Stack 1E from the main has two chariots and an axe. Still no additional units in the capital. Also, it hasn't been whipped (well, unless it has grown to S7 between turns, as I now think of it). I could take 36% chance to take it this turn with a chariot but decided to play safe. He may have units to retake it via counter-attack. Also, three chariots are positioned to attack Horse city next turn.
Also this:
This is OK. I think I have a pretty good chance to take back this region with HAs even if Tsargon claims it for now.
"Tsargon is one of the players from badgame.net, along with Borsche, Agent427, and myself. I've known him for quite a long time, 6 years or so now, from back when we used to post on a politics forum together. This is his 6th pitboss game, including the recently started PB27. Tsargon started out as mild-mannered, bumbling, pushover in his first game a year and a half ago, but since then has learned very quickly to become one of the better players at badgame. I'd rate him just a hair below Borsche in terms of overall ability. Very interestingly, as Tsargon has gotten better at the game, he's also become far more paranoid, to the point where the rest of the badgame crew now considers him to be a deranged psychopath. If he had picked a faster-starting leader, he'd probably be the guy I'd want to start next to the least, other than TBS".
Took Doberman this turn, it was defended by a single warrior. There was an axe 1NW from it which I killed with a chariot. Unfortunately, it's gonna be killed back by another axe.
The capital was reinforced by a C2 Axe but that's it. Also, on the turn roll no new unit appeared in it (though it worked both mines). I suspect it was building a chariot which got cancelled due to loss of horses. Also, I have a feeling that Grimace doesn't have Archery researched. From the start of the war his capital hasn't produced a single unit. I don't really see how it would be possible if he could build archers.
It seems silly to complain about this war but it could have gone even better if I had more chariots instead of axes: both Doberman and Capital could have been taken a turn earlier. I expected that his capital would add an archer every turn and I will face a tough defensive stack. Hence, I was more concerned with raw power needed to break through it than with mobility and flexibility.
Annoying, given that Chariots would have niche uses for a pretty long while (in the role of scouts, at least) and axes will be nearly useless after this war.
To be frank I'm really puzzled by all these people who literally spend hours in game this early. What are they even doing? I usually have almost all necessary decision pre-made when I play turns, so it doesn't take much time.
I often wonder if they alt-tab waiting for the game to load, and then just forget about it... I know I did that all the time in PB18 because the load time was so extreme.
What is your city count up to right now? Is it 8, 9 once you take the capital on your side of this turn? And what about total population?
I took the capital. Grimace reinforced it with an archer and another warrior, so it turned out to be much bloodier than I anticipated. Archer made a big difference because it effectively protected an Axe from my lone chariot. If I had at least two chariots around, things would be much easier.
In this reality, I basically had to bruteforce city defences with Axes and lost five of them. On the positive side, in the east Grimace has chosen not to attack my chariot and retreated his axe instead. Good, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to chase it down before it reaches his next city.
Tsargon is annoying here but this is to be expected.

I currently have nine cities, together with freshly captured. 32 pop.
