Given our lack of worker techs right now I would suggest something like this.
Worker at size 3, chop/whip and build a settler at size 2. We could then work the rice and grass/hill/mine while building a settler and having 2 workers chop it out. We could also whip it as well.
Otherwise given the time it will take to tech AH or Hunting-->AH we should go settler first I think. After that we'll need wheel for sure.

A few thoughts:
* We need to get that copper, so I suggest a city 1NW of the copper that would also grab pigs after expansion.
* Hunting is tempting for bonus and also leads to archery, but our objective here is pottery. If we think it doesn't delay pottery too much, then I agree to do Hunting next. Keep in mind that the second city is a bit far, so it may significantly slow down our economy. Also, we really need AH not only for the sheep but also for horses!
* If/when we get copper we should consider rushing the Aztecs. I am not saying to do it, but to consider it. To that end we should scout the surrounding land around their capital and find if or where they have copper.

My thoughts:
Settler first for the copper looks beter to me then worker before settler.
We can send the first worker with the settler to get the copper connected.
Rushing the Aztecs sounds tempting indeed. Chop a few forests for some axes and go for it.
But to do that, we need The Wheel, rather sooner then later.
We could have our first worker start roading toward the copper once The Wheel is in.
If we seriously want to do that, we should change to The Wheel now and take Hunting/AH or POTTERY afterwards.
We should send Sausage to the copper area to do some scouting.

Should have scouted a bit more south, that river at copper could be connected to our capital. I'll post more thoughts later.

Ya the more I think about it the more I think settler before worker at size 3. Also we should probably research the wheel first to go along with settler first. This makes sure cities are connected and copper . We could then go Hunting -->AH or pottery or something.

Here's the diplo exchange with Ruff so far:
Us to Aztecs:
Quote:Hi Ruff,
Our exploring Inca found the borders of your civilization.
We hope to live in peace and prosper together.
We'll have more things to discuss in the future, I imagine, but I just wanted to say hi.
Kind regards,
Nakor of JANK Team
His response:
Quote:Greeting Nakor of Team JANK,
It is a great pleasure to meet you ... you are the 3rd nation that we have met and the first to locate our holdings. Where are you located? Who else have you met? What are your future intentions?

"I haven't met a person that I cannot sacrifice."
And our response:
Quote:Well Met Rapoleon_Hi!
Congratulations on founding Buddhism. That Buddha guy always looks like he enjoys food!
You are the first nation we have met and are located somewhat to your east. Perhaps you could help direct us to meet the others you have mentioned? Who are they specifically?
As for our intentions we seek to be peaceful yet recognize the potential power that lies within your sacrificial rites. If we could arrange for our great nations to enjoy each others company we might be able to share in those rites and plunder and pillage the world together. What do you think?
Kind Regards,
The JANK Team

Can we all agree to The Wheel (10t)?
I changed it, but we can change it back if we decide otherwise before the turn ends.

Ok. This is going to be a risky tactic. If our attack fails, then Ruff will likely gun for us for the rest of the game. The conditions are not ideal, we aren't exactly close and neither is that copper to our capital.. but that just means he won't expect it as much! It'll be a nice change compared to my conservative tactics in my last game, so I'm fine with this.
As a clarification, I suppose we're going for a rush if we go with the wheel first, right? Wouldn't make sense to me otherwise.

I agree on the wheel but I am not convinced about settler before worker. I don't have time to do numbers, but usually not having enough workers can cost us longer term. Again, remember that it's not only about improving the land but also about chopping. 2 workers speed up chopping which in turns speeds up everything else. As such, I think we should still consider a 2nd worker before settler.
EDIT: We don't have to go for a rush with the Wheel, but we will at least have the option. We can go for pottery before AH then, which is the must-have tech for us.
