RBP3 [Spoilers] Capac of Mali

And here's the screenshot jive:

Zoomed in to capture of the Twin Peaks south of the marble. Whilst an über-city of corn, pigs & marble is tempting, I think we'd want to make one city for the corn and another for the pigs, given the realtive lack of food discovered so far.

I'd rephrase this statement slightly to ask how quickly could our rivals get the Oracle, and which tech would they choose? Unfortunately for us, Bismarck (IND/EXP) of India (myst/mining) has the same attractive benefit of cheap forges from Metalcasting, and the same IND bonus to production. Their combination of EXP and Fast Workers leads me to believe that they would beat us to the Oracle if they were to beeline it (assuming their starting position is similar to ours) because they’ll be able to get a 2nd worker sooner than we can.

Quote: With 17 teams, I'm not sure if we can even wait to research Masonry if we want to ensure that we get it, which means that the Marble won't really help us. It might be best if we don't even research Animal Husbandry before priesthood, although that would certainly slow down our growth...

I agree that we don’t want to wait for Marble, and that’s not such a big problem because we’re IND and Oracle is relatively cheap.

Although I said that India can outrun us to Oracle if they beeline it, I’m not sure they will. With at least three rush civs at large (Rome, Aztecs, Egypt, and maybe Ragnar of Maya if their neighbour lacks copper) then a single player style Oracle gambit becomes much more risky.

Therefore I think we should go for growth and then consider our options once we’ve got those key techs in the bag, have revealed horses & copper, and met some neighbours.

My ideal path for Oracle would be Agri-AH-BW-Pottery-Myst-Medi-Priest. In spite of Oracle being an attractive gambit for us, I don’t think the benefit is large enough to go ‘all-in’, so I’d prefer to hedge our bets.

First post updated with some background (and I did check the mouseover for spoilers, so don't worry):

Turn 8 played. Moved the warrior SW onto the forest, revealing a plains tile so I didn't bother to make a screenshot.

Inca (athelete & co.) got a score increase to 30.

I'm quite fine with that tech path. I think it's quite likely that we'll miss the Oracle, but that's fine.

Well speaking from PB1 experience I spent alot of time recovering from building the oracle so I am fine with not going "all in" for it.

I've also put together some of the C&D info for the opening turns. Most of it is stored locally, but I'm slowly putting together a google spreadsheet which I'll share when it's less rubbish alright

Main highlights: Inca grew (as mentioned) so they're working a 3 food tile (and likely training a warrior). Power increases indicate 2 warriors were completed on T8. I assume it's the two hunting civs (HRE & Aztec) working 2/1/x tiles to avoid a Mortius.

Another turn rolled so I moved the warrior W. Agri due next turn.

The C&D dept reports a score increase for Inca consistent with founding a religion (6 points). If correct, I'm quite surprised as they'd need an adjusted 16bpt to complete Meditation's 144 beakers so rapidly. No Buddhism FIDAL message, but Inca hasn't logged in this turn. If not Meditation, any ideas as to the score increase?

Wouldn't moving the warrior SW have been better?

I think the religion FIDL message will appear whether the team has logged in or not. I'm not sure you even get points for founding a religion. I think you only get points from territory, population, techs, and wonders. Perhaps ancient era techs are worth 6 points?

SW would have only revealed the desert and the peak we can see from tile bleeding, so I decided to be conservative, lest a desert lion eat our warrior.

That would make sense of the numbers. Thanks.
