I have to run.
Honestly, of the top three I thought Italy had by far the best song.
Russia's was basically "I am so sorry about my country" but fairly generic about it, while Sweden had a fairly average (and ripped off) song backed by an absolutely stunning stage presentation. And despite the fact that I (along with everyone I was watching with) was complaining every time Belgium got points for the majority of the vote count, would have been interesting to see it actually win. The wave of copycats next year would have been something different, at least. -- Don’t forget.

Some additional comments to the ESC
Italy would have won had only the public-voting counted (Russia still 2nd Sweden 3rd). The Jurys did push Sweden to place 1. It was also the work of the jury that Finland and Czech got voted off in the Semi-finals. Note for the norwegians: Without Jury Albania would have reached 8th instead of Norway which would have seen only rang 17. Looks to me the Jury-members all around got a nice sponsoring from the north. |
