Red squares are cities I'm definetely going to settle. Clam city will be up soon and I'll probably build the Moai there, to make it a half decent city. Other option is Undead Asylum, but that's a good city even without Moai.

Blue square is a city that I could, perhaps, settle. But it's very risky and likely to make Molach mad... And since I think I'll make dtay mad too, perhaps it's too much of a stretch. No! I'm a confident man now! I'll conquer Molach and dtay!

----

Parthenon (not sure if I'll land it, but I think it's worth a try) + Music GArt is my plan to get back at dtay. I'll have that corn and my respect back. I'm also making a decent military to defend the city, so as not to give dtay a free wonder and put him even more on the lead.

The big deal about Statue of Zeus is that I can have a unit that dominates the battlefield for quite some time, triple-promoted elephants, be it c2/shock or c2/formation. With my cool UB, I can also get 2 promo catapults in every city with a barracks/odeon. That's a cool army! Problem is, both my neighbours are powerful, so there's no easy conquest. I can hope that Molach and AT get back into a war and I can pile in, or I can hope Molach starts falling back in the military. I'm less likely to attack dtay in the future, even though his lands have the best avenue for an attack (my border with Molach is too wide).

Firelink Shrine will also get the HE and it'll be almost full military for the whole game. Need to decide on a new Capital, most likely.

My crude analysys of the map is that I got the best (or one of) starting position. If I was a little better, my position could be very good, with more land than what I think most players can have. I think the mining resources you get in your nearby land are connected to your position on the map (meaning, number of neighbours). Molach is on the central position, so gold (best). dtay likely has a third neighbour to the west, so gems (middle). I have only two neighbours and very safe backlines and backfill, so silver (worst). Pretty interesting... Not sure if that theory fits with AT having silver, though...

Speaking of AT, he traded silver to everyone first, so I'm out of the global market. That's annoying... I hope Molach prefers to traded his gold for my silver in the near future, instead of ATs, because they have been in a war already. I'm waiting for Adrien to improve a second source of gems, so I can trade his gems for my silver (maybe he's already trading with a player I don't know). I really love Adrien, by the way, he gave me OB for free, boosting my commerce and allowing me to finally explore more of the map. AT wants compensation for his OB, and I don't like that. I wish I was bordering AT, I'd like to conquer him more than Molach or dtay.

Your memory fails you, my friend, because Krill is a protector of the elephants and forced us to not build it with Ivory anymore (it's 200h now, with no resource bonus). neenerneener

Congrats on the statue!! And I think you're doing very well - don't undersell yourself so much!

Thanks.

I already posted this one, but it's appropriate, anyway:

I think I can still be relevant and make a good showing in this game, but I doubt I can win it. For instance, my demos are pretty inflated, because I rarely whip. And, as much as I think about it, I can't really find a good way of expanding my land. It's gotta be through Molach, but he's doing pretty well and his GNP is really, really high, so he'll never fall behind on tech, at least not until after the knight era.

Perhaps I should be more focused on a long term plan of getting knights (double and triple promos) to conquer Molach or something. But I want to leave a mark on this game and that means bombing dtay's city with a GArt. I need to do something about that city, it's what all my Empire thinks about. To hell if that means getting on the bad side of the leader and a very good player. To hell if that means losing my chance of getting a better position in this game. My heart is in it and I'll work hard to keep my focus in it too.

Though I'd say it's not so bad of a plan. If I snag some wonders while going for Music, that's pretty good. My other tech options don't give much. I already have half of my TRs international, so I don't really need Alpha. My expenses are very, very low, so I don't need CoL and CHs. My Capital is not very good on the commerce side, so Bureau wouldn't be that big. Forges are too expensive still. I have only 1 Calendar resource and my happy cap is pretty high due to CHA (even though I'm out of the luxury market). Construction is cool, for CHA Odeons and phants/cats, but I don't have the needed infra to produce them yet, neither the need.

Perhaps getting HR and making an army of HAs??? Yeah, probably not that great.

So, going for Music now is not that big of a deal. I "waste" some commerce, but that's what I'm doing pretty good at. And pushing the borders against dtay will improve my defensive situation by a lot, if we don't consider player's motivations on the equation.

Brazil won yesterday, it was such a sad day shakehead

The Parthenon is pretty bad to be honest do we really need it? Can't you just stack culture building there? Library, barracks nad more importanly Great Library down the road.
To be honest bombing the city with the GA by itself isn't going to do much unless is follow by some kind of serious attack, it would be better to start a G A if you get the Artist.

Construction and especially MC are good techs to have, yeah forges are expensive which is why is good to start with then early.

Definitely put the city towards Molach, yeah some military would be necesary but as predicted isn't he fighting AT for awhile now?

Just realized that Compass can be a targetted tech as well, due to CHA quays. 3 commerce coasts are good tiles, considering our high happy Cap and the fact that we get discounts both on the Quay and the Lighthouse.

I wonder if that means I should abandon the Music plan and focus on Compass + Construction and Metal Casting. MC and Construction would increase our happy Cap (odeons + forges with all the metal -> I say all the metal, but I only have silver, since no one is trading with me), which I guess is the way to go now that we don't have that much space to expand to.

I could also get a GArt by slowly waiting for the SoZ points... And then have the units to force the city out of Dtay... Or just forget about the Dtay grudge and focus somewhere else...

By the way, I see now that all colosseums give +2 happy... What the heck, why nerf the Odeon so much? All it gives is +1 XP to some more types of units. And I thought siege was one of them, but no, colosseum also gives +1 to siege. What a great change! rolleye Lets nerf an already bad building, while leaving Terrace as is...

Bah, I'm thinking too much. I reached this far without thinking, I shouldn't start doing it now...

I dreamed that Krill conquered all of Molach land and he had 20 cities. He was attacking with knights and it was so early. And I could sell techs for gold and the tech that allowed it was engineering. But if I already had engineering, I should be able to build pikes and I couldn't.

So all you need to do is get friendly with a military city state to gift you the pikes you need, right?
