I played turn 13. Nothing to do except end turn. smile

A lion showed up 3SW of Sirian.

I also played turn 14... which consisted of pressing space bar and clicking "End Turn".

The worker will finish next turn and start a farm on the Rice.

Turn 15: Worker finishes and starts farm on Rice. Sirian starts building a Warrior.

Turns 16 and 17 played, with nothing notable happening except it seems a lot of lions are skirting or borders.

Turn 18 has been & gone (for us at least). Warrior fortified: he'll be able to head out in a few more turns (when we have some more hammers in the warrior we're training).

The last two teams have completed their first tech: India & Portugal learning BW. A predictable - and strong - opening from EXP India, but a bit more quixotic coming from Willem of Portugal. Maybe they have a lot of forests to chop...

Swiss,

Do you need the screenshots of the demographics for the turns you were away?

I ended turn 19 for us. The farm is finished, and Sirian will grow to size 2 in 2 turns.

We meet our first neighbour, Pericles of Babylon:

The warrior appeared whilst I was making our moves, so I didn't see him prior to unfortifying the warrior. I then moved the warrior back into the city, which might be a mistake if they choose to try to choke us (though we can move back out next turn). I ended turn before they did.

The team is Twintletoes89, Kyan & Whosit. Hard to guage their attitude from experience: as Broker knows well, Whosit was aggressive early in PB2, but with AGG Rome there no other sensible play. Pericles (PHI/CRE) of Babylon (Bowman/Garden) is a choice that favours peaceful expansion in the early game over early rushes.

Here's my proposed message to them:
Quote:Well met Babylon!

It seems you've braved the gauntlet of lions to reach our borders; we hope you can survive the one on the forest to your warrior's SE. For our part, we have been less bold, and our warrior guards our capital.

You are the only nation we've met so far, and we look forward to working with you. Have you met any other civs? If there's one lesson to be taken from the MP games at RB, it's that friends and allies are priceless. Our civs have complementary economic traits (PHI & FIN), and defensive UUs, so we believe there is every ground for co-operation between us. We realise you may not wish to commit your empire to an alliance so soon, but be assured that any overtures in this direction will be warmly received by Mali.

Kind Regards

Emperor Capac of Mali

Clearly, I'm being pretty forward here, but the big call - to DoW or not - is theirs to make. They can stall on an alliance, or jump right in. If they want to commit to an alliance at this stage, we get them to agree to keep it quiet shhh

Even if the do decide to DoW, we should give them the chance to take peace when they see that they could choke, but not eliminate, us from the game.

Thoughts?
