I'm going for calendar, will be about 6 turns from now. No, I won't go for MoM, this is to connect two nice commerce resources and +2 happy. After that I should consider metal casting. Or caravel-tech, see the world. Hopefully someone gets alphabet for open borders. I'll get a scouting galley out soonish, but no clear islands have appeared...
Maps and cities:
First off, NE frontier.
I don't know how far Ichabod has settled in the desert, but now I actually have a Wood II warrior who can go find out. Newest city by Iron here - my 3rd iron so I guess I'm depriving someone of iron. This will be the strong city, room for fillers with 50% around it. Defendable on a hill and not boatable, so this shall be my strength, my tower, in times of trouble.
It also will have excellent food in 9 turns, maybe just farm all around it and make it GP farm.
To the NW, I have Dtay.
This city will be limit of expansion in this direction for a while. Good place to station a garrison/oppotunistic strike force, see if Dtay/Ichabod/AT goes to war.
The "City" sign here actually manages to pick up the corn..I thought I had lost the corn to AT's city location. I was mad. So...the whole city-grab war war not really needed afterall. Sorry, AT. Or perhaps sorry me, once AT finishes his buildup.
Go West:
This city. It was too near me, I felt, but now it IS too near AT. I had some plans to raze, and refound one the PH two east. Long-term I should have done that. But after shedding so much blood taking it (I imagined it would go easier, but whipped walls and two archer who defend against swords mean 3 deaths) I thought I'd get my cash return on a saved settler, so I took it as it was.
Last, and very much least, the south.
I think the SW city towards Adrien needs to happen before he settles here. City building wealth for lack of better things - it wants to grow a size to work stone, but after that probably another worker. Or settler, for less travel time.
Some choice cities:
Capital:
Second city, nice bonus tiles:
Market again for +2 happy firstly, + gold is okay here.
Spoils of war:
This is probably the best city I have ever taken in a RB pitboss game...
(sorry, internal joke)
I believe it was the first city captured in this game, correct me if I'm wrong.... after the game I spose.
Anyway, I foresee a dun here, library maybe for culture, and archers/axes/spears with G2 defending.
Ex-Barb city:
Furs. Also first seaside city. 2 chops incoming, will finish library then probably galley to look for islandia. Need to settle these seaside cities around here too, I think they can be decent with extra commerce from FIN...something with quay. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
Demos, military, city overview and graphs:
GNP reflects 100% gold. 100% science is about 3rd or 4th. Saving gold since a library is done next turn. Then burn gold until markets complete 4-7 turns from now.
What the heck are my cities doing again?
Oh, yeah. Right. Sure. Whatever.
Military - recently another 2 gallics and an axeman. Their names will be remembered.
Graphs do not include dtay yet. Working on it.
GNP:
Food:
MfG:
My weak spot? I don't have many mines up, thats for sure. Working on that too.
Power:
I got the POWER - dun - dun - dun du du du dun - dun - dun
(I just got the double meaning here. I was originally just doing the song thing, then realized I'm actually Celts)
Good tech and good power. Don't attack me. Yet.
This is really obviously my land. Your fault, man.
I must say he took the last war well, we are trading gold <-> silver and he gave me open borders for 5gtp. However his TR weren't worth anything because recent war. So bad call by me then. Or rather, something new to learn about how long it takes for foreign TRs to be good.
Guess we'll be at war in 2-3 turns, after he settles the city. Or perhaps wait until it grows? Then I might add some catapults into the fray.
I know he'll say "well why didn't Molach settle that 10 turns ago?"
Research. Got calendar, +1 happy and nice commerce in high commerce cities.
Just got metal casting, and would really really have liked to build forges a few places, with double precious metals.
Next tech was code of laws...but I'll go grab construction instead.
AT has high power, so I must prepare for his counterattack. With luck he can't overcommit into my lands because he has Dtay bordering him north, and Adrien might be looking to expand somehow into his lands as well.
Object of my war is just to chase AT off my lands. But if he'll take a white peace after I rape a second of his cities he's a lot more tolerant than me.
I think I am improving at this...instead of waiting passively till I am finally invaded, I now am proactively punishing close settlings. A few games from now I expect I'll be actually doing smart things with my military.
And I am sorry, but pictures of the front are not to be passed out due to frontline security. Sorry.
I have 2 catapults and something like 7 gallic warriors and 4-5 other units, so I hope again I can raze the city, donate back the gains from razing city and hopefully peace out.
Military have now released reports from the fighting against AT.
We attacked a city on a hilltop, containing an unforeseen number of protective archers. And city walls.
Missing in this shot, for some &%¤%& reason, is me sacrificing two catapults first.
4 gallic were GIII, rest were only GII
I offered 12 gold for peace, which happened to be what I captured from the city (razed).
AT declined peace, moved a keshik stack next to my NW-wards size 6 city. He would have taken it.
I re-offered 62 gold and he accepted! Damn nice, he really could have hurt me by razing that city. It was good for me, obviously, but also an opportunicy for him to go elsewhere, as I would have counterattacked his stack and killed it. Now our borders are set, and I would much rather go against Adrien or Ichabod for expansion.
Here is the late T100 update. So late it is T102 instead, for TBS:
Demos, 50% science. I think.
Economy, took a picture of 50% (breakeven) science.
Military, post AT-war.
Techs. I am missing religious stuff to the left (meditation, polytheism, priesthood) and horseback riding.
Cities, pop and what they're doing:
Yep, called my city founded after I raze AT's "Making Enemies".
AT razed my 2nd city. Which was crappy, being one of MY cities, but anyway.
How the heck did he manage that? I thought there were no units in range.
Anyway, game has now....again....degenerated into a blood&death war versus AT. I offered adrien free incence, message being "hey lets be friends, help me fight AT". Also offered incence<->silk trade with dtay. He has had scouts around the scenes of our worst fighting, so he knows this is a real, heavy, bloody war. And I think Geography favours AT as a target over me. But it seems that the real good players don't get involved into these blood&death wars, so perhaps not a good way to win these games.
Christmas gift for y'all might be a proper report with pics. If you've been nice.
As a gesture of goodwill, I finally changed that super-annoying misspelling of [SPLOIRERS] that has been grating at everyones nerves for half a year now.
