WW #41. New Horizons.

So last night I used sensor, it breaks polygraph. I was thinking about saying something during the night but was hopeful that I would survive given how I ended day 1. If you are wondering why I allowed myself to be "rerouted" novice, I simply didn't have enough to make a stand on anyone and I thought brick was as likely a case as any. I also was running on a hangover and 4 hours of sleep. I did however think it was a good opportunity to somewhat split the votes and make a sensor usage useful.

There was only 1 scum among the people who lynched brick.

For me that means that it's between zak, novice and Adrien. I'm going to go back and check the voting records in a bit and evaluate, but this is where I stand having just woken up.

I'd also like to confirm that Lockdown and Repositioning are paired together as I have those two abilities left as well. I think this means we have ability pairs, but the villagers aren't mirror images of each other.

Unless of course novice is lying scum and was just guessing obvious pairs to use as cover. nono

Going back and reading the flow of votes on Day 1. I feel that Adrien and Gazglum are our two scum.

Start here at #123:

(September 20th, 2015, 03:38)novice Wrote: Tally as of post 122:

Lynch votes
4 votes: novice (Rowain, AdrienIer, zakalwe, BRickAstley)
2 votes: BRickAstley (novice, Bacchus)
2 votes: AdrienIer (Goreripper, Gazglum)
1 votes: Bacchus (Lewwyn)
1 votes: Zakalwe (Serdoa)

Then I voted for Adrien.

Gaz (On adrien) starts posting trying to get a Rowain train going. He even votes for Rowain twice here.

I think it's possible that gaz was sitting on his scumbuddy and was ready to jump off if he reached critical mass. I also don't know if I believe Gaz was in Lockdown if novice claims he didn't do it and I didn't do it.

I have mostly liked novice and Zak today as well leaving me with Adrien. The caveat to this is that neither of them died last night and that gives me pause because usually if one of them is scum they don't like to kill the other. But given that they were on the Brick lynch it stands to reason that scum wouldn't want to kill any of us who were on the lynch.

Anyway this is all circumstantial at the moment and I plan to do a lot more rereading today as should have another hour this afternoon. What's really bugging me is that currently my cases aren't built heavily enough on scum tells, so I reserve the right to completely change my mind.

Actually it was Goreripper who said that. If I had confirmed it, I probably would have remembered that and then not voted for Brick. smoke

Oh and I think one of the reasons I'm mostly liking Zak and novice to today is that they've posted they suspect me, and if I were them I would be voting for me based on the end of day 1 and no more posts till now. So that could be a false positive. rolleye

Considering my current train of thought, this:

(September 21st, 2015, 12:31)Gazglum Wrote: Does anybody want to claim locking out the Glum, and give their reason?

(September 21st, 2015, 12:32)AdrienIer Wrote: 10 bucks that scum did it

is very interesting. Set up the "anybody claim?" and then scumbuddy follows up with an excuse when no one will claim that. If you think this is too cute, I think you're wrong. Ask yourself, Why is Adrien immediately jumping to the conclusion that the glum is blocked by scum? Jailer would prevent a night kill, so it stands to reason that there is a definite possibility that a village might think that they are protecting Gazglum. Adrien appears to discount that in favor of getting ahead of the whispers that the glum wasn't targeted by a villager.

Thinking in the context of the Sensor ability, if there was a scum voting Brick, they wouldn't want to cut down the possiblilities by reducing the field of suspects after a sensor potentially was told '1 of the 4 Brick voters was scum'. So Goreripper makes sense in the context of minimising information we might get.

On the other hand, if all four Brick voters were town, Scum would have a big incentive to kill one of them, because of the horror of getting 4 cleared villagers. That's not to say that there HAS to be scum among Novice, Zak, Lewwyn and Adrien, but I think it's likely, especially given Day 1's play.

Zak, why did you vote Brick at the last minute yesterday?

Gaz seems pretty confident that there has to be 1 scum among the voters for Brick. In fact, he's spent the whole day joking, complaining about being blocked and going after Zak. Hey, wait a minute what about Rowain? Didn't you raise a big stink about lynching Rowain yesterday? Funny how that's sortof gone under the radar now.

In fact let's go back and look at that.

Here's the second time he voted for Rowain:

(September 20th, 2015, 05:54)Gazglum Wrote: I have to be off this afternoon, and I might not be able to make it back to post before this evening. Ideally I would want to hear more before locking a vote in, but I think I'm moderately happy staying on Rowain. I don't think he is playing town aligned.

In fact, I am coming to think that he is scum. He is arguing semantics with me instead of just focusing on the game. I am the one person I think he has described as towny, but he's fighitng me instead of pressuring any of his suspects. His attack on NOvice is barely worthy of the name of attack.

And as Serdoa says, if we're wrong then we don't lose that much on mislynching him. We still go into Day 2 at probably 6 town to 2 scum, and no distractions.

Sometimes 3rd party roles have a victory condition which sees them leave play. Like Poseidon last game, or that time in the Paranoia game. If Rowain can trigger his win condition midgame, we might end up losing him anyway, which will weaken the town votes against scum.

I think Rowain is a good candidate for ship ejection, even given the amount of lurking happening from Adrien, Goreripper and BRrick. At the least, I think he should be pressured to reveal everything about his role, powers and win condition.

Bolded my emphasis. He's starting to believe he is scum!

And then:

(September 20th, 2015, 15:20)Gazglum Wrote: GG Brick. Sorry that happened to you, hope you get some time to relax and enjoy the proceeds of the yard sale now.

That was a pretty lame lurker lynch. I think Serdoa summed it up well in his post. I think there was a better case on Adrien, as Bacchus summarised, and I have town leans on Serdoa and Bacchus who voted him. So maybe I owe Rowain another apology.

Gentlemen, let us retire to our hackstations.

I do not understand why sudden;y Gazglum owes Rowain an apology? Suddenly? There was a better case on Adrien so Rowai voting there was good? So now Rowain isn't scummy anymore?

Also why not go after Adrien if you now think he had a better case on him? But no. New day, let's go after Zak instead.

Yeah I'm reading gazglum really scummy now.

Good posts, Lewwyn. My only concern is that that it's somewhat convenient to claim a sensor result that just confirms what everybody was assuming, anyway. Why not use repositioning and save the sensor for a more interesting lynch?

I tried to boost my own vote last night, but it seems like I was blocked by the code blocking ability. At least there's no mention of lockdown.

Apparently, I could also have used my ability on N0, but I didn't realize that at the time. (I had a very short N0.)

Did nobody do anything on N0?

Bacchus, do you also have the weighted voting / jettison interruption combo? If so, why didn't you use it on N0?
If you know what I mean.

Rowain, what is your victory condition, and did you block Gazglum?
