[spoilers] Commodore and Dtay are Sitting Bull of Inca, somehow.

Just saying that if they did, would be a shame if it were because you didn't have time to sim out important battles and they did, for instance. If they were to out-think you when you actually had time and had put in the necessary thought yourself, 1st place would seem more earned.

Meh. The eternal cop-out cry of the sqeamish " I would have waded through rivers of blood and conquered the world, only I had to take out the garbage and walk the dog. Oh and the kids needed bedtime stories and food on the table so I didnt have the time".

Working on it. Reducing castles to rubble via frigate-applied cannonballs, check:

...and mate, flawless victory:

Grumpy down makes our empire stretch from pole to pole, and disrupts HAK's Full Circle. thumbsup

I want Belligerent, too. Two more turns of waddling/frigging towards it, then kaboom. It ain't a *great* island, but it is a spare one.

I haven't had a ton of time, but I've had more time to tighten up micro; observe the timing of tech and great person:

Lucky me. Popped another one. I guess I'd rather us have seven commerce than one hammer, but hard to get super stoked.

Now if we had Mining Inc access...

HAK...totally withdrew/deleted (withdrew most of it) his entire garrison again. Toot I mean I like XP and all, but he could have waited two more turns...and left one CG1 rifle there to cost me one hitter...meh. Our island now, only took a thousand years.

Culture! Fix yoself!

Next up! Tacape pops borders in two turns; we'll send a big old murder of cannons scudding across the newly orange roads...

...perfection. And Gav can capture or raze with his knight stack, his choice.

Oh this is lovely. HAK you great beautiful goof, this is where you mass and strike with your military? shakehead I guess it didn't really matter; DZ has not been climbing his power appreciably, so a dogpile weren't gonna happen either way.

The military that isn't tied up defending your core cities here from empty galleons, of course.

Outstanding. And I had taken 225 overview pictures, so...we won, as that city that fell was the MoM city. Probably was inevitable anyway at this point, as demos looked like this:

...including ratios. When you additionally consider that we were five turns from both Assembly Line and a golden age...

Despite the power disparity, the geography had set up highly favorably by this point, all further progress would need to come over water, and neither HAK nor DZ had good answers to a dozen ironclads and plenty of frigates; the long-term drydock prebuilding meant that we were never going to get outbuilt on the waters, and Theocracy/drydock experience levels meant our ships were faster and tougher than anyone else non-Zulu. Forty cannon with plenty of well promoted rifles (and still-tough protective muskets) held the interiors admirably while the few but fast galleons shuffled massive troop totals in the active war theater far south. Infantry would have allowed a proper push into Holy Rome again, but only after mass-factories built in the golden age ensured *double* the world MFG.

If things continued, though, I am 100% certain we would have lost half a dozen more supermedic generals to mischance, misclicks, and carelessness.

Turn 225, Pitboss 25: The End
I truly loved this game. I feel a little bad about letting it drag; if I had maintained the tight focus of the early game past eating Retep I think we could have all been out of this faster, but September/October were just crazy busy months, and Dtay with his new job lost a crapton of time too. Still in all, good job on all parts, particularly impressed with the two other Big Powers HAK/Mindy and DZ'AI; you guys made excellent strides and I think (not having read threads yet, so...) that having Mindy and AI along made a real difference. Appreciate all the players, the mapmaker, and you viewers at home, this was quite the epic game here in Greater Inca.

Old Harry, a final quick concluding note; the size of this pitboss map was *perfect*. We ate two other competitors, and had almost exactly 40 cities from that. That's big and complex, but still very much manageable. It made for a high-stress early game, but that's a great thing...I know I do so much better with a tight focus rather than a sprawling sandbox of lushness, and it's great to have things matter from the get-go.
