Our scout Hernan has spent a disturbingly long time flexing in front of the mirror since hearing you'd described him as "mighty". We just haven't had the heart to tell him the truth yet. Still, although Hernan couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag, at least he can run away pretty quickly - we'll meet civs faster and gather more information than those who start with warriors.
We ARE willing to share these benefits with you; in other words, we agree to your request to exchange information on other civs and where to find them. We're (clearly) not an aggressive/early rush civ and we hope this gesture shows our friendly intent and desire to cooperate. I'll tell you right off the bat that as of now A4 is the only civ we've made contact with.
As far as a NAP is concerned. Yes, that is the likely outcome if our relationship - as it appears to be doing - develops along friendly lines. At a minimum we'll require a better knowledge of our surroundings and a fairly specific agreement with you regarding aggressive settlements; having said that, since a NAP would be mutually beneficial it's something we're willing to start working towards.
I think that's a good place to start. Let us know how things are going. If you're fair and show a willingness to work with us, you'll find us to be a strong ally.

MB, overall, I like your message. I agree with some of what Ilios said as well. I'm not too concerned about sounding like pushovers because I think that will be more established when we are actually bargaining over settling rights and/or other trades. I word our gesture more like:
Quote:We offer you the knowledge that your team is the only one we have encountered so far. We hope that this gesture of goodwill shows our friendly intent and desire to cooperate. A similar gesture back would go far in cultivating the peaceful relations of our two civs.
That said, I'm also fine with just going with Ilios suggestions and leaving it at that.
As for our warrior, I saw move to the hill NW for the visibility.

That sounds a bit strained doesn't it? If I were A4 I'd just reply as "gesture" we're the first team they met as well...
Edit: Bah double post...

Moved onto the hill, nothing there to see so we can keep our warrior headed around the homelands.
Re: our message, you're probably right. The gesture back is assumed. Their choice to reciprecate or not let's us get to know them better. The message probably doesn't need to be that explicit.

At a minimum we'll require a better knowledge of our surroundings and a fairly specific agreement with you regarding aggressive settlements; let's put it another way - we would be suitably unimpressed if we were to sign an NAP and then see you plop your second city 4 tiles from our capital . Having said that, since a NAP would be mutually beneficial it's something we're willing to start working towards.

better? if so i'll send it in a couple of hours.
not sure it's necessary to ask whether they've met anyone else
1) because they damn well better tell us since we told them
2) because it's somewhat unlikely on turn 10 given their starting warrior came towards us
if it's ok with you guys, i'd like to NOT ask them for any info with this initial message. i think the tone of our message makes it seem like we're giving away a lot more info than we actually are, and i'd like to see if they reciprocate.
if they're open, we can really start exchanging info. i'd like to get an idea of what the land around their capital looks like, especially to get a sense of how many different starts there are (at least 2 given several teams were working 3-food tiles)
edited to say: crosspost with dazed and whoa, spooky how we even use the same language and all

Wow again no new resources to our NW, maybe Sullla forgot to put a few...
The message is perfect, except for the "suitably unimpressed". I'm trying to find a different wording to express our dissatisfaction....
Edit: Nope, no inspiration, so I'm ok with the message

New turn up. Renamed Warrior #1 to Tricky Dick and moved SW in the forest. That valley NW of Dim really looks nice. Too bad there's just Spices, because I think it'd be a great site for a city. Hernan continues licking his wounds, will be fully healed in 6 turns.
As there wasn't anything else we had planned, I have ended the turn.

Lobo.Thibron (Peter of Korea) has been eliminated. I'm thinking it was either Sleeping Moogle's team or Krill.
And then there were 16...
Edit: Actually I'm pretty sure it was Sleeping Moogle, because he changed his name to <blank> before logging in, 4 minutes later Lobo was eliminated. He logged out and 15 minutes later he logged back in as Sleeping Moogle (Hannibal of Byz).
Lots of activity in the threads, so I guess everyone knows...

That means Korea went worker first and didn't bother to keep the starting warrior inside the city. They deserve to be eliminated!
I've got to say, all this double move crap is making me nervous. You'd almost keep from hitting end turn until the last second, to make sure someone's exploring warrior doesn't move to our borders end of the turn and moves it again at the beginning of the next.
I'm wondering what would happen if someone would come to our city and see it defenseless. Big surprise for him when, the turn before victory, he sees a warrior looking down on him from the hilltops and starts making taunting noises... (your mother was a hamster, etc)
